In Houdini, you can double click on most nodes and see how they are made. The labs building generator is quite complex, but you can look at the internal workings to see how it was created and figure out how to make your own generator.
Oh man you are my biggest inspiration to learn Houdini. I am finding it really hard compared to the other software I am learning, but today I made a procedural wall almost entirely by myself! Big milestone. Wall today, city tomorrow haha :D
I'm loving Houdini, and your tutorials are very good for diving in and getting a good idea of the (many) different ways to turn ideas into reality. Thanks!
Amazing content! Just one question, if I use the built-in building generator from SideFXLabs as you shown in this video, Would I be able to reuse it by just changing the parts of the building? Say I have a 3d kitbash set already built but want to generate a whole new structure and variations from other modular pieces , Would that be possible with this workflow? Many thanks
Very cool. That Object Merge technique is awesome for using within UE. I booleaned out a little wall and plugged it in to the Bldg Gen Utility node, then to the Bldg Gen node, but my windows weren't cutting out. Just one big slab. I was wondering if you did anything special in your wall subnetwork you made? thanks again!
could you please suggest, why labs generator utility node is being created not in zero coordinates? It shifts the geometry away by that value when trying to build the entire structure. In my case, I have to shift my wall_A block manually by x = -0.08, y=0.5, z=0.5, then it is placed exactly in the center of that utility. A bug?
Awesome video thanks for sharing. Please could you let me know what background mountains/Environment you are using in your Unreal Engine scene, looks great. thanks.
Me: trying to create some mods for Fallout 4 with the creation kit.... Him: Actually creating stuff in a day that would take me months..... Damn... :( I want this!
Sure you can generate the inside of buildings as well. Loop over each floor and get the blueprint or top view of each floor and divide it into pieces for rooms.
Great quick tutorial, I’ve been using and figuring out the building generator for a few months now. I think the object merge may be my final missing piece. Do you know if this works in unity as well, I had some issues getting it into the engine.
@@simonhoudini5074 I'm legit a meme, sorry mean the sidefx labs, installed it, the last version too, but notting, i dont have your same tools, i will give a try to the manual method, maybe its can help
I noticed u always end up making ur own tool instead of using the labs one. If u are in contact with the development team why don't they implement ur ideas in the official tools to make them better? is like u guys had a tool war
The Labs building generator was made for a general and most building types. But that makes it also a bit limited if you want a specific feature. So I wanted some more specific controls for a roof and other modular asset placement. It is also great practice building it.
Simon, now we need actual tutorial on you version of building generator :)
This is amazing! Would really love to see how you go about creating your own generator.

I'm using labs tool but this is beyond that 🤯, love to see the tutorials.
I'm starting my adventure with Houdini but man, this is like from the other planet or even dimension! Thanks for sharing.
great intro, i'd still love to get a tutorial on this if you find the time ^^ Very interesting

Best tutor in the World!
Hey man, cool to see we were the inspiration for you with our tutorials!
You are a procedural monster!
great video thanks for the introduction
I love this bro great job and thank you

very cool work!
Please make a tutorial. This is amazing!
Great job and thanks for answer on the ArtStation.
Wow you sound just like Arrimus 3D lol. Nice video
I would love a complete tutorial on this building generator.

Brilliant ! :)

Thanks! I used Quixel assets to make the background. Mainly from the icelandic collection.

Please add back these additions to the labs tools.
How did you solve the illegal floor issue?
Insane
Amazing work! Is it possible to generate spaces inside buildings also in a way that they are playable inside?
Sure you can generate the inside of buildings as well. Loop over each floor and get the blueprint or top view of each floor and divide it into pieces for rooms.
Simon, can I ask you for help or order you to create an HDA to automate my game on unreal engine 5.4?
any guide or tutorials

Yes, this will work in Unity as well. The menu/interface might look a bit different in Unity
can we do this in Houdini Indie?
Please make a tutorial. You are the best.
So how you building generator created ? tutorials or link to download?
thanks
Arrimus for Houdini? could it be ?
i have the indie license, i installed the steam lab but i can not still find the build generection
Steam Labs? What you are looking for are the Sidefx Labs , www.sidefx.com/products/sidefx-labs/sidefx-labs-tools/
