Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of this masterful performance by Angelina - at only 7 years old (& English is not her 1st language). I highly recommend her other 3 NGT performances: I'm A fool To Want You, Bang, Bang & Summertime. And - following her NGT win, there are a couple of amazing performances while she was 8: What A Difference A Day Makes which Angelina sang at a Norwegian outdoor summer music festival - & her US debut on The View singing Fly Me To The Moon (& her appearance includes a short interview in which she answers the question as to how old she was when she first started singing). Looking forward to more of your Angelina reactions. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.

Sir, she is a gift from beyond. At the age of 3, THREE, she had planned her life goals. Singing at the peace prize Nobel celebration, CHECK. Performing at the "Simon show" (Got Talent show), CHECK twice. She sang for the Obamas, and a lot of other famous people.
God gave her a high intelligence, like her mother and her grandma. Remember she met that shoeless girl at age 6, in Iran and talked with her, in persian Farsi. She sang at a special concert in Japan for a exclusively japanese audience in English and JAPANESE. At age 8 she spoke to a German TVCrew, haltingly, in GERMAN.
God and the Good Lord were generous to this soul.
    Be safe sir.
    Elmar from Germany

For everyone who thinks "why does a 7 year old girl sing a song like that??? "
Here is a quote from Angelina (7y) from an interview with TV2 after her Audions NTG 2014. "The reason I chose this song is completely random. I love jazz, but" Gloomy Sunday "was random. It was a night I could not sleep and my mother was stressed that I was awake long after midnight. Then I borrowed my mom's iPad where I wanted to listen to jazz on RUclips before I fell asleep. Then came a picture of a beautiful lady screaming at the sky and with her eyes closed. I heard the song "Glommy Sunday" that night and then I had to hear it every day. I love the melody. I understood well what the text was about because I know English well. Every time I sang it I felt something special about it, it's hard to explain in words. When I sang it for mom, she said that this song is nice, but that it was incredibly sad song. " 💯 *AJ* 💯 BTW, Angelina's mother Sara said in an interview on Norwegian TV when Angelina was about 11/12 years old, *only Angelina chooses the songs and she only sings them the way she imagines* . 🤗🤗🤗

Duane, thank you for your reaction. Indeed, Angelina is one of a kind, as is every person and every musical artist. If anyone has yet to read the biography I compiled for Angelina, please do so now to learn of her incredible journey to date. The bio is rather long but hopefully the rumors are true, Angelina's mother has written a book of 1100 pages.
Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on RUclips. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran.
Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
    *Why Angelina always performs barefoot*
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial
Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old.
At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age.
Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The vast majority of the prize money was donated to charity benefitting poor children.
Record company executives flew their private jets to Norway to attempt to sign 8 year old Angelina but all were thankfully rebuked. Disney also made an offer but not accepted.
In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration.
Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore and Mexico among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14.
At age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. The album can be purchased on iTunes or Amazon.
On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year.
During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each.
In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter and allowed Angelina to copyright her version. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT which would give Simon any control over her career.
Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on RUclips. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On RUclips, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video.
The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her.
During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles.
In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one.
Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield”
In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song.
Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022.
In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles.
On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions.
On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go"
On July 21, 2023, her “Old Enough” EP was released with 5 new original songs: “Fire and Rain”, “Diamond”, “Now I’m the Fool”, “All My Fault” and “Good in Goodbyes”
Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be.
I encourage others to use this biography to help educate others about the love, empathy, magic and beauty that is Angelina Jordan Astar and her unique music.

She seems to be really beloved here, huh?
She has a clear voice and can play with/control it, no doubt. She sings like a big Show Girl. But that is not the assignment.
I beleve not one word she sings. May be a 7yo is not depr*ssiv enough to represent depr*ssion (to mourn wife) and sui*ide (like a non-smoker can´t possibly sing "son of a preacher man" with heart). I mean, good for her! Just not ideal to sing "Gloomy Sunday".
Btw, the Song was written by László Jávor and originaly sung by Rezsö Seress in 1933.

A 7 yr old has experienced lots of sadness, every bit as much as joy and fear and all the others. Kids experience those emotions all day and can change on a dime. You might say a child’s emotions are outsized to those of adults cause they have so little experience with them and what to do about them. Angelina expressed the deep sadness of this song, the sadness she experienced listening to Billie Holiday sing it, without needing to understand depression or suicide. That’s the part that’s remarkably unique about her, more so than even her advanced vocal technique.

    • @katherandefy
      @katherandefy Год назад +2

She understood the feeling of the song. This song is 90 years old. Wow. Thanks for the history!
This is far from the only amazing compassion and attraction AJ has for truly getting what the feeling in a song says. She is rather well known for doing her own arrangements from the age of 9 which is crazy young. But you see she has been thinking to be a superstar since she saw Whitney Houston on tv at the age of 1. Ok that also is hard to believe except it was captured on video. And she sang a phrase of “I will always love you.”
I am quite sure AJ sees it all as normal because she thinks music is the core of life. Meanwhile the rest of us mere mortals try our best to wrap our heads around this phenomena.
