    Great sharp pictures! Thanks very much. I recall standing on "The Rocks" in the eastern Kaimanawas about 10 years ago and seeing Makorako in the distance in front of the TNP mountains in the background.

    Enjoyed that vid thanks. I’ve done a few trips into the Rangitikei of late for the fishing, so know 1st hand just how much work you guys have put in to make that trip reality. If you ever plan to do that again, I can pass on details for the spur you were referring to for getting down into the Rangitikei. It looked like you might have just missed it. I have a good option for climbing out the river up to Thunderbolt closer to the private block too. Cheers for the vid!

    Hey mate, great vid. Can tell by your channel you're pretty experienced in this area. I'm looking to do a walk over the thunderbolt to the Rangitikei myself. Would you mind possibly flicking through the route you take? Or where you found access to the best route? Cheers!

    Hey mate awesome looking trip, what’s the water situation up along the tops where you were?

    • @huntingforadventure9977
      @huntingforadventure9977  Год назад

      pretty short supply up there. Between leaving the rangitaiki and getting to makoako there was 3 spots to get water. After makorako there was no good water until back down in the rangitaiki. there is some side creeks but too choked up to get into.

    Awesome to see that country again. I hunted it a lot 20 odd years ago.
    Coincidentally, my best little mate on many of those trips was a black and white dog that looks remarkably similar to yours.
    Great memories

    Great video, tramp and hunt!! It brings back many memories; I am 67 and first hunted the Waipakihi when I was 17. I am planning on going back later this year but maybe will take it easy and walk up the river until it gets tricky. Your effort proves how young and fit you are, well done!

    Awesome stuff!
    I remember watching your first effort so it’s really cool you tried again & ticked that box.
    Looks like some magic country in there, well done 👍

    Epic adventure, I would love to have come for the hike Jethro. It all looked all a bit familiar up to the Thunderbolt and there you started to lose me, did you have a topo recording? Gosh, you find lots of camps, congrats on summiting Makorako. Doe any of it cross the private area?

      Yeah was simple enough. Usual rules like no hunting ect and they were ok with us camping in upper rangi as there wasn't any fisherman using it.

      @@huntingforadventure9977 That’s good to hear they are letting people do that. The campsite you came to with the old table used to be one of the remote experience helipads doc opened up in the early 2000s over spring. Stayed there a few times. Was known as Whakamaru tops. Used to shoot a lot of reds around those tops. I suspect numbers are coming back up there again. Hopefully doc re visit the REZ helicopter access again or else deer numbers will get out of control and we all know what comes next .

      @@philbrightwell2243 Thanks Phil, was quite impressed by that piece of country and thought the access is most likely via mangamaire drop off then a hike to the tops. I think there is cameras monitoring deer movement up there and reports are that deer are pretty skinny.
