  • Is racism still a problem in America today? It might sound like a simple question with a simple answer, yet it is also a somewhat controversial one depending on who you ask. In this video, I will seek to answer this question definitively by summarizing data from an article published recently in Business Insider.
Racist Behavior: A behavior that discriminates against a person based on their racial group membership.
Racism: Discrimination that has become institutionalized in the policies and practices of an organization.

Just because we’re desegregated doesn’t mean it just went away

The answer is no! Race issues actually held people back!! Today, racism isn’t holding me back and those who said YES then you would fold if you were living back then! People from back then would be grateful for the freedom they’d have! Blacks are in all the American sports that are popular! We have black owned everything now with no people bombing them because of color so please don’t beat this man up if you think he is making it sound like race isn’t a issue😢

consider the first video in the series from 3:33 to 6:24. Consider the value of muliculturalism over color blindness, I think the dude makes some good points.
However, I do agree that infantilization (I am not aware of a better word, just generally in the LC-HW way of thought) of minority groups in an effort to 'support' them from what has happened in the past is a valuable concern. However that is still racism, just to the other way. The belief that the minority group needs support (and are incapable without) is still a stereotype and I agree not necessarily good.
That said, just because you subjective experiences have shown minimal impacts of racism, the data still shows that on a large institutional scale, it is still present.
