This is so helpful! A lot of how-to handstand videos just advise you to kick your legs up as if I have that much confidence as a beginner. This is definitely a do-able progression for me!
Exactly! That would be stage 2 if I were a complete beginner. First building the strength to even hold yourself up is a must before you go adding the challenge and fear of kicking up into the mix.
i can kick my leg up, but i noticed that when i tried learning a handstand that way, it was hard to engage my core. I did it facing the wall and now my back isnt curving
@@ngndnd I know what you mean. I think when people start with kicking up they are trying to run before they can walk. It’s best to focus on static holds to build a strong foundation and an understating of alignment and then add in a dynamic movement like kicking up after that.
I can still do that easily but it doesn't really give me much body strength at all since I'm just pushin off a wall with my feet. I could never do it without a wall, I'd just fall over.
When I was a kid I could hold a handstand for two minutes. I took about 5 /6years off from gymnastics and am now back at it. I surprised myself with what I coudk still do. That handstand is now 2 seconds instead of two minutes but I decided I wanna build it back up😊
Omg the strength in your wrists and core!!! How easy you make it look... Any tips for wrists strengthening exercises for beginners? I hurt my wrists just doing this move, twice, after a good and easy yoga warm up. Office workers we have super weak wrists!!
Stretching and mobilizing your wrists daily goes a long way. Sometimes I start with wrist CARS (slow, controlled circles) 10 times in both directions. Then, I get on my hands and knees and just rock forward onto my hands, pause for a moment, then rock back (do that a few times). Next, I (delicately) flex my wrists inwards and do the same movement a few times. Warming up and just spending time with weight on your wrists and hands (full planks, push up modifications, etc) is so helpful for wrist strengthening. Hybrid Calisthenics on RUclips should have some helpful suggestions on wrist strengthening.
Honestly I don’t think the fear goes away unless you face the thing you are scared of. It might not be what you want to hear but I promise you the more you do what you are scared of the less scary it becomes.
my best trick is: do it close to a wall and start with your hands on the floor! one leg is stretched and will give you momentum to come up, the other leg is bent and acts like a spring. you do not need to start standing upright with a lot of momentum and streght. handstand requires muss less energy and force than you might think! one determined mid-strenght bounce for one foot is actually enough to get up. and you are not as feared when your hands are already on the ground and there is a wall behind you so that you cannot fall 😊 ask someone to even spot you or help you to lift your legs up and you will see it’s super easy! 😊
This is SUPER helpful! I also set a mirror up beside me to see how it feels once I'm in the right position. You can't know what a correct position feels like if you've never been there😅
Oh I'm definitely gonna try this. I used to be able to handstand fairly well but with getting older and school, I've lost the ability and it actually makes me really sad so it's a goal this year for sure.
this is really helpful :) i already know how but this is such a great thing to do!! when u have enough confidence and trying handstand kick one leg up at a time, it helps w/ balance. if u want to hold it longer bend your fingers on the ground (don't really know how to explain it??)

It's certainly one of the great videos😊
@@CharlieFollows what if you dont have any free wall?
Why has the Internet suddenly decided I want to learn how to handstand? I get adverts for how to learn on every platform. It's so weird
Maybe the universe knows more than you 😂
Trust the youniverse.
me too lol
Yes I am the same. Been practicing this morning with just one leg resting on the wall and other up. So close but how do RUclips know I'm into it?
It can be useful someday!
I miss being a kid, I remember putting my head on a pillow, throwing my legs towards the wall and then leaning my entire body on that wall
Me too!
@@CharlieFollows There's no hesitation in doing that, we just wanted to do it and have fun. Being adult makes you think over and over again lol
@@inearggna_anir yep it took me ages to get over the fear when I was learning handstand. If I was still a kid I wouldn’t have thought twice
Bjr avec un mal de dos possible de faire ça aussi ??😀 reponse et aide merci à vous

That's amazing actually. Is it easy for kids to do or bcus you were into gymnastics it was easy for you?
