This is EXACTLY what I was trying to do - set up an easy way to switch between custom and shooting banks. Thanks! Bank A is for all around shooting, Bank B is for landscape, Bank C is for wildlife, and Bank D is for astrophotography. Thanks again!
Hi and thanks. I wish to be able to quickly switch between memory banks on a Z8. I presently use the i-meny and one of the thumbwheels but I am still too slow. Can I set up a custom button to switch back and forth between memory bank A and memory bank B ? Grateful for your help.
Hi Bengt, I don't think so. I tried to allocate the two memory bank controls to buttons but for some reason you can only assign the 'shooting menu bank' to a button but not the 'custom setting bank'. The best hack I have found is allocating the two menu banks to the 'My Memory' and then assigning 'My Memory' to a custom button. This way when I press the fn3 button My Memory comes up and I can get to the two menu banks settings from there.👍
different functions of custom bank and shooting bank is still unot understandable. Please explain. Also I thought the Extended Bank controls changing in between banks that would keep the settings on each bank separate, or does it keep only one setting across banks. I'l an artist sometimes confused with linear thought, lol. Pls explain soon as I am using this in a few days, thanks. D4s
Great video, question for you, where are the Banks stored? Another video on youtube, stated that its only stored in the SD card, so if you take the sd card, it looses the Banks? Is this true?
Have a quick question regarding the Z8. So it seems that when I am modifying the “shooting banks” eventually my shutter speed numbers change from a 1/xxxx to random numbers. Any thoughts on this? Does this have to do with the “extend shooting menu” option? The only way to get the camera back to displaying the shutter speed as usual is to “reset” camera settings
Can I make menu bank A for photo settings and then B for 4k24 then C for 4k60 then D for 4k120? I want to shoot aperture priority in bank A but manual video in BCD.. can’t figure it out
Nikon has the worst, most horrific, menu bank system I've ever encountered on ANY product over the past 3 decades. It is so god-awful bad and ridiculous, I'm considering ditching my Nikon system for another brand. The only thing worse would be for Nikon to produce a lens that doesn't utilize the Arca-Swiss standard. Doh!
How do you have your menu banks set up? What do you use each one for?

I don't understand why Nikon had to make these menu banks so complicated. It makes no sense at all

its not to clear to me how or when the camera saves the settings for each bank. on my Z6 you save the settings to U1/2/3
