It took me half the video to realize he was not deformed, that the ‘muscles’ were part of the costume. At first, I thought “what did this skater do to his upper body??!”
Plushenko is such a legend. He’s one of those champions that made even the hardest moves look like they came to him as easily as breathing. And this funny performance is another level where he sends himself up but still manages to pull off these incredible jumps and spins.

It's been 2 decades and I still remember watching this live on TV with a family friend. The athlete who came second was phenomenal and we were discussing that surely no one could surpass his performance and then Plushenko came and we both speechless

I will never watch a Iceskating tournament. I didn´t like it. But this guy... He showed that he can skate. And he showed that he is crazy. Unbelievable to watch that whitout a smile. That´s an incredible performance.
Wow! This is one of the few times that I'm seeing such performance! It's unique both for the choreography, the execution, the joy that he has, the concentration but at the same time letting loose. Plus, the fact that such choreo came together with the art of figure skating, makes it even more impressive

У Ягудина все только восхищаются и трясут его Зиму и дорожку шагов в Олимпийской программе, а у Евгения десятки сногсшибательных, неповторимых программ и дорожек, которые и современным спортсменам не подвластны сейчас.

I have said it many times, and it applies to ladies as well. Enough work can make anybody look good. But you are the only person alive that can make yourself sexy.
You know, that's the most expression I've seen out of him well, ever. I've only seen him in serious competitions where he just does alot of jumps pretty much. And he does them beautifully, but I always said I wanted to see more expression from him. And you could tell he was having a really good time with it.
I think that's because this is an exhibition skate, not a competition. When competing the skaters are restricted as to what music they can choose, and they must display certain elements in their choreography and do a set variety of jumps and spins to comply with the code of points. At exhibition skates they can pretty much just go nuts. Evgeny sure did!
one of my favorite EX skates of all time!! such charisma and versatility in one so young (he was like what, 19 here?). plushenko is really the whole package.
Yep, Plush is 19 here. He had debuted the program when he won his first World Championship in 2001. After skating it as his exhibition for a year, Evgeni knew the effect the program had on skating fans, which is why he's fighting off a laugh and a smirk through most of this, my favorite of his performances of "Sex Bomb." ❤

I will never watch a Iceskating tournament. I didn´t like it. But this guy... He showed that he can skate. And he showed that he is crazy. Unbelievable to watch that whitout a smile. That´s an incredible performance.

Wow! This is one of the few times that I'm seeing such performance! It's unique both for the choreography, the execution, the joy that he has, the concentration but at the same time letting loose. Plus, the fact that such choreo came together with the art of figure skating, makes it even more impressive

У Ягудина все только восхищаются и трясут его Зиму и дорожку шагов в Олимпийской программе, а у Евгения десятки сногсшибательных, неповторимых программ и дорожек, которые и современным спортсменам не подвластны сейчас.

@@Ольга-и8з1й это была олимпиада 2002 г. Победил Ягудин, потому что Плющенко упал в короткой программе, Ягудин не падал. Это падение в КП и лишило Евгения первого места. А программа у него была огонь в его харизматичной

ohhhh wow... had me grinning and then when he touched the side of his briefs and the crowd went wild. what fun.. This is the era of ice skating that I used to watch with my daughter and grandson... my beautiful light of my life grandson has now died from a terrible cancer and my daughter blames herself and so hates me...

You know, that's the most expression I've seen out of him well, ever. I've only seen him in serious competitions where he just does alot of jumps pretty much. And he does them beautifully, but I always said I wanted to see more expression from him. And you could tell he was having a really good time with it.
I think that's because this is an exhibition skate, not a competition. When competing the skaters are restricted as to what music they can choose, and they must display certain elements in their choreography and do a set variety of jumps and spins to comply with the code of points. At exhibition skates they can pretty much just go nuts. Evgeny sure did!

one of my favorite EX skates of all time!! such charisma and versatility in one so young (he was like what, 19 here?). plushenko is really the whole package.
Yep, Plush is 19 here. He had debuted the program when he won his first World Championship in 2001. After skating it as his exhibition for a year, Evgeni knew the effect the program had on skating fans, which is why he's fighting off a laugh and a smirk through most of this, my favorite of his performances of "Sex Bomb." ❤

Tout à fait décomplexé, ce qui est à l’inverse des codes traditionnels du monde du patinage artistique....il a dû en choquer plus d’un !!! D’habitude , il est courant de voir les patineuses très déshabillées , en exhibition , mais ces messieurs restent toujours très couverts !!! Merci pour l’humour, le sens de l’autodérision , c’est une exhibition de gala : c’est la fête 💪🙆💃🥳🤷💪 j’ai bien ri & ça rigole aussi dans les gradins de la patinoire ....💪🙆💃🥳🤷💪
