Thank you for the have no children tip. There are many reasons I do not want children but one of them is money. I have 0 money issues or worries and hardly any stress in life. I love my choice. But so many people call me selfish, inconsiderate or say I am stupid to let thoughts about money influence my choice about children. I am grateful you were willing to say this on the internet.
Of course!! I also have many reasons...#1 being I just don't want them!! And that is enough not to have them. So yeah honestly f**k the people who say that because you're not being selfish at all ❤️
I figured in my mind that the best ages to have a child for me were 29 and 31. It didn’t happen for me, but I met a wonderful man and became a stepmom. I have subsequently become a grandmom - best role ever for me. My grand daughter is my world. So I say all that to say that life has so many possibilities. Nothing is guaranteed like being able to actually conceive. My dad said I was selfish for not having kids. It just wasn’t in my spirit. You have to own YOUR truth. I love your insights Leila!!🎉
I appreciate your comment about not having pets. I have a 9.5 year old lab/terrier mix I rescued as a puppy. I have been fortunate to be in a financial situation where I can care for her, but when I got her at 20, I had no idea the financial commitment I was signing up for. $75/month pet insurance $85/month food $60/month joint supplement $160/month allergy medicine (pet insurance reimburses some) $140/month arthritis med (pet insurance reimburses some) $12/month heart guard $23/month flea and tick med This doesn’t include routine vet visits and shots, annual county dog tags, boarding/pet sitting for when I travel, teeth cleanings, a surgery she’s needed, and all the fun stuff like treats and festive clothes and toys and dog beds. I spend THOUSANDS a year on my dog. I budget for her and am fortunate I can afford to give her everything she needs, but it has taught me A LOT and as a millennial woman has also opened my eyes to how much more it would cost to have a child. I think a lot of people get a dog and think it’s just a once a year vet visit, food and some toys…but there is so much more to giving a pet an amazing quality of life.
Thank you for sharing all this!! Yes they really do cost more than people think and that's even if they're healthy. Then any medical problems and everything sky rockets. I spent so much on our cat because he had really bad allergies. One of our dogs ate a blanket and had a blockage so she had to have emergency surgery. Then another dog had a mass on her spleen that had to be operated on. They are worth it but I think a lot of people don't think of that things that come up.
The first tip about choosing a financially responsible/conscious partner is so crucial and I’ve literally never heard anyone outright say this, and I watch a lot of FI content. Talking about finances is one thing (and people do mention this a lot), but it’s usually within the context of marriage. Marriage aside, watch how your partner spends money/how they talk about it early on. What was their relationship to money *before* they met you? This is something to take note of before you become financially implicated with someone else.
I have two dogs. The funny part is I didn’t originally want dogs. I got them when I was in a past relationship. That other person is gone now and left me with the dogs. But they are so incredibly loyal to me, but it’s like they were always my dogs!
You’re speaking facts on facts on facts in this video! My husband and I saved and planned for 7yrs to have our child. We did underestimated how difficult it would be trying to raise a good and decent child in this screwed up society. Our dog is the only thing keeping us from moving overseas because we’ve had him since he was 8wks old and he’s now very senior so we’re waiting here to see him through the end of his life. Everything else you’ve mentioned we do except building community which is challenging due to the overworking of people and many other distractions that are in full effect in our country.
@@PersonalFinancewithLeila you just do, no disrespect in that answer but it’s like any other situation you may find yourself in. Thanks for the tips though! That are great!
It feels so refreshing to see that I’m on the right path We went into debt because of job inestability and struggled to get back into a good paying job, but now we’re working on paying debt and October is our first month and so far we’ve tackled about 1/8 of it, probably will be able to make more progress this month And we do want children and also know the associated costs so we’re preparing ourselves, creating a chunky fund that covers at least the first two years of their life We also in that same page, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR THINGS! I’m on my 4.5 years of using the same phone, and it would be nice to update, but there’s no need yet, and I’ll be creating a fund so when the time comes, I have the money already saved up, anyways, found your channel recently and you’re always an instant watch!!!
I've had three serious relationships in my over five decades on this planet and the first point is important. That being said... All three were money morons when they met me but all three towed the line and were very responsible while we were together. Just because they are money morons when they meet you, doesn't mean they will remain so. Some people just don't have goals or knowledge. Once they learn, they do well.
That last suggestion can be such a challenge for some of us! It’s probably the most important one at the same time. I wish you well in building your community. You’ve done an awesome job building one online. I hope that ends up translating easily in other parts of your life. We have a neighborhood Facebook page that kind of supports this concept, but I’m a bit reluctant to put myself out there.
Thank you so much! We've befriended a gym friend in the neighborhood and a lady who cares about the neighborhood kitties like I do so far 😂 But nothing too deep and I think that's where it's challenging for sure!
Regarding having kids, I am a mom of 2 young children and I love them deeply but it's not only expensive but also sooo much work! So, when a woman says I don't want children my suggestion is DON'T have. The world is full of shitty parents who don't take care of their kids properly and the outcome is very frustrated adults in the future. Parenthood is not for everyone.
As a mom of one, I totally agree. Also, unfortunately no matter how good of a parent you are, after they get to a certain age people of other influences i.e. peers/classmates tend to have greater impact whether we want them to or not. Parenting is so rough in our messed up society. Please don’t have kids if you truly don’t want to.
@@kemi1486 that's totally true. I listened to a psychology podcast the other day and they said that parents have a strong influence on their children until the age of 14. After that the peers are more important.
I agree . All these points are great . My wife and i believe in a lot of DIY stuff (my wife more than me so credit to her). Me and my wife did flooring by ourselves. At the same time we did hire out for other stuff..but once i did stuff by myself i noticed that , i was in a better position to negotiate when hiring out and even know if the handyman is overcharging me or not Kids/pets are great to have. It is a personal choice ..I think it helps to have at least the family deductible as an emergency expense and for pets an extra 1k atleast per pet .

I completely agree. I'm finally starting to make decent money and having a child would've been rough to raise while going on my journey to this point.
I genuinely don't know how people do it!

Great video 💕💕
Thank you!!
Former fiancee ended our engagement the instant the second "P" in prenup exited my lips. Tell me about it...
👀 idk why people get so upset about a prenup. They must not have experienced any sort of bad relationship before. I also would want a prenup.
Great video😊 I didn’t want kids either so we didn’t. We do have our precious pets.

"Non-Traditional Money Tips"....make more money
Good points, I agree with all of them if you want to maximize your wealth. Do you plan on having children, btw?
I think you wrote this question without watching the whole video. 7:40 in the video.
Thanks! I do not want children.
@@fasteddy3336 I did watch the whole video but I was multi-tasking :) - thanks
