Bruh I’ve been trying mock this tone recently and it’s so tough 😢, I know I can’t break the bank on it, I don’t have the Jerry Finn equipment, but man i need to get close lol, I want to cover this!
It’s tough, especially since at this time he just used the most expensive gear. Mesa rectifiers and Marshall’s running in unison. Clean sound will be that British Marshall sound and dirty sound is the rectifier with the cranked clean Marshall running together. I’ve got a triple rectifier at home that I run through an orange 212 and my settings for this kinda sound are as follows: Vintage voicing, 150 watts, tube rectifier setting, spongy mode Presence: 11 o’clock Master: 11 o’clock Gain: 11 o’clock Bass: 11 o’clock Middle: 2 o’clock Treble: 11 o’clock This gets a pretty good sound without having to blend a marshall in with it. Keep in mind, you’re gonna need a pretty high output pickup for the right sounding “chugga chugga” palm muting (in my opinion, I know he used a Les Paul for some songs) If you don’t have a rectifier or rectifier style amp, your best bet is a rectifier-in-a-box type pedal.
I am willing to bet that clean sound is a Vox. A lot of people think that he used his live gear in the studio, but he didn't. He used a lot of Les Pauls, but the clean sound sounds like a single coil of some kind. It sounds like the pre-chorus tone is a slightly overdriven Vox, or something very similar. And then it sounds like that tone carries over into the chorus, and the heavily distorted tone sounds like a blend of at least three tracks. One of them sounds like it's a guitar directly into the board, rather than running through an amp. You can hear the same kind of tone on the chorus of Stockholm Syndrome by Muse right here. ruclips.net/video/Q-kJkZ0sq8c/видео.htmlsi=N6xWKkgx3SpPimt7&t=84 But Adam's Song is blended in with what sounds like three other guitar sounds to me.
Bullet Fire I thought this was the baritone version of his sig start. If not I believe he may have used a lot of Gibson’s in the studio from what I’ve seen. This is all a guess though.
Ash Bayer Yes, he used a lot of Gibson’s. He always used Jerry Finns (producer) guitars in the studio, because Jerry thought that the Invader is a little bit to “hot”.
I never realized how distorted and heavy the guitar is in the chorus, sounds killer.
The backing vocals blend with it rly well
What incredible guitar sounds! So pure and crystal clear.
lol, you call this clear? He cranked the master on a JCM900 to 10 and had the gain on 1, doesn't sound clean at all.
Robert Lowe ...so its like a compressor effect, but there’s a something like a chorus, CE-3? Mxr? Space chorus is from 2004... which????
It's a chorus steteo enhancer like stereoizer by Hbasm, search on Yt.
@@danielballarte3505 i get the same guitar sound, you just have to use Bias amp 2 and stereoizer
@@giancarlodileo5024 can you make a video about that sound?
0:45 so atmospheric
Back to childhood memories
The tune of my teenage days
That Marshall clean tone sounds absolutely amazing! One of my favorite tones
sounds like shit lol
3:41 tomorrow holds such better days :)
I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest, who'd have known?
I trace the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine, I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone
I never conquered, rarely came
Sixteen just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, we'd survived
I couldn't wait 'til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends
You'll never step foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time that I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault
I never conquered, rarely came
Sixteen just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone
I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I can't wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I've survived
I can't wait 'til I get home
To pass the time in my room alone
Great job dude big help for me, keep making more blink182 guitar tracks plz.

What I learned from this vids: All the tabs I used when I was a teen were wrong.
bass track of this one!
This sound so amazing bro
Thanks, Michael Howze. Great contribution. Cool name you got there.
Beautiful
incredible
Awesome!
makes me wonder what guitar model was used to record this
im pretty sure this is just a fender strat with invaders on it.
The clean parts are definitely a Strat or Tele.
ryyukk Tom never used his sig. strat in the studio.

when the song starts, are there two guitars playing? it sounds like there is one guitar playing the single note that is ringing out
awesome
This was the reason I bought the cd in 99 I played it loud every day loll I even had the booger snot taped on my big speakers loll
Thank U s2
1:15 rad
where did you float to on the web to find these?
these came from Rock Band
nice...
Riffs contain only a reverb effect?
How you do that?
How do you rip this stuff? :p
Audacity, Runs on Windows Xp and up, Mac, and Linux
And, do you use the original audio file? Or you manage to get all the tracks separately? :o
All the recorded instruments come in a packed zipped file
Cool! Thanks for the info:)
No problem 👌👍
Jesus loves you!
aliens
lol tom
how do you play
Always VIRAL get tabs
Jonfre123 tabs are always wrong
Listen and play by ear...it's easy enough
What effect is on the guitar in the verse?
Clean
+magicD_drummaguy sounds like there is a bit of a chorus or a flange
+BratonDoneyOfficial probably some chorus.. It does have a thick brighter clean sound
in the verse he is palm muting the chords
TheRealBratonDoney Boss CE-3? MXR? Maxon? Ibanez? Line 6 Space Chorus? Roland Jazz Chorus Amp?
Beautiful
