starkid is a VERY talented group. highly recommend anything on their channel. the "very potter" stuff started when they were still in college! but this clip was from "starkid homecoming", which was a big concert celebrating their 10th anniversary.

Darren Criss (Harry) has been on Broadway several times and often the Broadway news sites will list “A Very Potter Musical” in the things he’s starred. It’s just become accepted somehow. Fun fact: in Darren’s first Broadway show he took over the lead in “How to Succeed in Business” from the actual Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe

You just NEED to go down the StarKid rabbit hole. Watching you react to these unsunf talented performers would be totally awesome. They have the 12 full-length musicals, the web series, the concerts, and all sorts of goid stuff. To see where they started with the Harry Potter parodies to what they have become is beyond amazing. In fact, they are currently posting episodes of the second season of their web series Nightmare Time every Friday until June 10th (I believe). It would be cool for you to watch and react and get "caught up." 😉 Thanks for this reaction. Can't wait for more.

I could be wrong but I think the reason it's not a Broadway smash is because since it is a copyrighted property they can't make money off of it. It is a parody and of course all of the songs are original but the names and basic plot points are the same. I went and saw when they did "Holy Musical, Batman" and it was free admission for the same reasons.
a part of what makes a very potter musical so special is its low budget but my god if i don't wish they could redo the whole thing with the same cast just now with good mics
