"Snowy Takeoff" KLM Boeing 747 PH-BFT,Captain E.vanV at runway 27 EHAM

- De hele dag heeft het enorm gesneeuwd op Schiphol Airport. De PH-BFT met callsign KL 23,in eerste instantie KL661, is uiteindelijk tegen 15uur vertrokken.
Oorspronkelijk was de ETD 10.40.
Om 11uur de pushback en halfuur later op het platform voor de de-icing. Weer een halfuur later gaat Schiphol helemaal dicht. De motoren gaan weer uit.
Om 12.41 wordt er weer opnieuw gede-iced. En eindelijk wordt er om 14.37 koers gezet naar runway 27. Met dank aan de inzet van oa de ijsberen en het de-icing team kan er toch nog vertrokken worden naar Houston Int.

This Boeing 747-400 Combi PH-BFT Tokyo arrived last Sunday 29 March 2020 15:30 as KL686 from Mexico City Benito Juárez to Amsterdam Schiphol. It was the last flight for a KLM Boeing with passengers.
Only 4 Cargo Boeing 747-400 remain operational.
Three in KLM livery:
PH-CKA Eendracht
PH-CKB Leeuwin
PH-CKC Oranje
One in Martinair livery:

Hoop nu anno 2024 toch stiekem dat martinair naast de A350F ook een 747-8 gaat bestellen. Ik hoorde dat martinair bepaalde soorten vracht niet meer zal kunnen vervoeren, vanwege het gebrek aan een nose cargo door op de A350. Wie weet.....

Dankjewel en ja, is ook alweer een hele tijd geleden. Hier werd ik ook voor het eerst via ATC geroepen bij mijn nickname Bokito. Van deze captain en vriend z'n laatste halfjaar alle start/landings vastgelegd.

The B747 was heavy and full loaded. It departed after being three times de-iced.
I will ask my mate about the flapsetting by snowstorms like this one. The Cpt at this B747 is a friend of mine and greeted me by live atc. My nickname is Bokito.

Ja dat klopt helemaal. Deze captain is een goede vriend van me en heb zijn laatste halfjaar al zijn start en landings gefilmd. Je hoort hem zeggen 'and this one is for Bokito'. Bokito is mijn nickname. Hier bedankt bij me ervoor dat ik vanaf 's morgens 8uur in de sneeuwstormen heb gestaan ,wachtend totdat hij eindelijk zou vertrekken. En dat deed hij na 3 keer gede-iced te zijn pas om 14.50 , als allereerste van de vloot.

Een prachtig gemaakte clip met aan het begin die kerstversiering en op het eind verdwijnt de majesteitelijke klm in de mistige sneeuw.De dramatische muziek past er goed bij.(is het trouwens niet gevaarlijk om bij zulke weersomstandigheden op te stijgen?)
@Valkenier11 And your friend did a fine job when taking off!!! I was referring to the music and the long long taxi to departure. He he did not take off until 3:10 of of a 4:18 video. You should rename you clip "Long Long Taxi With Spooky Music and "Snowy Takeoff" KLM Boeing 747 PH-BFT,Captain E.vanV at runway 27 EHAM". See how many hits you get then.

I would've walk offa that plane and it woulda left without me. I don't care if the Captain sez it's OK to take off with snow on the fuselage. And yes, he's correct, the airframe became airborne. If the cabin crew had refused to allow me off the aircraft, there's a little trick called DOORS TO MANUAL. You flip the lever and you're arrested for interfering with the cockpit crew. I'd rather be arrested with the peace of mind that I didn't take off with a snow caked fuselage. The MD-80 that crashed in Madrid a few years back had passengers asking to be offloaded but the crew wouldn't let them. They were all dead a few minutes later because the cockpit crew FORGOT to set the flaps.

@@leoray1234 This B747 was de-iced three times before departure. Original TSAT was 10.40LT en finally departed at 14.40

Because of my position..........lower against the waterside you cannot see this runway was cleaned by the snow department. This was the first departure at the day. Sheduled at 10.30 and estimated 14.50pm
