I defended Satterfield all last year and all of this year. Even against Indiana we moved the ball multiple times when the defense basically didn’t show up.
However, after the press conference I realized what’s missing is clean and clear fundamental football - process football. Routes aren’t sloppy and separation nonexistent, runners seem to just sort of run and fall down, Inconsistent line play, permitter blocking, then the play calling issues you mentioned. But the press conference made me realize he’s not a detail guy, it seems, so the players aren’t working on the process and focusing on the details.
Indiana is winning because they play fundamental football and instead of trying to put talent someone, they just do their business handling the little things.

The biggest red flag I’ve noticed is his play calling. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s sporadic, it isn’t designed to put us in favorable positions, and he runs the same stuff over and over regardless of how well it works. Did we have a single middle screen go for positive yards against Ohio State? Why continue to run it if it’s not working? And then to say in a press conference earlier in the week that perimeter blocking is an issue then continue to run plays to the perimeter is just ridiculous. It just seems like he doesn’t have a game plan, he doesn’t see how to pick apart defenses, and he doesn’t k ow how to make adjustments. I just don’t think he has the right mind to run an offense. Keep him as TE coach and get someone else for OC. We need a play caller that knows what they’re doing.

As bad as Ohio State played, coming off their own bye-week, injuries all thru their O-line, they still beat NU…. and this just in… NU has a record 27 Straight Losses vs Rank Opponents. And yet many are begging for one more win against anybody, to back in to a bowl game. Imagine a team losing a record setting 27 Straight Losses against ranked teams, in any bowl game… what a sell-job they feed us with this program.

The WR screens aren't working cuz our wideouts can't block. Teams run that play every Saturday, if our wideouts can't block we can't run those plays. The play calling could've been better yesterday, it wasn't terrible. We ran the ball all over them, IMO Neb identity needs to be a physical run game with dominant/nasty o-lineman - The Big Red Machine. A dominant run game will open the pass right up! How nice was it to see the shock on OSU fans faces when we took the lead! Proud of our players effort and will. Neb is on the way ⬆️. GBR

In nearly two years, nobody, including Satterfield, can explain the identity of this offense. They should hand the play calling over to Glenn Thomas now and hire a new OC after the end of this season. Nepotism cost our last coach his job - Rhule needs to understand that quickly.

We could be talking different if a few things happened but I think everybody's biggest gripe is the ineffective screen after screen after screen. If they have become predictable to us, how predictable do you think they have become for defensive coaches and players? By how they keep blowing them up, id say very predictable. If we didnt have Tonys defense with our defensive standouts we would be cooked. I think what makes me think a change will be needed is this....we seem to, week in and week out, be calling an offensive gameplan around an offense that lacks any talent while id argue we have far more talent than our playcalling would suggest

Said it from the moment this hire was announced that it was a bad one. I don't know how anyone can defend him. The playcalling is random at best, but the reality is when a play works he refuses to call it again. Plays that don't work are called over and over again. It's the definition of insanity and Nebraska keeping him beyond 2024 would be a travesty.

But if a play hasn’t worked the first 5 times a game please cross it off and all plays that resemble it. Throw some crossing routes, deep shots, I’d even be fine with some shallow routes but for the love of God please don’t keep throwing behind the line of scrimmage when we can’t block!

Even if he was having more success, the dude is too pass-happy. Every time we've tried to bring the NFL style/West Coast offense to Lincoln, it has failed. You'll have too many of those cold, windy days where passing is an uphill battle. Osborne understood this. We need to have an offense with a dynamic rushing attack. It's the only way that we've won. Satterfield was never going to be the answer.

I don’t want to hear that the offense had a great practice, I want to hear that they had a great game! Satterfield can leave the team, but I just expect the next guy that comes in to be another offensive coordinator that sucks. It just seems to be that way here at Nebraska

We don't get the right players. So we have a QB. One, but why not 2-3 QB's that can play? Other schools do. Where are the WR's? We use our TE! No full time fullback. It's like our recruiters aren't on their game and can't figure out what we need. If we can't win games, players won't want to stay and I don't blame them.

Satterfield should have been fired over the head set after the first quarter in the Ohio State game. This guy is a joke! Quit blaming it on the refs. He kept calling plays that were passes behind the line of scrimmage that ended up tackles for loss. Why??? Because Ohio State knows how to dissect basic game film. That and Satterfield has no idea what situational football is. Why would you randomly throw Harberg in for one red zone play and he gets tackled for a loss??? WTF? Then the red zone play calling after the interception! Let Raiola keep on a zone QB keep and he scores easy. Satterfield is such a joke I think his play calling is intentionally sabotaging this team.

The wide receivers inability to block on screen passes, is directly linked to the offensive coordinator. The coaching staff is either coaching it, or allowing it to happen. It’s up to Sadderfield to correct his receivers coach and get that fixed. That clown can’t direct his coaches, or call plays. Sadderfield should have been let go last year. Don’t make excuses for that clown.

The play calling is the issue. I said you do not play deeper than 10 yards vs Nebraska as they have no deep threat. You fix that with solid play action passing. You have to use motion in today's game. Defense that can sit still pre snap eat up the type of Nebraska offensive play calling that Satterfield is producing.
Yes, these WR are garbage at blocking. They will not be going Pro, just because they cannot block. But you can limit that by not calling WR screens. They just do screens, which works on blitz, not a standard 4 man rush.
