so some pointers... not hating just want u to be safe.
    1. heating glass that is sealed is really something you shouldnt do right away. heat creates a reverse vacuum and could explode.
    2. so that hole you made with the flakey film hanging off of it is the result of that pressure, its ok if you can control it, always keep the glass in flame so the film isnt a problem. the film is dangerous, its hard to clean up if it occurs. on that note if you pull away and the string thin stuff is being made roll it up in the flame
    3. no matter what get some didymium glasses! no if ands or buts! and get glass not plastic. they filter the light so u wont see yellows and oranges of the flame, secondly its like xray vision(the glass will flash white when its ready to work. green lenses arent much help they are to dark and you cant see tools.
    4. graphite is your friend get a piece to set tbings on. and get a can with some water in it to quench accidents or quickly cool puntees that arent needed. or

      THX 4 comment.
The glass film is nasty stuff...
I was looking at some glassblowing vids at the time, and they always blow huge bubble and break it away.
It makes this film, but also a really nice flange to which it is easy to weld tubes

heat the glass farther away from the flame so its easier to control, also keep spinning, i find its easier do the full rotation with help of your wrist and elbow going back and foward, i will try this too, thanks

    You have the greatest projects!
Why do you not blowing air into the glass to keep the proper form of a glass while working with it?

      Thanks!
I didn't get notification for this comment.
That may be possible for some not complex pieces. Very hard to regulate properly.
And annealing oven is quite cheap to build. Also you can use it to melt some metals for casting.

Push and pull the glass when welding. I hope you're using glasses to block UV.

      Thanks for suggestion.
I want to build glassblowing lathe so it will be a while, until I get back to this. Hopefully I wont forget :)
I use some weaker welding glasses, but I will get sodium blocking filter. I don't think, that there is more UV than in typical indoor daylight environment. But I haven't measured that.

Do you mean silicon metal? Silicon metal will burn in atmosphere with oxygen I think.

Try that cat litter looking stuff to burry the glass when cooling . that is cheaper and works great
