    Disclaimer: After careful consideration and a whole lot of thought, this video will remain in our rotation. We recognize that the individual featured may polarize opinions; however, our decision not to take down the content stems from a commitment to exploring the complex fabric of the fashion industry, not from an endorsement of the individual’s views. Our intention in using this example is to delve into the underlying dynamics of how controversial figures continue to influence product sales and market trends. This serves as a learning case study aimed at fostering a deeper understanding among our viewers.
    It’s important to clarify that we, in no way, share or support any hurtful comments made by the individual in question. Our goal is to provoke thought, not to propagate harm. We believe that the strength of our community lies in its diversity and the open exchange of ideas. Yielding to the demands of any single group would compromise the democratization of our platform. We are here to challenge each other, confront the issues of our time, and explore their relevance to the world of fashion and beyond.
    Creating an echo chamber where only agreeable voices are heard would do a disservice to our mission. It is through tension and challenge that we gain a clearer understanding of the world around us. While we do not condone hate speech, derogatory comments, or actions that cause distress, we also stand against the outright silencing of voices, especially when there’s no intent to harm.
    We extend our sincerest apologies to those who may find the content unsettling. Our primary aim is to ignite debate and discussion, encouraging our community to engage with difficult topics head-on. I personally do not support any form of hate speech or actions that foster division. However, stifling dialogue is not the solution. We hope this content serves as a catalyst for learning, understanding, and respectful discourse.
    Thank you for taking the time to consider our position. We invite you to join us in this complex journey, as we continue to explore the intersections of fashion, culture, and society.

If you've been paying attention the man has influenced so much of modern music, to modern men's fashion. It's wild to realize how many lines of connection you can draw coming from him as it relates to our current culture. Even if you're not a Kanye fan, I'm sure there's some aspect of your life or interests that has been shaped by him.

    I was late to this video and I’m kinda surprised at the amount of apparent blowback. I saw you were doing a live I haven’t caught it yet. I don’t see a problem with this video. It’s not a strict Japanese fashion video but I don’t mind that at all. Ye is polarizing to say the least but the marketing aspect of this release is interesting and I enjoyed hearing your take on it Reg. It’s not so much a video about him as it’s a video about the implications of what he was able to do with his brand recently. To anyone that’s outraged by this video, you do have the choice to just skip it and catch the next one. Unsubbing or threatening to unsubscribe or anything along those lines seems way overboard IMO. Hope the night wasn’t too stressful for you and the CASUAL team. Appreciate the quality content as always.

      @@THECASUALco How is that important to the analysis at all? You literally start off the video by talking about how the product and the way it was marketed could change the game and how genius it was and then later on bring up that everyone has their personal bias against/about him or whatever. Then you proceed to make jabs while saying you aren't going to voice them by saying that he's a man who needs professional help. Just own up to your opinions at that point is all I'm saying LMAO

    • @THECASUALco
      @THECASUALco  4 месяца назад +5

      @@reignFX. I said "his NAYSAYERS will say.." I'm emphasizing the point that while he has detractors it simply doesn't matter to his relevancy. That's not a jab that's a fact. That analysis is important b/c it puts into context EXACTLY why that despite those who disagree (which include myself) there is a lesson to learn. Further, what you choose to hear and what is actually said are two different things. I said what I said about myself BECAUSE it's important to know that I too have those biases and yet I am able to cast that aside for a more informed take. I'm attempting to give those who listen a chance to also reconcile with that. As a fan (if you are one) this is not relevant to you. But as a detractor it certainly is.

    Aight Reggie. I love you bruv. Seriously.
    But I have to say my piece on this whole thing, and we are definitely NOT going to agree here. You'll probably discount whatever I say here because of your experience in the industry of marketing... but I also know a lot about the marketing world - and how disgusting it is.
    Business is about making money. We all want to make it. Mainly because we live in a capitalistic hellscape from which regular people cannot escape or find true comfort within due to the financial caste system that oppresses us. That's not even counting the mounds and mountains of other hateful ideological foundations at the feet said system.
    Marketing is the most evil concept ever conceptualized by humankind... and we can blame none other than Edward L. Bernays --- a man so corrupt in his manipulation that just hearing him speak makes you question his humanity. Marketers (such as you and I) know that the game is all about manipulation, and predatory psychology. If we are being honest about Kanye, and we should be... He is benefitting from smart marketing know-how and a ton of previous resources (Adidas, and other Hip-Hop legends) that forged and founded the empire he sits upon. He was once one evaluated as one of the richest celebrities in the world.
    That value doesn't just completely evaporate over night. J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter franchise didn't just cease to exist and still makes ridiculous profits despite the hateful garbage bandwagons she jumps on. Marketing preys on apathy, you know this, I know this. It's why people still buy big-box retailer clothing made in sweat shops. The messaging is manufactured to make justifying buying it easier. Throw away your logic, and moral stances - because this is "culturally important"
    Sadly with how you're praising the man here it comes off similarly to somebody being like "Goebbels was actually kind of a genius, and we should all acknowledge that" without fully condemning what an evil person, and the evils that his contributions to "culture" helped to propagate. Because yeah, Goebbels was a genius in marketing. He helped to convince and entire country that it was cool to believe in the most heinous evil garbage known to man.
    Anyways, I don't think you meant harm by this. It comes off more as you just admiring the knowledge and deftness with which Kanye can sell a man his own car --- but I just don't think it's a take I can vibe with. I watched your livestream and I think the nuance of your conflicted stance on the whole thing came out better there. Here it just sort of feels like you're weaseling away from acknowledging exactly what kind of hateful shit he's done - in favor of being like "IT WAS GENIUS THO!"
    Sure. He sold some folks $20 sock shoes... honestly not surprising. I still see people wearing Yeezy's today.

    • @THECASUALco
      @THECASUALco  4 месяца назад +8

      Nothing you said here was false. I agree totally and you are right. The unfortunate reality is that I have to challenge myself and the community to think about these things WITHOUT my biases showing.
      In a live format I always give my raw take b/c its warranted. I don't always get it right but I always let my stance be known. However I cannot change minds by speaking in an echo chamber. Our goal is not to fight these individuals BUT to get them onside. So that they may listen and be aware of the situation.
      With more knowledge and understanding we are free from the shackles of marketing. By attacking the messenger we only create more tension and aggressive response.
      Understand I HEAR you but there is more at play than simply "ye is a genius". You know this. I know this. There is a method to the madness.
