With its short take-off and landing capability, the Viggen outshines many a modern-day jet. She was way ahead of her time. It's a shame it's no longer in use today. Bye Hans.
IM watching this in 2019 and i just want to put out that i have Been their around 20 timmes and its very nice specialy with the Canal runing in the mittle of Turku🙂👍🇸🇪🇫🇮❤️
I have tested the last remaining Draken original simulator. :-) Takeoff is easy. Stick handling is nible and fast. Throutle is very hard to handel. I went from stall speed to mach 1.2 and back över and over. This is not a plane - it's a frickin canon ball! Once you push throutle forward, bang, afterburner on and super sonic. Then you pull back and the plane go limp. Landing was.... A handfull.. . No downward visiability what so ever. A small window between stall and over speed, over shooot. Had to focus on throttel control and more or less only trim it down. If you ever once tried to stick forward in order to check the landing strip you where focked. It's totally amazing how they put this rocket on the threshold. Even worse, Swedish pilots land this m f on roads!
never heared if Draken wings ever were fatigued. The design makes it unlikely. But Viggen had problems , what they exactly decided to do except putting limitation on flight in peacetime I do not know. In peace time 7G capable but in wartime I do not know. usually all nations fighters have a special G meter that remember the maximum load during a training mission. Lets say the pilot pulls 6G. The meter will get knocked up to 6G and stay there unless the pilot pulls 8G now the meter gets bumped up to 8G and stay there and so on. This is a tool for technicians to check when the pilot returns. In desert storm a USA pilot pulled 12 - 15 G with his F15 ... do not remember. But this little instrument brought back information when he landed. So it is not a tale it was recorded by instruments.
In the early 90ies, I happend to read a lot of newsgroups on the internet, and there was this name, commenting and answering discussions in totally different areas in science and humaniora such as philosophy, and it was excellent information provided. At that time the news groups were small, and you could actually read or skim thru everything that was published in these newsgroup in a very short span in the beginning of the internet era. These comments and articles were signed Piet Hein. I thought it was a group of people or an organisation because of the vast material and the very frequent posting. At that time i had no idea that it was one man only. Very impressive. Working around the clock, that old man.
@@johnsaetre7071 wel i am happy now that you now the story about Piet Hein.interesting to now that.he won the silverfleet on the Spanichs.history is interesting and nice.thanks for the interest.greetz:Peerke.
Two fantastic aircraft, and great buildup to both displays. And then you edit the displays to shit! WTF? Can you at least let one pass finish before you cut to another incomplete maneuver. Seriously. Frustrating video to watch of two superb planes. Sorry, as an American who never got to see a Viggen in the air this drove me crazy.
Oh that wonderful powerful thunderous ground shaking Viggen-sound: like it's literally ripping through the sky! Goosebumps!
Viggen was always my favourite , so raw and powerful
I think the draken is one of the most beautiful of modern combat aircraft.
Modern, really? It's been airborn for 65 years!
@@bengtstaffas8398 so has your mothers legs what’s your point
@@smudger746 My point is that Draken is beautiful but not modern...exactly like your mother btw!
That Viggen.. Insane short takeoff, and the rest off the video, it just sounds like a Saturn 5 takeoff. Awesome.

Well i remeber back in the time when you could hear this thunder in the sky! Couldnt be misstaken with something else
Very nice, excellent filming and editing!
Thanks!
Come to Finland this summer!! :) here is Turku Airshow. It would awesome to see Viggen and Draken after 15 years.. :))

The Swede designers have a sense of style! Double-deltas, double-wings, mystical god-like birds-of-prey all in one. Simple and beautiful.
@@Patrickakustisk it's not a plane

Fina minnen.

Saab Sk 35C Draken(35-810) & AJS 37 Viggen(37-098) \m/ Oftast något billarm som startar när Viggen lyfter brukar :)

Thank you Sir.....
Only sad thing is no JA 37 D flying displays.
Dock fint material i grunden!
Viggen used a 30mm canon and they made i vobble due to steady flight charismatic or else they fired in a straight line !
👍

Hur tänkte du när du klippte filmen? Bedrövligt på sådant fint material.
The music?
