    Many believe just graduating from medical school is a ticket to becoming rich. Good doctors deserve to be compensated, I'm sure there's an element of grit & grind, those school loans don't just pay themselves off.

    My mom is a midwife and I hear all about these problems from her doctor friends, but I still want to go into medicine. There are, however, a lot of premeds who seem to have an unrealistic view of politics in the hospital and what it's really like. Not to mention the premeds who don't respect the whole healthcare team, or only take up clinical roles that don't involve the messy side of caring for people.

    Love your honesty Dr. Webb. As a former ER nurse, the hospitals don't care about RNs. MDs can do whatever they want, but nurses do one thing wrong, and we lose our license.

      I think MDs feel similarly. Everyone feels marginalized in healthcare and there aren't any lobbying forces watching out for you or the docs out there. I hope things go well/get better for you!

    Hi Doctor Web do you still offer coaching sessions for new students?... If not have you thought of making and selling a guidance package for new students and residents that need advice on dealing with the financial side of starting and running a practice?

      @LegacyLewis-gt8ru Yes! I honestly hope Doctor Webb takes advantage of my comment because this seems to be such an untapped resource! Medical schools, how to become a doctor RUclips channels, how to become a doctor's books, medical school study courses, etc. Almost every resource out there only focuses on the academic side of medicine, but NO ONE is talking about everything outside of passing the MCAT, passing Med-School, and surviving residency except for Doctor Web!
      Many of us don't know of the steps forwhat to do to start a practice or how to find staff to hire, and how to get money to pay that staff (because most likely we already have large student loans we're repaying); and his video about the cost of maintaining a practice and his monthly overhead amount almost made my eyes pop out! I've ONLY heard Doctor Webb speak of the lack of money you make when you're starting out as a doctor. Everyone just assumes doctors make great money when they graduate, so many don't control their spending or make a budgeting plan for the first few years they start working.
      That's why I think if he made a "How to" guide, it would help so many people, and it would be very profitable.

    They don’t teach you personality & humility to help others, that comes from within!
    Grades are not everything, your patients don’t care how much you know rather how you make them feel.

    Don't recommend healthcare for anyone, because as Dr. Webb has said, it's now about lining the pockets of hospital CEOs and higher ups and not about the safety and wellbeing of patients and staff!!

      Two things can be true. Nobody is spending all that time and money not to earn a well paying salary.

    • @karma1507
      @karma1507 4 месяца назад

      @@lol0609The reason why most doctors say you shouldn't get into medicine for the money is the pay isn't as good as most people think. They have to pay off student loans from both college and medical school in addition to having medical malpractice insurance and taxes to pay every year. What's more is since it takes such a long time to become a physician, you don't start making money until later in life compared to if you picked a different career. Doctors have higher salaries than most other professions but that's basically gross profit and not net profit.

      Look at r/medicalschool. As an IMG, you’re already going to have a hard time. Preclinical grades don’t matter that much. Your clinical grades do tho. Just honor as many rotations as you can. Push out LOTS of research. And score high on usmle step 2. I don’t know what specialty you’re expecting for, but I will brutally honest, if you’re shooting for ortho I would highly suggest choosing something different. The odds are insanely against you already. All the same, continue to try and work for this. I believe in you!
