That looks sooooo high end (even though you make it with stuff that you have laying around)!!! Anyone cant really tell they are not glass! They are light and you cant break them! Just AMAZING. Thank you very much for this video, the PERFECT icicle DIY I was looking for! Totally making this with some not clear plastic as well.
I tried this DIY and it turned out like perfection! However, I have few tips that you might find helpeful: 1. To create better icicle shape, do not cut the strips straight, but make them a bit thinner on one side. Like a triangle, but the "tip" should not be really sharp. 2. The thinner the strip is, the easier it is to make nice and elegant curls. 3. Repeat your movements. If you got used to holding the strip in one hand and curling it with the other one, do it the same way every single time. All of the curls and shapes will look so much more uniform. 4. If your icicle ends up being a bit crooked, just hold it in your hands tightly (try to straighten it) and run it high over the flame a few times. 5. Be careful, because the plastic is always a lot warmer than you think it is. Like caramel :-)
I only have water bottles at the moment and they don't work very well as icicles. I made a bunch but I have a feeling the plastic is too thin. I asked my neighbor to save his 2 liter soda bottles for me so I'll try again when I get some. I really love this idea though.
charles mostert I hope you make these! They look great hanging on your front porch or on your tree! Get started early and you will have lots before the holiday! Thank you for watching!
I’m hosting my daughter inlaw’s baby shower and having a “winter wonderland” theme. These will be perfect hanging around whoever. Also my husband drinks 1-2 2 liters of Diet Pepsi a day so that’ll help 🙄lol
It has to be a thicker amount of plastic from soda bottle VS water bottle that's softer? This is my first sober Christmas n clear headed, so I'd love to make it beautiful, memorable, inexpensive & keep me busy. On SSI income I'm limited with my budget, but I'm creative n determined. My husband might b goin to jail so he might not get to celebrate, but goin to make the most of the time we have. I promise I'll take pictures I've got this idea of snow flakes, icicles, fairy lights all hung by kite string from the ceiling and walls, so I'll show u the finished product. Gonna make gingerbread house out of gram cracker box n snow people out of the white plastic Ensure bottles. Aim high, but reality is I've got borderline personality n that makes things difficult. Sorry such a downer not intentional. Thank u. God bless u XoJaynaoX
Shelly Larue I haven tried the water bottles but give it a try. It should work the same unless the plastic is too thin. Please let me know your results. Thanks
I know this tutorial is 7 years old but I just found it. Love it sooo much! Definitely doing this!
Have fun!!

Have fun creating! Thinner plastic seems to work the best. Let me know how they turn out.
maxandshoji I made SO many. My hands hurt from the cutting and hole punching lol. But yes, thinner comes out prettier for sure.
Does melting the plastic stink?
Very cool! Tfs

Hello, can you paint these icycles? What kind of paint can I use? Thank you
wendy s
I've never painted them, but you will need a spray paint that adheres to plastic like a krylon brand.
maxandshoji Thank you
