There are several reasons, Firstly, it’s very difficult to get “Good enough” Violin instrument in reasonable price. There are very few violin for left-handed player. Left-handed Violin is quite different from normal one, the problem is not on only chinrest, but the order of strings (G-D-A-E, or E-A-D-G). And you can’t see inner structure though, the inner structure of Violin is not symmetric. This is the reason why it’s difficult to get good violin for left hand player. Secondly, the Violinist who use Violin for left-handed may have trouble in Orchestra. Because the stage and orchestra pit, both are often very narrow and crowded. Lastly, I think it’s not critical problem which hand we use for bow, or putting down strings. Of course, I can’t use the bow with left hand, and I can’t hold Violin in right shoulder and right arm and hand. I can’t do that, but it does not follow that neither you can’t do that. (Ah, I mean you can hold “normal” Violin on left hand, and take bow in your right hand.) If you play Piano only now, I think you can try “nomal” Violin. I guess, if you play “left-handed” Guitar now, probably it will be very difficult to learn “normal Violin”. These are in my opinion though, I hope these will help you.
