I saw a video where he visited a San Antonio museum that hunters donate trophy to and when recounting the story grabbed his arm and said he could still feel the claws in his arm, he was holding the wrong arm! I guess it could have been a camera issue, using the negative of the film, but I think it was a tall tale
Here's another way to look at it...The lions fate was sealed when he started killing cattle, the villagers would have killed him anyway. So why not let the rich white man pay the $20,000 for the privilege of hunting the lion. A fee paid wether he kills the lion or not. The license money goes for wildlife conservation. Remember the lion was already doomed.
@@alexsimion7190 do you not have any brains at all?? The villagers don’t give a fuck about your feelings. They care about their cattle and their way of life. When you live in conditions as rough as they do, killing the lion isn’t even a question... if it wasn’t for rich hunters, they would just poison the lion, and in turn hundreds of animals die... go live with them for a few months, and let’s see how your views are when you come back.
i think a guy with the balls to shoot a full grown lion .knows enough about bow hunting to choose his bow carefully and enough lbs to do the job ,,i am 70 and hunt bears with a bow ,always have ,
You are brave for hunting a lion with a recurve and even braver for allowing comments. True or not it's still a thrilling and entertaining tale. I am not a trophy hunter but I don't judge others who are.
Must always bring many arrows and continue shooting with as much arrows as possible. Don't wait until the animal comes near. And bring a shield as used by warriors. The shield can protect from the claws and fangs, while the right hand holding a long knife and and slash the animal.
I feel nothing but awe and respect-for this lion, fatally shot through with an arrow, and instead of writhing in pain makes a mad rush toward the shooter, in an otherwise successful attempt to kill him save for the backup rifle, I personally would feel fine about bowhunting dangerous game-as long as no backup was allowed, you know, fair chase and all...
+sun Tao but it wasn't fatally shot with an arrow, the PH's 450 Nitro Express killed it. Archery equipment very rarely kills very large game, most are eventually shot by the PH after it suffers for a long time. On most lion/buff archery hunts, as soon as the broadhead hits, the PH and tracker start slinging copper solids. Like I said before, hunting very large game with a bow is just as unethical as the rifle yahoos that attempt to take animals at 1000 yards.
Power of one- A canned lion hunt? That’s just insulting to the lion. If it wasn’t for trophy hunting the aficans and chinese would obliterate africas mega fauna into extinction. Do your research before you run your mouth, you libtard bitch
It’s not hunting that endangering most animals it’s loss of habitat from the expansion of human numbers. The exceptions are animals like rhinos and elephants that have value when killed because of their horns and ivory.
Right on. And it's not modern day sport hunter's that are poaching for ivory. It's starving locals that are lured by the root of all evil offered to them by a market based on an entirely false notion that there is medicinal value in keratin ( fingernails).
My favorite PH in RSA used to work for an outfitter that did Archery hunts for lion and buff. The archer would take his shot, and as soon as the broadhead hit its mark, the PH and tracker would immediately blast the animal with their 458 Win Mags. He felt very guilty about doing that, and the fact that many bowhunters get into the record books in such a way. Many non-hunters do not realize that a bow WILL NOT quickly/ethically kill a very large animal (even with a good shot). Actually, it even takes smaller plains game a long time to die after being shot with a bow. He quit that job 15 years ago but still regrets having taken part in such a hunt. I am an avid hunter, but must concede that bowhunting very big game is just as unethical as the rifle hunters who brag about taking 1000 yard shots on game. Have respect for your animal and the hunt. Use the appropriate tool for the job and get as close as you can for a quick/clean/humane kill. Yes, our ancestors hunted with bows - but they also had sex with 11-year olds, sacrificed people to the gods, consumed mercury, and threw children they didn't want off of cliffs. Shooting a lion with a bow from a bakkie while being backed up with an elephant gun does not make you an ethical hunter; and bragging about your kill (that you didn't actually kill and probably made suffer) makes you a pretty shitty person.
Bullsh*t if you get a perfect shot just right and you hit the upper chamber of the heart with a sufficient broadhead, I've seen elk, grizzly, wild boar, all be able to walk a few feet at most and are practically paralyzed as they loose pressure and bleed out quickly. It doesn't happen that often you either have to be very accurate or lucky or both, but it does happen and obviously more often than you believe.
@@themalhama9129 yeh I agree, what rubbish. A bow can kill just as effectively if not more effectively than some rifles. It all comes down to shot placement and projectile being used.

The targeted lion was chosen by the locals because it was killing their livestock. Hunter's pay bucks for the opportunity to hunt them.
