Not 100% sure but from my understanding regarding the samaj estate is that those properties are built specifically by that caste/tribe and a lot of times they are built as subsidized houses only for community members who belong to the same community. Basically members donate to the temple and the community and over time those funds are used to build estates to give these same members affordable housing. Hence why it is reserved specifically for them. Not only Africans but even Indians from a different community are usually not allowed to live there.

@The Traveling Miss: Assume I am a recent immigrant from India. Suppose I buy a plot of land and build a house on that land in Kenya with my own money. Assume myself and my family are living there. Are you telling me: 1. Anyone who is a Kenyan can walk into my house without my permission just because Kenya according to him is his only motherland? 2. Can any Kenyan dictate to me whom I should invite into my home or not just because Kenya according to him is his only motherland? 3. Can any Kenyan dictate to me to whom I should sell my house to if I chose to sell my house just because Kenya according to him is his only motherland? These are very simple questions. Kindly answer them in congruence with current existing laws in Kenya.

Indian community has been part of Kenya most especially east Africa for over 200 years, remember that Uganda and Kenya are former British colony,so during colony era British brought a lot of Indians as a workers most especially on the rail line from Mombasa to Kampala Uganda, the same thing happens in Guyana South America

People who care about personal life of youtubers or even celebrities make me laugh, how boring people must be to live other people life. Some folks care more about internet people than their own family. So many books to read and people waste their time to gossip about people they never met....Sorry I had to say that😅 since you got a lot of "hate" about this colabo.
My thoughts are, you are free to love who you love and feel the way you feel about them and if your love for them makes you not want to interact with their enemies, so be it. You're free to do as you please. Just don't expect everyone to be like you. Some of us don't want to fight battles that don't belong to us. I have nothing against both people and would love to collaborate with both whenever the opportunity arises as I can learn a lot from them both 🤗.
I enjoyed this episode with the Indians, I just wished you would talk a little less. You absolutely dominated the conversation and would not let your colleagues put in a word
Indians are all over the world. In Canada, they've taken the whole city (Brampton). In the USA, we have the Kisii community. In the USA and Canada, we have Chinatowns. Modern cities should embrace immigrants. Stop misusing words, Colony.
Indians are humans just like us. Whilst culture may be very central to their livelihood it defines how they even relate to other cultures abroad. The caste system, (I may not have good knowledge about it) but it is a system used to segregate certain communities some are seen as superior to others. The communities at the bottom-they are considered to be the untouchables- cannot climb the society ladder hence regarded as a people who can ONLY do menial jobs. It has been like that for centuries in India despite modernization. Now this culture hangover, is brought here in Kenya and makes them treat their employees exactly the same as the "bottom feeders ". PS. The untouchables are known as the dalit* community. There are tones of documentaries about them.
If they want to practice the caste system, then they should stay where it's practiced. This is a country where the locals have welcomed them and it is for them to assimilate not the other way round.
I love the content and the video. But please moderate your talking. You're talking Soo much that you are overpowering the other guys. Give everyone a chance.
Take it positively as constructive criticism. It can be overwhelming at times. I get it you are extroverted and chit-chatty but this is your job and you wanna broaden your audience not shrink it.
@@alexchui3511that’s unfair. As she said, this is her vlog and so, she is more dominant. On Priya’s vlog she comes across as talking more than the others. I love how Suzie talks fast.
@@ivorharry6372 When several people notice it, then it means it is a concern and should be taken as a positive feedback. I'm sure she loves what she is doing but she should also care about her audience especially if this is her livelihood. The problem is not her speaking fast per se, she speaks well and with the right diction and intonation but she can be a bit of a chatterbox that overwhelms her other interlocutors and thus denying her viewership hearing other people she is interacting with. As the viewing audience, we can only give feedback.
@alexchui3511 As I said which you happened to miss and take this as constructive feedback from me to you,you are watching this video on my channel, so I'm dominant here. When you go watch the same video on Ivain's channel, he will be dominant there, same as in Priya's channel. Or in simple terms, you are watching my part of asking him questions and in the other channels you will watch their parts of them asking him questions. Ça va?
I never knew that place existed, find out what was there before and how that community came about it's like the way Somalis invested estleigh and Kenyans got misplaced..
@@the_traveling_missIvain Tures was quick to judge by saying Abidjan was more developed than Nairobi after being in Nairobi for only 2 days! I laughed it off and I knew he would change his mind quickly once he starts moving around. I mean Abidjan is beautiful and probably the most developed in the whole of West Africa but there's no way it is more advanced than Nairobi. No West African city can hold a candle to Nairobi. As Kenyans we don't appreciate our capital city or even the country until we move to other countries. I'm sure you can attest to that since you've traveled widely in Africa.
Ive been reading the replies to the comments and your responses are not really good especially to me. You create the impression that indians don't want to mingle with Africans yet they have been here for decades. Indians have provided employment to many Kenyans. Those apartments are only rented by a particular group of indians but everywhere else indians live among Africas. Have you been to other towns in Kenya and see how they live or even Ngara and parklands. Stop generalizing. The Kenyan Indians are even 6th generation. They have no where else to call home. Majority have never been to India. Stop saying that they have a second home. They have a right to be in Kenya like every one else.
All you have said is correct but it also true that they could do a better job with assimilation with the rest of Kenyans. The fact that some entertain only Indians within their properties or neighbourhoods in this day and age is mind blowing. That fact alone can make them lose the goodwill of Kenyans and be discriminated against if not harm visited on them.
Indians have been here for 6 generations Africans have been here since time immemorial. I have nothing against Indians but I have everything against segregation. Those who mingle with Africans don't make it right for others to segregate. If you want to live in African, you assimilate to us coz the first generation to come here came from somewhere and they can go back there. Africans on the other hand have no where else they would even go. I am extremely curious about that estate and would definitely like to find out more about their reasons for segregation.
@@the_traveling_miss Indians all over the world have a close knit society not like Africans socializing everywhere..We should respect that. And they are not going to change just because you call it segregation.
Many Indians in Kenya believe in the religious caste system that is honestly segregationist. There are those among them who belong to higher castes and esteem themselves as superior to people of other castes and races. Very sad, in my view.
INDIAN COLONY? what a catchy but misleading heading? indians were brought to kenya by british to build the railways in late 1800s. and when we say indians we mean before it broke with pakistan. others were taken to south africa, trinidad and tobago, fiji and guyana.. its good to research before you mislead..after independence many were in limbo and stateless after britain blocked immigration to UK. those in kenya are just that. kenyans.

Such an interesting video and so educative.. I mean I never knew this place existed before. Wooow. And how they don't integrate!!!!
Me neither. I was truly shocked. We need a covert operation there soon😊.
Indians. JEWS, ARABS, NIGERIANS no matter where or which ever country they go to always prefer living eith nd amongst their own community's that way they gell together know md follow their culture traditions foods level of noise peace etc. Plus it makes them feel at home.
@tombimashri8149 Yes but they also need to remember that it is not their home as much as they are feeling at home. They've been welcomed by the locals and should try to assimilate.
Hi in this blog, since you are three and the people you are interviewing are almost similar, I would love to see your colleagues participating in asking questions.
When you watch the videos on their channel, you will see that they also asked their own different questions. This is just my part of the video😊.
@@the_traveling_miss well noted, that is wow
The guy that said Abidjan is more developed that Nairobi after being in Nairobi for 2 days has absolutely no idea of what he is talking about. I lived and worked in the whole of west Africa and there is no city in west Africa that is more developed that Nairobi.
Abijan looks really nice from the photos and videos too. I can't wait to get there someday but from all the cities I've been to so far, Nairobi remains undefeated.😊
even me i have been to nariobi, addisababa kigal etc,i know all west africa, abidjan is more beautiful than nariobi.
@@aboosis4690 well been to a city doesn’t mean you know it well. Am sure you went to kibera and generalized the whole city. Ask yourself why United Nations and many world organizations chose Nairobi as headquarters.

I'm so sorry about your experience. 😔
Tell me where the place is located in Karen and I'll go find it😊.
@The Traveling Miss: Assume I am a recent immigrant from India. Suppose I buy a plot of land and build a house on that land in Kenya with my own money. Assume myself and my family are living there. Are you telling me:
Before I answer you, let me ask you, do you know anything about Apartheid in South Africa?
@@the_traveling_miss Yes. What is the relevance?

Indian community has been part of Kenya most especially east Africa for over 200 years, remember that Uganda and Kenya are former British colony,so during colony era British brought a lot of Indians as a workers most especially on the rail line from Mombasa to Kampala Uganda, the same thing happens in Guyana South America

No I have leaved in India as an Kenyan African you can't work or start a business as an African in India it's next to impossible especially if you black African ,yet in Kenya they even have successfully businesses they have a place where they can leave alone and they don't allow black African ,I mean what's that about
There you have told a lie. How can someone deny you the right to live anywhere in Kenya? Go to Parklands and Westlands you will find lots of apartments being sold by the same same Indians and anyone can buy if you have the money.
Did you not watch the video and see that they are denying Africans the right to live in this estate that is in our own country?
@@the_traveling_miss I have no words it so sad how the Indians discrimination against black African in Africa where countries like Kenya the richest person is an Indian and yet in there on country your not aloud even to start a small shop stall
I really enjoyed this vlog.. i was getting triggered aswell but the guy explained. Its a shame you couldn't go to the estate and show us. I didn’t think indians stayed in langata. I only knew of parklands, ngara pia south c they were many but moved now fill of somali's Thanks for sharing kama kawaida 💕
I was also very surprised tbh. I'm going to try and find out more about this place though. I'm curious about this whole segregation thing😅.

Remember what Mugabe did to the Indians, read your history. That is why maybe they have their own "settlements".
Mugabe or Idi Amin? I know about Idi Amin of Uganda and the asians and Mugabe and the British Settlers.

Thanks Susan

Niel Armstrong when landed on moon, was shocked too, let alone Nairobi 🤣
Huh?!
I went to high school with Indians in Kenya, the reason they don't want to mix, is because of religion and fear of their children intermarrying.
They should stay in their country then where the chances of intermarrying are next to nil.😅
Indians are all over the world. In Canada, they've taken the whole city (Brampton). In the USA, we have the Kisii community. In the USA and Canada, we have Chinatowns. Modern cities should embrace immigrants. Stop misusing words, Colony.
It's a colony when they control everything even where and what the locals can and cannot access.
The British ruled Indian for 300 years but couldn’t not change their culture.
I'm pretty sure they changed a little something but not as much as us😅.
Take Priya in Parklands....it's now called small India
She's already been. She liked it there😊.
@@the_traveling_miss ooooh nice....I like your energy en keep going my sister
@@the_traveling_miss just like us (kikuyu) we go with our cultural beliefs everywhere. It is hard to detach oneself.

I love the content and the video. But please moderate your talking. You're talking Soo much that you are overpowering the other guys. Give everyone a chance.
Go watch their channels and see that everyone got their shot at asking questions. You have watched only one of the three that we made😅
Take it positively as constructive criticism.

Hi Suzy
Hi ya🤗
@@anakisanoldnoriginalYTits a fact that indians look down on Africans. Some sort of superiority complex and brainwashing by colonisers.

The word you are looking for why there are no Africans there is "racism". You are welcome.
Many Indians in Kenya believe in the religious caste system that is honestly segregationist. There are those among them who belong to higher castes and esteem themselves as superior to people of other castes and races. Very sad, in my view.
Yes that is insane for a place like Africa
The caste system is dying out in India.
In every country in the world there was segregation.
So it's acceptable in India but when they leave India, they have to assimilate with the culture of where they are going.

INDIAN COLONY? what a catchy but misleading heading? indians were brought to kenya by british to build the railways in late 1800s. and when we say indians we mean before it broke with pakistan. others were taken to south africa, trinidad and tobago, fiji and guyana.. its good to research before you mislead..after independence many were in limbo and stateless after britain blocked immigration to UK. those in kenya are just that. kenyans.
