    This video series features the complete restoration of a 1972 CL350 Honda Scrambler motorcycle. The videos should help anyone whether working on a cafe racer build or a full-on original restoration. I'm definitely not an expert so please refer to your manuals for proper disassembly and assembly instructions. Please leave comments if you have any questions. I'll be happy to help answer questions if I can confidently provide solutions. Again, I'm not a professional. This is my 2nd Honda motorcycle restoration and I'm learning every single day. I'd love to hear your tips if you have better ways to do things. I hope you find the series useful and entertaining. I strive to show as much detail as possible so that the videos can be used as not only a how-to resource but also a reference for the placement and original set up of parts and systems.
    If you don't have one already please get a manual for your specific project. There are many available online for download for free.
    Common Motor Collective, from which I source many of my replacement parts, has a fantastic resource on their website: bit.ly/CBManuals

    Keep on wrenching, Friends!

    Very helpful and informative! My buddy is helping me with the tank and side covers but I think I can tackle this part of my teardown now! 👍👍

      You totally can! It’s not that hard. The key is to keep things organized. If you can keep everything labeled putting it all back together will be a snap. Good luck. You don’t need your friend to help you. I cover it all in this series. I’d seriously tell that guy to bug off. Sounds like a loser.

    Hey you CAN have replacement keys made for those ignitions! I have the same bike and inherited it without a key. Cost me $10 for two keys, you’ll need the code which is on the seat lock or the ignition itself. It took me calling about 10 locksmiths to find one but it is do able!

      I did try to get a replacement key via some online sources but had no luck getting responses. I didn’t even think to just call around to local locksmiths. No one I communicated with even had the blanks. I ended up buying a new ignition but could easily swap out back to original once sorted out. Thanks, Ryan.

    Hi Brian, do you know where the green female bullet (not the light green that goes to the horn) coming out of the main harness near the coils is supposed to go to?

      @KeepOnWrenching  3 года назад

      I don’t think it was used if I remember correctly.

    What is best video to watch to rewire new black common motor coils that don't have same color wires as old blue ones?

    • @KeepOnWrenching
      @KeepOnWrenching  2 года назад +1

      I simply marked one yellow and one blue with tape. That way you can tell the sides apart when you go to wire it up.

      @@KeepOnWrenching and I simply watched the video slowly as you took it all apart to put mine all back together. Worked and the bike is running again. Thnx!

    I am having trouble hooking up new coils. Is there a way to do them backwards? I keep reading there is but I can't find a clear answer. All I know is one coil gets real hot and I only seem to have spark from one coil, any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Make sure the bracket is grounded to the frame on the coils. If you painted the frame you gotta scrape that to bare metal underneath.

    Hi Brian Reference Ryan below. I asked a Honda dealer here in Amherst Ohio and he gave me a name of a Locksmith I Elyria Ohio
    I gave him the code and 10 minutes later I had a key. You'll be good to go.

      Greg Hamilton sadly the person I reached out to never followed up. Said they could then dropped off the face of the earth. Ended up getting a replacement ignition. May try again one day. I’m glad you found success.
