  • Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO) have become and integral part of the Canadian Navy’s deployment preparations. From Adriatic Sea to the Persian Gulf, young sailors have been called upon to board, search and seize ships under United Nations mandates. Often the boarding teams deal with hostile opposition - they have prepared for any event. In this fascinating show, we join a group of young sailors from various Canadian warships, doing the basic Boarding Party Course in Esquimalt, British Columbia. From learning hand-to-hand combat to searching the depths of large container ships, we see and experience what these sailors must deal with at sea doing dangerous and challenging boarding operations.

    The Navy sure does do things their own way. One handed 9 mm shooting, spastic clearing of the 9 mm...there must be army guys out there shaking their heads at this video, I know I was and I used to be navy (not Army).

      Jason McConnell ik, I wanted to be this, I know they are still super tough, but this is bad, some of the handgun handling is just horrible and unsafe. Let's just ram this slide thirty times...

    "Kind of like the Navy Seals." No nothing like the Navy Seals whatsoever, you are security guards of the boat.

      @XBOXRULES He is talking about how the Naval boarding party is not the same as navy seals and or JTF2 (special forces).. don't think he was comparing the states and Canada in any way..

      What that sailor said was justified just very very badly twisted... He meant to say, Boarding Party and Navy Seals both conduct VBSS, however yes BP is nothing close to Seals.

      The best comparison to them would be the SWCC (Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crew), JFT2 is basically our Navy Seals since JTF2 does do Naval Based Operations as well (JTF2 selection is open to all branches of the military btw).

    Is this the closest thing Canadians have to Marines? I must say I'm not impressed. This looked so amateur compared to USMC or Royal Marines.

      these are navy boatswains...so not even close

    • @definitelynotatroll
      @definitelynotatroll 7 лет назад +18

      iTzNoxy The Marines are considered the "toughest" of all the military branches in the United States, so they equate out to being an average infantryman straight out of infantry school for the Canadian Armed Forces. Canada uses better training, but this group is not for combat missions, but for security and sovereignty as well as law enforcement for the UN. You would compare the Marines to the Canadian infantry, the Canadians will win every time when talking about training and stuff like that. When we show our boarding parties with this kinda fat old guy, it is not a good representation of our forces.
      Marines win a comparison when it comes to gear, just because America puts a lot of money into good new gear (like guns, vehicles, planes, ships) this gear puts them ahead of the Canadians in most peoples minds because of the fact that Canada puts such little money into the military and because the US is backed by the whole US military.
      Of course, Canada and the US are buds and work together in every coalition ever… so, they fill the role that either side needs the other one to fill.

      This video isn't a good showing of this group anyway because the people filming it are not professional and ask random questions interrupting the guys explaining stuff.
