That plasterwork restoration is truly extraordinary. Such amazing attention to detail ... but it's the small details that will combine to create the true "wow" factor once you've finished the room.

The blue wallpaper is a perfect choice and does match to the accessories. Minimum work now with only a few things left to finish. Mouldings are a success and the Green wallpaper is sporting a lovely presence in the salon. When a person sees the before they will know how much work was done to achieve a success. Only word is Dumbfounds in that had to learn puzzle piecing for that room! Great patience too!
I want to put before shots on the door to each room finished! Haha! Think I'll have to settle for an album in the entrance hall! Cx

Those moldings above the mirror in the dining room look SO much better after your restoration. You can really see it as a whole now instead of being disjointed because all the missing parts. The blue china room will be lovely after it's done up. I think you're right about maybe a different shade for the lamp though. Great job, I love all the details.
Thank you Katie, I still haven't had the enthusiasm to finish the piece above the fireplace, it was taking so long. The lamps were meant to be for my bedroom, but the bases went so well with the hold backs and the paper, I gave them up for that room, although they are rather tippy. Cx

The wallpaper is absolutely beautiful. The birds, the hints of blue, the shade of gray, the lamp, and are those tie backs? They are amazing. This room is going to be marvelous. I don’t know if you remember I commented that I thought the wallpaper in the dining room was going to be horrendously busy but you proved me wrong and it became my favorite dining room of all the chateau and now this room. The bathroom with all the gold I thought 💭 oh know🙊 what is she doing? Its going to be to much gold and again proved me wrong on every level. Oh I really can’t wait for each and every bedroom, bathroom, salons, hell even hallways are probably going to equally blow my mind. Well done.

I used to do art foundry wax pouring, chasing, and mold-making. There are other mold making substances that are more like a flexible rubber to peel out your plaster pieces, or make as a combination set for removal.
I once made a globe that had to be "sloshed", & another that had a window section cut out, shelled, cast, then welded back in place for a hollow orb.
(Amongst my multi-vocation, multi disciplines of varied fields.- Restaurant/Bar&Grill Fine-dining FOH/BOH everything, hotel services, industrial foundry, & oh yeah, corporate bookkeeper for 25 years, lol.
P.S.- I also did industrial sewing, am a home- sewer, could do embellished draperies & bedding, etc.
Home improvement, I know my way around power tools very well, enough not to skillsaw off the power cord.

Carol fantastic job on the mouldings, can you let us know what product you used for mould and what you used to stick them on with please. That wall paper you have for the China room will look superb on all the walls, but would be very expensive and may not be to your taste. colouring of all your curtains are spot on ( in my opinion). Keep up the good work, but try to rest every know and again. X
Thank you Yvonne, I bought 2 rolls from FB a couple of years ago for £20! I knew I'd use it one day, but it is still available. Was originally for Bethany, but she didn't like it and I haven't given Rebecca the choice! Siligum is the product I use for the moulds, available on amazon Cx

Carol the Blue China room are going to lok stunning. I put in two single beds in my guestroom and move the beds together for couples. I also have tall curtains and put the headings together and drape the curtains over the holdbacks. So guests can close them by taking them off the hooks.

@ bags are packed, complete with sticky back plastic and toilet roll centres in case you have more projects planned 😜 Yes I can cook and my husband John can make cracking bread so I thought I’d bring him with me to do that while I cook and he can keep the grass cut for you too. Seriously, would love to come one day and help out. We live in Nova Scotia, Canada so it might take a while. Lol. In the meantime, keep at it. You’re both doing a wonderful job.

Fascinating! Do you find the new plaster-of-Paris to be brittle? Also, if possible, please show us how you mix paint, for the plaster moldings, to match the surrounding woodwork. What you have done so far looks really nice.
Thank you, the plaster of Paris took a few days to dry properly and then I wouldn't say brittle, just easier and lighter to sand. I forgot to show but it was just a scumble glaze and a small amount of raw umber paint.
I love the dedication and patience in taking the time to get the missing and broken pieces reproduced to help bring each room back into glory. I saw you had a bit of a tricky time with getting the molding undone... is it a possibility of using some kind of a quick release sprayed onto the pieces before the pieces are pressed into the putty? I watch another RUclips channel and he uses a spray before pouring resin. I am not sure if that would damage the original pieces or negatively affect the molding material but just something I thought of. Another thing... and this may be situational IF someone around has this... would be to make a 3-D scan of those pieces and have them 3-D printed? I've seen prices of 3-D printers come down so if someone you know has one that can get some of those pieces fabricated could save time and speed up the small details?

Can you believe Adrian mentioned the 3d printer, after I'd done the dining room!!! Oh well. I think that was just a tricky bit, but have been told that a little bit of oil on the piece, helps the mould come off easily. Not looking forward to the mouldings in the salon, they wrap around corners 😮
@ Sounds like a 3D printer would be ideal for the salon mouldings. Save you so much time and effort.
