Rami’s Pick Up Your Feelings cover from their survival-esque show the Last Evaluation will make your jaw drop, and Ahyeon’s Dangerously cover from the LE went so viral that despite being released in like 2016, the song won an award in SoKorea last year, and Charlie Puth (whose song it is) ended up giving them Like That, which they have an exclusive performance video for. Currently 15-22 years old, and 13-21 when selected for the group, these girls trained at YG for an average of 3.5/4 years, with many of them beginning around age 10. Not only are they amazing at singing, rapping, dancing, with great visuals, their live performances are even better than the original tracks, and their stage presence is insane. When people heard the group name was Babymonster lots of people lot it was silly or cringe, but after they began performing, and actually doing it live (there were some big controversies regarding live singing in Kpop right around the time of their debut), everyone was like ok yes you’re right we understand these are babies with monstrous levels of talent. These girls started with hip hop in "Batter up" and "Sheesh" 'cause YG entertainment was basically created girl group with "girl crush" concept like "Blackpink" For the new generation, they found 7 girls who can both sing and rap with high quality live stage performance. YG try a lot of different style of music with these versatility baby girls like hip hop, R&B, Ballad and they ate them all. Korean press names them as "live monsters" 'cause their dancing and singing live always better than the recording..😅

I think the name is based on their age, they're actual babies (15-18 with one 22) and their MONSTROUS talent. They're all incredible dancers, but their singing is NO JOKE - it's not even fair. They caught my eye with some of their individual showcases before debut and followed their pre-debut "Final Showcase" survival-type show on RUclips and got pretty attached lol. Their music isn't really my style, but I continue to support and cheer them on. I'm waiting for the day something comes out that blows me away. Ruka, Asa, and Ahyeon are the rappers and Asa has done some writing and producing for the group already. Ruka, Asa, and one of the singers, Haram, are my personal favorites, but Ahyeon is also a BEAST. I didn't know I had so much to say about them LOL! I would recommend checking out some of their pre-debut performances where they get to show off their skills more.
I also meant to mention that there is actually a Japanese metal group called BABYMETAL if you have any interested in metal. You mentioned thinking BabyMonster might have implied a more rock vibe.
