I remember thinking wow I can’t wait to see what they do to their other franchises. And then in the proceeding 7 years, I’m lucky if I turn my switch on once a year. So I get it. It’s a me problem and it’s my opinion, but I find Nintendo to be very lackluster and only interested in making the cheapest game possible so they get the highest possible profit margins .
I feel like part of the reason they're forcing the PSN mandate on PC ports is to either inflate PSN numbers, force PC players to buy a PS5 or to eventually charge PS+ to access multiplayer on PC

I would have been interested in Concord if it was a single player game like Star Wars jedi survivor. The sci fi setting is fun and I like characters with some attitude, but I don't care about multiplayer games. Still I hope it will have some success as a lot of people probably worked hard to create it.
The problem with Concord is there XDefiant, Valorant and Overwatch 2, The Finals etc already out. Now if Concord was a co op looter shooter like Borderlands THAT would have been epic!
Xdefiant will die in a month or so, Valorant is still popular but its more like CSGO, Overwatch is slowly dying, The Finals is already dead. There is room in the market, i know this isn't believable for many console gamers since a lot of them (and PC gamers) hate Overwatch and Valorant - they both have big casual audiences.
Concord is looks fine. Sony needs a exclusive shooter on it Platform. Xbox got COD, Halo, Overwatch, Doom, Gear of war, Perfect dark, Quake, Wolfenstein. So Let hope Concord is at least sustainable live service.
People didn't think highly of Helldivers 2 until it actually released, i wouldn't be writing anything off just yet. If Concord can nail the combat and progression, as well as introduce interesting new characters, it might do better than people think

Sony's screwed up their goodwill. Even before the "get used to not owning games" slip, alot of people were annoyed by how overpriced consoles in general and how few games especially the PS5 had to it's library, other than the few Sony exclusives. As for Helldivers2: you can't just point at a success and suddenly discount all of the string of failures, considering what just happened the last few months Helldivers2 and Stellar Blade are basically succeeding *in spite of Sony's best efforts* , not because of. Worse yet, in what seems to be the style as of late: they show no sign of actually learning from these mistakes going forwards. If they do it will be a pleasant surprise, but I'm not betting on it.
Sony is sooo wrong. Releasing all PlayStation exclusives on PC will not increase console sales, actually it will decrease it. To give you an example, I own a PlayStation 5 but I'll not buy a PlayStation 6 because of this decision. I'll get a nice Gaming PC instead since Exclusive games are not relevant anymore. Also, there is no need to pay subscription to simply PLAY ONLINE on PC
I’m not a liver service, hero shooter kind of gamer, but I thought Concord looked interesting. I tried Overwatch once and just got my ass kicked, it might be cool to get in on the ground floor with Concord. Idk, I’m holding out judgement until I play it. Definitely be trying the beta
They're absolute fools for thinking that releasing games just a few years later on PC will make PC players buy a PS5. They'd get more sales for each title, that's for sure, but they're not selling any more consoles because of that. If they care about PS5 sales, they should focus on making great exclusives that never touch another console in at least the first 5 years. That'd make a PS5 more valuable, if you can play PS games everywhere then buying a PS5 is a waste. They're shooting themselves in the foot.

I actually thought CONCORD seemed quite good. Nowaday people just label a product bad bc it is not what they expected ... the gameplay and loop just have to be fun and entertaining ...maybe it might be the next Fortnite or Apex Legend

Sony didn't ask for PC players to sign up for PlayStation Plus their subscription services but just to make a PlayStation account and Free 2 play games doesn't need PlayStation Plus to play online. So games like Fortnite, Warzone, and Overwatch you can play without PlayStation Plus on PlayStation but everyone on PlayStation needs an account.

I believe engagement is higher because for the most part most people that have a PS5 are the core audience. Not 100% of course but I would say the majority of PS5 owners are those that no matter what are getting next-gen when it comes out. I believe those people tend to play more.
Astro bit sounds brilliant, 80 plus levels is great to hear, sign me up day one. Concord however can get in the bin. I’ll never play that even if Sony paid me
I used to be a PC gamer primarily until I started my life as a working adult. PC hardware were getting more expensive and while I had a stable income, I have other responsibilities as well, and console makes more sense for me now. My hope is games will always be multi platform, so everyone have a choice.
The only games I was interested about from the state of play was behemoth and astro bot and yes I am pretty disappointed about astro bot not having a psvr2 mode and hopefully when psvr2 gets a pc release hopefully you can play half life Alex or hopefully it gets a ps5/psvr2 port, I don't understand why people think Sony has given up on vr.
Yea I just can't get excited for the PS2 backwards compatability when I'm expected to buy the games over again when I still have my original Sly Cooper PS2 disc. Over on Xbox if I want to play Tomb Raider Legend for example 1st of all I can play the Xbox 360 version not the original Xbox version but if I have already bought it digitally on any prior Xbox hardware then it's already available to download in my library and if I have a physical disc I can actually pop that in my Xbox Series X and play it. The fact Sony requires you to pay them again for the same classic games you already own is bullshit and then the fact that they wanr you to sign up for their most expensive tier of their subscription service just in order to get the handful of classic titles they trickle out to us is absolutely pathetic.
People losing their jobs in the gaming industry has been a foregone conclusion for a very long time now. Art teams in specific are dramatically larger than is sustainable. The art pipeline is also the biggest choke point in development and the primary culprit in these ridiculously long dev times. The reality for a long time has been to either shrink these teams or close up shop. It’s an ugly reality that has to be faced. AI is just the tool that enables that. That said, there will always be a human touch. There will still be human beings directing the AI, tweaking its output and using it as a tool to realize their vision. The only thing being cut out here is the time putting digital pencil to screen. People seem to be afraid that all games will start looking like procedurally generated slop and that’s just not the case. I applaud your outlook on this. It’s a tool and nothing but. The jobs that will be lost are primarily the ones that were already unsustainable. I know it sounds cold, but it’s the reality.
Glad to see Sly coming back! I would love it if the PS5 Pro added the option to pop your old gen discs into it and they just work. That would make me buy it day one. Love how the Xbox has it this gen. I bought lots of old gen Xbox games since I got XSX and only 2 current gen games for it. Great emulation device.

Soon as PS+ prices went up, i let my sub lapse and eventually sold my PS5. Don't miss it. I dont think there will be an exclusive game that'll make me come back for a long time, especially with the way they're handling their IP's

So it’s possible to get someone who plays on mobile to switch to your personal mobile device and in some cases get them into the ecosystem enough to get a home console. However. You can’t get anyone to switch from pc to console. Unless their pc dies and they can’t afford a new gaming rig.

Ever since i moved to PC, im hyper sensitive to anything below 60fps, and now prefer 100fps+ I want to play ff7 rebirth, loved the first, but 30fps is the reason i refuse to buy it. Further to that, Sony's first party output has been almost non exisrnt the last 2 years (and forseeable future)
I'm very curious to see how the whole PSVR2 on PC is going to play out so to speak. As I'm very curious about getting into VR, but I've read that quest 3 only holds a charge for about an hour and it would be insanely expensive to get a PS5 AND the PSVR2 in one go. A lot of people are already doing that. The thing is that people that can afford a high end PC can easily get a PS5 on discount if they really want to play a sequel.
The only highlights for me were Astrobot and Concord. No question regarding Astrobot, but Concord? Looks visually impressive and the mechanics seem fluid and tight. Not necessarily a fan of strictly PVP, but we’ll see how it fairs when released. It reminds me of Overstrike meets Destiny. Overstrike was an Insomniac game EA killed and turned into FUZE. Insomniac’s original vision was epic, needs to be revisited somehow. Look it up!

Already worked this generation, the ps4 was too slow for my liking but once my brother got a ps5 in 2021 I was surprised at how fast and responsive it was, faster than my pc build for sure, I know it’s not the same for everyone but for 500$ it’s kind of a steal compared to what you’d get for PC.

I swear people don't read. They were very clear. Tentpole titles like God of War and Spider-Man are not going day n date with PC. They are still in the business of selling consoles. We have already seen PC done nothing for Xbox. Can we stop being this dumb 🤦🏿♂️

I'm down to try out the beta for Concord. With a beta announcement I'd've thought more people would reserve judgement until we get to play the game. I will say though, I was quite confident in Helldivers 2 but I'm not feeling as confident in Concord. Also, interesting to note that Concord is a paid title (the store page mentions needing a PS+ sub for PS5 users). Astro Bot was for sure the star of the show and it's an instant day 1 for me! Infinity Nikki is 99% likely a gacha game, sadly. When the cinematic trailer debuted a couple months ago I thought it would be a single player exploration game but after looking into the game, I discovered it's apart of a larger gacha game franchise.
Might I add that this is the last year for ps4 so for everyone that doesn’t have a ps5 this is the right time to get one before they start dropping the triple a titles next year
I've owned every PS system since the original console, except for PS5. I'm not interested anymore in just getting hardware upgrades every 5-7 years with diminishing graphical returns, etc. We're in an age where everyone is building their digital game catalogs and I don't have confidence in the PlayStation infrastructure. You get 2 generations ahead and then the games you bought have patchy backwards compatibility. Surely we're at a time in gaming history where it's time to clean this situation up. You should be able to buy a game in digital form, have that as part of your PlayStation, or XBOX, or Steam library - wherever it is, and you should be able to reliably say 'I can play these games I have here without jumping through 50 hurdles for the next 10-20 years'. Instead we have the likes of Ubisoft delisting games that people paid full price for, without full or partial refunds. Likewise we have the issue with digital platforms like XBOX Game Pass where games get delisted To that extent, currently I only trust the Steam infrastructure on this because they have the proven track record over 20 years. So I'll play basically any and all games that Sony brings to Steam, but I'm not buying consoles anymore. They're passé.

Sony didn't ask for PC players to sign up for PlayStation Plus their subscription services but just to make a PlayStation account and Free 2 play games doesn't need PlayStation Plus to play online. So games like Fortnite, Warzone, and Overwatch you can play without PlayStation Plus on PlayStation but everyone on PlayStation needs an account.

I believe engagement is higher because for the most part most people that have a PS5 are the core audience. Not 100% of course but I would say the majority of PS5 owners are those that no matter what are getting next-gen when it comes out. I believe those people tend to play more.
Astro bit sounds brilliant, 80 plus levels is great to hear, sign me up day one. Concord however can get in the bin. I’ll never play that even if Sony paid me

I used to be a PC gamer primarily until I started my life as a working adult. PC hardware were getting more expensive and while I had a stable income, I have other responsibilities as well, and console makes more sense for me now.
My hope is games will always be multi platform, so everyone have a choice.
The only games I was interested about from the state of play was behemoth and astro bot and yes I am pretty disappointed about astro bot not having a psvr2 mode and hopefully when psvr2 gets a pc release hopefully you can play half life Alex or hopefully it gets a ps5/psvr2 port, I don't understand why people think Sony has given up on vr.
This may be a long shot but it is a PlayStation title, I hope they bring the Socom series into the service now that they have an emulator for ps2.
Yea I just can't get excited for the PS2 backwards compatability when I'm expected to buy the games over again when I still have my original Sly Cooper PS2 disc. Over on Xbox if I want to play Tomb Raider Legend for example 1st of all I can play the Xbox 360 version not the original Xbox version but if I have already bought it digitally on any prior Xbox hardware then it's already available to download in my library and if I have a physical disc I can actually pop that in my Xbox Series X and play it. The fact Sony requires you to pay them again for the same classic games you already own is bullshit and then the fact that they wanr you to sign up for their most expensive tier of their subscription service just in order to get the handful of classic titles they trickle out to us is absolutely pathetic.
I almost forgot to redeem the PS+ games this month, and If I had missed Tunic I'd be so sad. Thank you for the reminder!!!

People losing their jobs in the gaming industry has been a foregone conclusion for a very long time now. Art teams in specific are dramatically larger than is sustainable. The art pipeline is also the biggest choke point in development and the primary culprit in these ridiculously long dev times. The reality for a long time has been to either shrink these teams or close up shop. It’s an ugly reality that has to be faced. AI is just the tool that enables that.
That said, there will always be a human touch. There will still be human beings directing the AI, tweaking its output and using it as a tool to realize their vision. The only thing being cut out here is the time putting digital pencil to screen. People seem to be afraid that all games will start looking like procedurally generated slop and that’s just not the case.
I applaud your outlook on this. It’s a tool and nothing but. The jobs that will be lost are primarily the ones that were already unsustainable. I know it sounds cold, but it’s the reality.

The thing with Concord is all these other 'Hero Shooters' Overwatch, XDefiant, The Finals etc are all free. Concord, i'm sure it said "Pre-Order" suggesting it wont be free which imo would make it DOA. UNLESS... they give it away on PS Plus like Destruction All Stars

So it’s possible to get someone who plays on mobile to switch to your personal mobile device and in some cases get them into the ecosystem enough to get a home console. However. You can’t get anyone to switch from pc to console. Unless their pc dies and they can’t afford a new gaming rig.

I want to play ff7 rebirth, loved the first, but 30fps is the reason i refuse to buy it. Further to that, Sony's first party output has been almost non exisrnt the last 2 years (and forseeable future)
I'm very curious to see how the whole PSVR2 on PC is going to play out so to speak. As I'm very curious about getting into VR, but I've read that quest 3 only holds a charge for about an hour and it would be insanely expensive to get a PS5 AND the PSVR2 in one go. Anyone having experiences with both PSVR2 and quest 3?

the PSN requirement on PC ports is such a bad thing, sure I played both GoT and GoW:R on my PS4&5 but I want to play it on my PC and we can't even buy the game on our region/country.
Concord is a type of game you'd expect xbox to release and for it to bomb. I really don't get what these suits in Sony are thinking. Just bring back the Japanese already. West is slowly but surely ruining PlayStation. Literally nothing about that games says vision. It's just a recycled mesh. With nothing to offer. Vision non existent.

Already worked this generation, the ps4 was too slow for my liking but once my brother got a ps5 in 2021 I was surprised at how fast and responsive it was, faster than my pc build for sure, I know it’s not the same for everyone but for 500$ it’s kind of a steal compared to what you’d get for PC.

And another important aspect is that Sony has to give 30% of the sale price to Valve when they sell a game on Steam. When they sell those games on their own ecosystem, Sony keeps 100% of the revenue.

I'm down to try out the beta for Concord. With a beta announcement I'd've thought more people would reserve judgement until we get to play the game. I will say though, I was quite confident in Helldivers 2 but I'm not feeling as confident in Concord.
Also, interesting to note that Concord is a paid title (the store page mentions needing a PS+ sub for PS5 users).
Astro Bot was for sure the star of the show and it's an instant day 1 for me!
Infinity Nikki is 99% likely a gacha game, sadly. When the cinematic trailer debuted a couple months ago I thought it would be a single player exploration game but after looking into the game, I discovered it's apart of a larger gacha game franchise.
Silent Hill 2 looked like it's coming along nicely. people can keep hating on it. Im still getting it.

ASTROBOT was the only game worth anything at the terrible SOP.
I've owned every PS system since the original console, except for PS5. I'm not interested anymore in just getting hardware upgrades every 5-7 years with diminishing graphical returns, etc. We're in an age where everyone is building their digital game catalogs and I don't have confidence in the PlayStation infrastructure. You get 2 generations ahead and then the games you bought have patchy backwards compatibility. Surely we're at a time in gaming history where it's time to clean this situation up. You should be able to buy a game in digital form, have that as part of your PlayStation, or XBOX, or Steam library - wherever it is, and you should be able to reliably say 'I can play these games I have here without jumping through 50 hurdles for the next 10-20 years'. Instead we have the likes of Ubisoft delisting games that people paid full price for, without full or partial refunds.
Likewise we have the issue with digital platforms like XBOX Game Pass where games get delisted
To that extent, currently I only trust the Steam infrastructure on this because they have the proven track record over 20 years. So I'll play basically any and all games that Sony brings to Steam, but I'm not buying consoles anymore. They're passé.
