The comments from men in this thread are easy to identify. What Tripp is saying is use this time to mature. What a lot of men say in response to women's poor dating choices is "choose better." Well, you choose better by maturing and not "dating dumb. " That is a room full of women that probably got into a lot of adult scenarios waaaaaay too early in life. And kept making the same bad choices. Young ladies who have been disrespected, coerced, abused, betrayed, have high body counts, become single mothers, and then told we are the reason we are the victims. Something has to change. And we can only change ourselves, not anyone else. So we are unlearning and relearning a lot so we can show better for ourselves, families, and communities.
He is absolutely spot on with his advice. I send so many of his clips to my therapy clients so they can hear a MAN say it, too, because so many have no guidance or healthy perspective from any male in their life and they need to hear and see how a male with wisdom presents so they have an idea what to look for!
I love Tripp and I know he means well if I would offer a different perspective i believe if she really has a desire to pursue marriage also she should position herself at this age and invest in herself for the time she is looking forward to settlling down, sometimes we don't really have as much time as we think we do. And its cool to explore but sometimes we can lose the best time to invest in ourselves while we young thinking we can do it later only to be affected later by the stuff we are doing now in our youth and didn't prep or posture ourselves correctly for things we desire. In this case if marriage or a man is what she desires.
I definitely second that! Now is the perfect time to find out who you are as a person. You might realize that having children is not what you want out of life or marriage for that fact. People sometimes feel as though they need to make certain moves because the society at large creates these benchmarks or milestones for you to check off as you pursue life and then we tell the next generation to do the same while we spend the latter years of our existence regretting those choices. Walk the path you choose to make.
I don't know about the "order" of things here. Sounds like prioritizing and working towards a husband Should start before the age of 30. What happens if you are still finding yourself after 30 ? Would the pressure from family and loved ones be valid then ?

Just because you dating and doing what you do to meet your needs doesn't mean you can flip it like a switch when you finally meet someone you like enough to try to build with. You need practice and the longer you go without that practice the harder it will be on you when you finally decide to do it.
She was really pretty, and im sure she has a ton of guys looking to be with her, so with that said i think she should also have been told while she doing her, refining her taste, and live it up, she will collect a little baggage, if she dont fully protect herself she may get a baby, so by the time she do reach 30, her accomplishment, her goals, her exploration will not guarantee the man she will be looking for. No. The toxic family is the burden. Had my son after 30 and was just fine. People need to stop pushing women to marry the wrong person just to check a box. Women have babies well into their 40s and 50s. And honestly those women are probably a bit more patient because they have succeeded in goals and established themselves more.
Not every woman want kids and every woman shouldn't have been. You know how many women have kids they did not want because people like you think they should be worried about a biological clock? No kids are better than unwanted kids with a deadbeat. Tripp is absolutely correct. It's only men who think a woman's biological clock is a disadvantage.
The burden is having children with a man who does not want to have a family. The burden is marrying a man who wants a wife but has no intention of being a husband. Or having a husband who still wants a single life. That's a burden. So don't feel forced into relationships that you shouldn't be in.
Terrible advice, for any and everyone. We, as a society, actually need MORE people getting married and having children starting in their 20's. Society is the opposite of "centering yourself". This is a massively antisocial message.

And what I'm saying is factual, because you look at black statistics, the are more unmarried women with children, then there are married women with children. And of those married, a portion of them aren't married to the first man that they had those kids with.
In the DMV (DC,MD,VA metropolitan area) childcare cost can get hectic. But taking care of a child in general is going to surpass your college tuition several times over.

Absolutely. But I don't think he's pandering. In other communities that's how it is done. Children grow up in healthy homes that value and promote marriage within their own community. That hasn't happened for us for decades. Actually, we pride ourselves on intra racial humiliation, multiple blended families, trying to create healthy, uncommitted families and breeding out. None of those are helping to establish healthy black families. So, as black women, we have to think about, unlearn and relearn a lot before we enter into relationships. Otherwise, we are the ones who suffer the most.
