- Waikiki Beach is one of the most popular and busiest beaches in Hawaii, attracting millions of visitors every year. The beach is approximately two miles long and stretches from the Ala Wai Canal to Diamond Head. There are many hotels, restaurants, and shops along the beachfront, making it a popular spot for tourists to stay and enjoy the sun, sand, and surf.
The name "Waikiki" means "spouting water" in Hawaiian, and the area was once a playground for Hawaiian royalty. Today, the beach is famous for its excellent surfing conditions, and it is home to the Duke Kahanamoku Statue, which honors the legendary Hawaiian surfer and Olympic gold medalist.
Waikiki Beach is also known for its vibrant nightlife, with many bars and nightclubs located nearby. In addition to surfing, visitors can enjoy other water activities such as swimming, snorkeling, and paddleboarding.

Aloha, AK! Come back to Honolulu for Halloween 🎃. It is so wild & fun. I am glad you enjoyed the udon. That banyan tree at the Market Place is the first in Hawai'i & oldest one in Hawai'i. It was a gift to Princess Ka'iulani as that was once her home ’Āina Hau. She was the heir to the throne of Hawai'i. Her mother was Princess Likelike (lee-kay-lee-kay), the sister of Queen Lili'uokalani & King Kalākaua. Her father was Archibald Cleghorn, from Scotland. He brought her the banyan tree as a gift. He served as the Royal Governor of O'ahu in July, 1887. Lots of history there. Mahalo nui loa for the fun cruise. Some of us don't get over there enough. Aloha & Mahalo🌺🌺

I'm in arctic Finland. Its summer, but I would rather be on Kalakaua Ave any day! I miss Hawaii. No ice, dark winter, ect!

It is pronounced "koo hee o" spelled kuhio. I miss living there soooo much!!! IMP used to be a single story placed with local vendors. It hurt my heart they tore it down for another commercial monstrosity!😢

Love Waikiki beach best place in the world the only challenge is that the exchange rate to change from other currencies to USD is too expensive making it difficult to visit Hawaii

You might want to start visiting residential areas next. Practically every state is changing their laws on how to zone residential and business. Florida is about to do that soon as the next election cycle. New York is planning it. Basically it will change how apartment blocks can go into former business areas. I know that apartments are being built right behind my house which was just open field before but was originally zoned as industrial only as Northrop Grumman used the land to test their laser guidance systems. Now it’s a nearly complete luxury apartment complex. Miami is building inland and into the bay as a new marina is slowly being planned out. New York is trying to figure out the building situation with the empty lots still available.
