Why pay the designer $12,000 for choosing tile, chandeliers, and wallpaper??!! Tarek has enough experience to know what looks good. That seemed like a waste of money considering he was "trying to watch costs". 🙄
Who leaves their home like that?!?! What a total disaster! Even if I only had a day or two to move out, it wouldn't be left like that! It's perfection now, both inside and out. That backyard was totally transformed into a mini oasis.

This house is kinda bizarre... Normally even a eviction or foreclosure, the clothes and alot of the personal items would be gone. This house looks like the people just walked out with their wallets😳. Could be a death, divorce, jail, or elderly person moving to a nursing home.

I just think it would be an interesting show to know the backstories. The furniture is in reasonable condition and I noticed some rather interesting vases/urns on the fireplace mantel, plus the indoor plants look alive. Maybe in this case the owners are still around somewhere and will come and grab what's salvageable after it's sold. But I'm thinking not because when they start the demolition I can still see a live pot plant in the background.

It might actually teach other people how NOT to let that happen. Or maybe I'm just a sticky-beak who wants to know the ins and outs of everyone's lives LOL

Some people here in the comments saying -- good job -- to Tarek, but it´s all done by the HGTV folks - even that designer is a plant, it has all been decided a lot earlier for each episode by HGTV exclusive contractors in the area. Most shows on HGTV have major fake zones - House Hunters don´t hunt for any houses, since the participants already put an offer on a house and are probably on escrow. Love or List it - same thing, the people hiring Hillary and David already made their decision, in some episodes the new house is already bought, and in other cases, two endings are taped, depending on the list of episodes on that day - they want some sort of even result. Then shows like this one and so many others, the hosts are just for show. In this show, Tarek does do some things for the purchasing of the house, but the contractors´ management and design - all done by HGTV teams. Maybe those teams give Christina some options to appear in front of the cameras as making decisions, but it´s all just for show. Regardless, Tarek and Christina did have some chemistry in the first seasons, then I think the pressure of the show plus Tarek´s cancer put too much stress on the couple... Tarek seems to have an alpha male personality and Christina can´t figure out what she wants - after Tarek, she got married to some English guy and got divorced a few months later, like what a mess... The houses are beautiful - but again, not sure how much of what we see is staging, how much is for real, so... HGTV always finds a way to fake it...

I love to get reno ideas from Tarek and Christina. But no matter how well they renovate a house, I would NEVER want to live in So-Cal. The houses that they're paying a quarter million to a couple of million in places like Buena Park and Anaheim (for instance) would cost maybe $130 thousand here in the Midwest. Other than near perfect weather, Southern California has nothing going for it. It's incredibly crowded, it takes forever to drive anywhere, the summers are long, hot and dry (hence all the brush fires), you have to feel guilty for watering your lawn and California has some of the stupidest laws on the books. I can see why people are fleeing by the thousands daily!

I don't think it is because of their split. They have already said that they are gonna do the show together, DESPITE being divorced. Good for them!

Wait, 20K for that size of a kitchen??? In labor only? or materials only? If total cost, it's BS

Yeah, no way in coastal So Cal does ANY kitchen of any size get completely redone, with high end appliances, for anywhere close to 20K. Total joke. It would costs any normal person WAY more than that.

first of all, thank GOD no whiny ex wife twisting her face at every predictable "hardship" like the smell and the mess. Place is gorgeous, railing is superb and the lights r fantastic. High end job, beautiful finishes but we r never told for how much the place sold for

I hate how Americans waste so much. This is a high end house, but it was left like a pig sty and everything was left behind. Do they just discard the entire house content and buy all new? That is part of why the world cannot sustain the population anymore. Too much wastage.

    • @AS-yz2iz
      @AS-yz2iz 2 года назад +4

You think that most Americans do that? Lol. Not a chance. I've never seen that before these shows. You really shouldn't judge people based on "reality" shows. They aren't very realistic.

    • @L.Spencer

Part of the problem is how much stuff Americans have accumulated. Garages aren't for cars, storage companies are everywhere. When relatives pass away descendents are left with rooms of stuff to figure out what to do with.

You do know that they are in California right?? The state where celebrities and Tech people live. The rest of America doesn't live like this.

    • @jenniferlawrence9473

@Marie Slabbert You really shouldn't judge. I'm sure people are wasteful wherever it is you live. This was probably a foreclosure based on what was left behind and the previous owners were locked out due to non-payment. Educate yourself.

@@jenniferlawrence9473 No Jennifer, people are very aware of the ecology and our influence on it where I live, which is not in America. Everybody recycles. Unwanted stuff are given to poor people or to charity organisations. That is why this whole scale wastage is so disturbing.
