As a Queenslander, I can confirm that invading Cairns is not possible because there are few things worse than living with Queenslanders. Of course those few worse things are the New South Welsh, Victorians, Capital Territorians, and Clive Palmer. Tasmanians don't quite make the cut because there are only two or three of them, and as the Tasmanian in this comment section, @tameelah3839 points out, nobody knows where they are. South Australians are too drunk to make the list, and as for Westralians, they already have enough problems, with Gina up their rear ends trying to extract any iron ore that might be hiding up there.

Around 1990, retired Chief of Air Force Air Marshal David Evans wrote a paper talking about potential threats to Australian sovereignty. In the paper, talking about a potential threat from Indonesia, he suggested any invasion scenario would not involve storming the beaches in Sydney. He suggested a force could establish a beach head in the north west and would just say, you don’t want us here? Come and remove us then. At that point the Australian forces have the task of deploying with 3-4000 km supply lines, troop and equipment movements and so on. If ‘an enemy’ lands at multiple locations across northern Australia it is unlikely our armed forces are large enough, in both personnel and equipment, to cope with that. A reliance on the U.S. is also problematic. ANZUS gives each signatory an ‘out’ to not get involved if it is not in their interests to do so. To win what they want, they don’t need to raise their flag in Canberra.

Australia has binding defence agreements under ANZUS and AUKUS involving Australia, USA, UK, and NZ. It carries out military training and exercises with Indonesia and Singapore.
The USA uses Australian ports for its navy which provides strategic access to both the Indian and Pacific Oceans. And let's not talk about Pine Gap.
As the video points out, the sheer logistics involved would be immense, including the loss of essential imports from Australia such as iron ore. Plus Australia's military is geared to just such scenarios.

Indonesia is only a stones throw away from the torres straits islands & it wouldn’t take much persuasion for Papua New Guinea to allow forces to be based there.
So if Indonesia & potentially PNG maybe even Malaysia allow Chinese forces to operate out of their Territories , now range isn’t that much of a concern!

Just look up what Pine Gap is capable of and for how far and it's easy to see that a surprise invasion of Australia just couldn't happen. There’s 2 main military problems that have blown up that aren’t covered in this video, which could draw Australia into a long term war with China indirectly in the SE Asian region, rather than China going straight for Australia. Firstly, Trump has signalled heavily he’s not interested in honouring the USA treaty with NATO, plus he has tied his personal interests with China and Russia, while physically snubbing his relationship with Australia in the person of the Australian Prime Minister. A second Trump presidency realistically could have the US military ordered by Trump to stand by if China starts a war of aggression with the South East Asian region or Russia invades Europe, which we would of course participate in.
Secondly, which hasn’t been covered enough in the West, China is headed into a slo mo economic and population catastrophe (all those men without female counterparts) that has an easy fix for a psychopathic leadership willing to have others to die for it: war. WW2 was the economic fix for the Great Depression of the 1930s. After multiple decades of extreme economic growth in China the wildly unbalanced Chinese economy is being taken out by collapsing real estate giants. If China doesn’t come up with a fix soon, it’s not an exaggeration to say a hundred million Chinese people will lose their jobs before the economy turns itself back around from the real estate collapse. The Chinese government doesn’t have the revenue to pay for that many people being out of work.
Killing off a significant population of Chinese men is the easiest fix for the dictatorship, as long as they have patriotic fervor on their side. And there seems to be a widespread ignorance that Chinese leadership have been pushing a narrative that it’s the Chinese turn for Empire building and world domination. Their leadership pushes a Han ethnic supperiority message, the way the old colonial powers used to push a White Superiority/Supremacy message to justify world occupation. I don’t see China going for Australia as a primary target. But if China goes for SE Asia? Things could get *really* messy for Australia if China is physically occupying parts of SEA. Especially as China is on an Aircraft Carrier building kick. Only 2 operating, one being commissioned, and one being built now. But it’s a worrying trend that could absorb a lot of jobless men.

It's our country's name other than that fuck all ,but Australia will always assist other Commonwealth nations when they need it especially in time of war , can't always rely on America to save our ass ,but the Britt's will come regardless and the other Commonwealth nations will aid in whatever area they can ,we weren't talking politics I was referring to the above clip ,sma

@@brendoncrofts6714 The Brits will come to our aid like 1942 .They threw and lost the 8th division into Singapore which they recognise as their worst defeat in history .
When the sixth and seven division were on their way home to defend Australia ,they diverted them to go to Burma .They refused to give the troop ships an escort home .
Never depend on the poms or the yanks .

this "analytical" video is dumb. their assumptions are off. if china invades aus they have to come from china - who says? rubbish. they could be in a number of countries closer to Australia then they are if they remain in China. Indonesia, papa new guinea, some Pacific Is they have made deals with recently - Solomon Is and Samoa I think, so this video needs to rethink their analysis.

china could invade Australia any where they liked and unless the Usa came to our aid there would be no stopping them .our military though well trained is too small and don;t have enough equipment ,although we have some very nice US gear it is in token amounts only enough to train with.Indonesia would just say not our problem and ignore the issue.china is currently pressuring PNG to build a military base in torres strait.the other thing is as far equipment where ever they invade they will immediately build factories in australia making supply less of a problem. our navy fatally under manned and under equipped. the main reason they would come is for resources ie mines oil and gas all in the north so they would probably ignore southern australia until they are well established up there
