Thank you Lin, for posting this musical gem. In 1990 I was living in central upstate NY. I was still getting settled in to living back home after a six year stint the Army. Upstate NY is a world of differences from Ft. Hood, Texas. I would here this song but never catch who wrote it and performed it. I've since moved to Wisconsin and play guitar in a band. Drive south came to mind after a road trip to Florida last year. I decided that I wanted to get down to the nuts and bolts of this song and see exactly how John Hiatt plays it. Surprisingly, there are very few examples of what is going on, on the fret board. This video not only shows what's going on but as a bonus it shows what's going on with the slide guitar. The band doesn't know it yet but, they are going to "Drive South".
You are welcome, flyonthewall. It's wonderful to hear from other people enjoying the music!
Drive South! It's much warmer down here. 🙂
