Great topic. its helping a lot to me, after a few months I want to take a GIS Certification to get back in my GIS Field. Credit will go to Katie Scheurer
Katie i can totally relate with what you are saying! Some people do not understand the GIS field and work and how difficult it is to make their work easier.
Sage advice, IMHO. Tho i can't say much about steps 3-5, i am beginning to see benefits of doing a really thorough job of steps 1&2 (irrigation systems, in the case of our farm context) and developing an application that delivers real value to enthusiastic users within that particular scope, narrow as it may be. I like to believe that Integration, Analysis and Strategic impact throughout the org will follow quite naturally from here.

That is very true. Most people think once you have recreated their base info intolerant map your job is done but in reality it is only beginning.
Getting my GIS bachelors degree next week!
Ellis Holton congratulations!! That is a big step!
