Tbh, the Halo Effect has produced 3 very nice singles... it will be very fun to see In Flames forced to come back to the sound their older fans loved and cherished because of that "rivalry".
thank you so much for the interview. as far as I love old inflames, I enjoy the intention of the halo effect band and the Stromblad touch, but man Anders is really another level, I mean Stane is excellent for what he did with Dark Tranquillity, but it feels very flat on the halo effect tracks. Anders made a lot in the In flames earlier succes, and it is not all about the strombald era etc. I just feel happy old in flames sound can leave in another band with great musicians and even if Im not that much fond of new IF materials I am excited for the new one, the new single is nice , and actually some new albums as been great like siren charms with fresh ideas and interesting structures
I love both DT and IF but comparing vocals between current Anders and current Mikael (including the halo effect), mikael is leagues ahead. But its ofcourse a matter of taste.
id say sountrack to your escape had soul IMO. it turned flat after the following album with bad sounds production and shallow riff. but I still like siren charms that had good points on riff and production Imo
I love inflames whole discography and I love Anders, But... His claims about not wanting to do the old stuff over and over again when at least 75-80% of the music Inflames made post-2000 (which is most of the band's discography) isn't like the old stuff. It gets kinda old after the 100th time hearing it from our Boy Anders. It also doesn't help his case when he's constantly dodging the word *DEATH METAL* every time you bring up the old stuff to him.
it's funny, but it is the halo effect that sounds more like in flames than in flames themselves , Anders really wants to believe that the pop rock that he writes now is similar to their old songs🤣🤣🤣no dude you just showed how you feel about old friends who left the band and without whom you wouldn't be where you are now especially without Jesper .
Crazy that there is another band that is 1000% more inflames than inflames. Like what do you axtually want to hear the original members of inflames, play inflames style music, or whatever thr fuck these guys play now? These guys should give it up.
People. Bands, fucking, evolve. Bands, fucking, evolve. Stick this up your minds. You don't want same fucking Jester Race album repeated in 10 years across time. You don't want Call of Duty 3 being redone every year like a FIFA game. Bands, fucking, evolve.
Anders seems agitated and anxious here. Obviously he can’t stand gotcha journalism. I like that he’s just straight forward but I really can see his depression and outside influences, he can feel very deeply what’s going on in the world. He’s right about when you hear something for the first time and it can’t top it, when I heard CC, it was amazing, but when I heard STTYE, that album has stuck with me and been the album that nothing can top lyrically.
it's no coincidence, the halo effect came around and started making somewhat oldschool sounding like melodeath and was very well recieved and suddenly inflames also started doing something more similar to that again. Im actually somewhat excited for a IF album again, in a very long time. The EP was killer. But i also agree with IF, they are the ones making the music so they should make the music they want to make. Even if some people arent fans.
Life's too short to argue about 2 bands and whatever they're doing, will do or haven't done. Move on and enjoy both or one...simple. I'm sure fans embrace the saga that is Rhapsody/Of Fire/Luca's Rhapsody/Luca & Fabio's Rhapsody as an example even though a different genre....or is it just metal anyway?!
Wow... this is really sad and disappointing to hear what Anders said about THE. It lacks even a tiny bit of respect for his ex Bandmates Jesper, Peter and Daniel and especially for Niclas. They have only nice things to say about In Flames and Anders is so idiotic...
He 100% miss the old crew and maybe he regrets being a dictator acting like its his band and the other guys are just his employes! Sad to see, i have been a fan over 25 years and i love Anders vocals! The band will never be the same or as good as it was before!
If you can’t hear Bjorn’s riff style from “Colony”up to “I the mask” you gotta be abit of a numb skull , I would say there production and guitar tones changed more than the writing.
I am really dissapointed with his reaction about Halo Effect guys. He looks and sounds nervous and annoyed. That is not the way you talk and react about your friends. Also, its a bulls**t that he didn't heard Halo music.
most music interviewers are so withdrawn... I don't believe Anders' that they don't feel the heat from THE. Although I agree with him that oddly enough it resembles more of a DT instead of IF
To be fair and honest, The new In Flames single sounds miles better than anything from the halo effect so far. Hoping Anders keeps this brutal energy throughout the next new album.
@@JL-fs2br yeah, mikeals vocals are just too damn monotonous and nothing peaks out. Feel what I Believe is excellent with some speedy riffs but everything else just sounds like lightweighted melodeath. Even reroute to remain in flames album sounds heavier lmao !! come on Halo effect >.>

Tbh, the Halo Effect has produced 3 very nice singles... it will be very fun to see In Flames forced to come back to the sound their older fans loved and cherished because of that "rivalry".
@@stashe9106 4 very nice songs
@@chaoszine why though? Like why does it matter?
Cause he is a dbag that ruined a once great metal band.
Lol he was so offended by the halo effect question. I think he definitely harbors some bitter feelings.
thank you so much for the interview. as far as I love old inflames, I enjoy the intention of the halo effect band and the Stromblad touch, but man Anders is really another level, I mean Stane is excellent for what he did with Dark Tranquillity, but it feels very flat on the halo effect tracks.
Agree to disagree. Inflames hasn't realeased a good album since reroute...
@@mattosgood28 i actually picked upp reroute last week, and it was way more uneven than I remember it
@@snuffcarl yeah, beats the crap out of everything after it, and not nearly as good as the stuff before it.
id say sountrack to your escape had soul IMO. it turned flat after the following album with bad sounds production and shallow riff. but I still like siren charms that had good points on riff and production Imo
Risky question at 13.45 🤣
YOOOOOOOO!
I'M SOOO HAPPY TO SEE IN FLAMES!
Why is he so hesitant to just admit they wanted to write some old school heavy stuff? He's so dodgy for no reason
Halo effect is 1000× more worth listening than ten years of in flames. THE is incredible.
It's HEAVY METAL for Anders.
Anders is the number 1 reason we lost our good old IF. The moment Jesper left I knew it was done deal. Other guys following just proved that.
exactly
InFlames will always sbe my number 1 band!!
this is not in flames, new album sucks, as always in the past 10 yrs
Anders looks kind of upset about Halo effect question, old members playing better and sound better than In Flames.
7:24
it's funny, but it is the halo effect that sounds more like in flames than in flames themselves , Anders really wants to believe that the pop rock that he writes now is similar to their old songs🤣🤣🤣no dude you just showed how you feel about old friends who left the band and without whom you wouldn't be where you are now especially without Jesper .
Very good comment and parallels my thinking exactly.
We know you're bald, the cap is for rappers and people like Linkin Park, not death metal people.
100 ageeed with Anders, the halo effect sounds more like dark tranquility than old In Flames
I'm glad they aren't bitter about having to leave NZ before playing
What are you talking about? Anders is giddy, talktative and happy. You are a pretty bad armchair psychologist.
It's sad to watch him not realize how big of a deal it is that they are going back to their older sound
it's no coincidence, the halo effect came around and started making somewhat oldschool sounding like melodeath and was very well recieved and suddenly inflames also started doing something more similar to that again. Im actually somewhat excited for a IF album again, in a very long time. The EP was killer.
But i also agree with IF, they are the ones making the music so they should make the music they want to make. Even if some people arent fans.
hmm he seemed a bit jaded when asked about the halo effect
That's how I feel about it. Honestly makes him look bad with them all getting together.
Yea, that’s the problem. You and Björn writing. It’s been the problem for a long time.
And that's sad Bjorn is the first person talked about, drummer and bassist don't seem as important
@@RAMADDICTION Even in the old times it was Anders, Björn and Jesper, so you guys shouldn't pretend like it was much different back in the day.
If you can’t hear Bjorn’s riff style from “Colony”up to “I the mask” you gotta be abit of a numb skull , I would say there production and guitar tones changed more than the writing.
Did they write The Jester Race?
I am really dissapointed with his reaction about Halo Effect guys. He looks and sounds nervous and annoyed. That is not the way you talk and react about your friends. Also, its a bulls**t that he didn't heard Halo music.
Anders Skrillex
There is no "rivalry" between IF and Halo Effect. It's just a cheeky joke between fans, including myself.
most music interviewers are so withdrawn... I don't believe Anders' that they don't feel the heat from THE. Although I agree with him that oddly enough it resembles more of a DT instead of IF
hard hitting questions won't result in a future interview, this was brutal to watch
Excuse me Mr Friden but The Halo Effect does not sound more like Dark Tranquillity 😁
State Of Slow Decay ?!?
A direct reference to the band's status for the last15 years-at least they are honest!🤣
Jesus!!! you just nailed it !!
To be fair and honest, The new In Flames single sounds miles better than anything from the halo effect so far. Hoping Anders keeps this brutal energy throughout the next new album.
Nice joke. Good single though
@@julespulp214 Anders is a better vocalist, especially with the screams sorry
@@scouterfox8709 I totally agree with you
@@JL-fs2br yeah, mikeals vocals are just too damn monotonous and nothing peaks out. Feel what I Believe is excellent with some speedy riffs but everything else just sounds like lightweighted melodeath. Even reroute to remain in flames album sounds heavier lmao !! come on Halo effect >.>
@@julespulp214 the halo effect mixing sounds too clean nothing is heavy about it besides the drumming dude.
Don’t really get why he answers the questions about THE the way he does. Afraid of getting knocked down from the throne? Immature.
or you could stop misinterpreting what he said like an immature child.
Because he's not going to let their decision define how he feels. If they move on, then they move on. Just like everything else going on, who gives a shit? I don't think he is being immature at all.
His Throne of 14 year old mall metal. Fucking early IF is so clutch.
@@drewp8399 i mean they were (and maybe still are, dont know) childhood friends...i thought it was strange that he made a point out of not giving a shit. Im not sure immature is the right word, maybe more petty?
This interviewer is kinda pushy
Anyone know why his voice went to shit when compared to mid 2000s albums
I think Mikael Stanne absorbed all the energy around him through the years to maintain his strength and did not leave much to his peers 😅
I read somewhere that he had vocal chord surgery in ~2001 so maybe he had to change his vocal style, but I can't find any "official" sources on that
Well, he’s 40+ years old. The body tends to head downhill at that point for most people
@@autumnvolume4181 The answer is that he fucked up his voice early on in his career with bad vocal techniques. His vocals sounded amazing, but he refused to take vocal lessons back then, so he strained the fuck out of his chords. You can listen to some early 2000s recordings where he can't hit a single note to save his life, and not just because he was drunk as f.
@@autumnvolume4181 not sure if that matters especially when you look at people like Geoff tate and other amazing singers that still sound great to this day
😅really Anders? expect more from you... Good luck to Gasper etc.. you are really disappointing...
Who’s gasper?
@@cringeanimations7227 right! damn those Swedish names😅
In flames is top 5 all time. THE is garbage.
Anders seems like a cool dude, but i've always seen him as the weak link In Inflames 😂 Too much whiny vocals. I havenb't liked In Flames since Reroute to remain, but a band has to to be able to develop - imagine playing the exact same stuff for so long as they have. They have to be able to change for their sake, even if we the old fans dislike it. We find other bands 🙂
Not sure why he got offended at the Halo Effect question tho 😂
