A work buddy came into the shop one day excited that he had just ordered an "awesome" pair of new boots. When I asked him what kind, he said it was a new, up and coming brand that I probably hadn't heard of, and he couldn't remember the name anyway. In my head, I remember thinking - I sure hope they aren't Brunts or Portlands... A week later, homeboy comes in in shiny new Brunts. I didn't say anything because he's a nice guy and seemed stoked on his new kicks. Maybe all the trusted and negative reviews I had seen were overkill... Sure enough, in about three weeks, the poor guy's boots started falling apart. Pretty bad too. It was as if one thing held them together, and that one key piece had broken. Anyway, it made his day hell and he had to go to the local farm and feed after work and buy some Thourogoods off the shelf. This was about a year or so ago, give or take. His Thourogoods are holding up just fine...
I work in construction and I’m a firm believer in thorogood boots. I always have guys ask me about them and end up buying these brunt’s only to have them fall apart in a month or 2. It’s nothing for me to get 1 or 2 years out of thorogoods and the comfort never declines
Amen, I work in a glass shop where I'm on my feet all day on hard concrete and after several shoes I finally pulled the trigger on some thorogoods, man oh man the best decision I ever made. So comfortable, even pain I had in my left hip and knee has gone away since wearing these 👌🏼
Thorogood is the best boots on the market followed closely by redwings. I wear both brands just depends on where I’m at when it time for a new lie of boots and what I can find in a store because I refuse to order my work boots online
At an arborcare company, we had half the guys buy the same model of brunt type workbooks. Non US made, cheap. The only pair left is hanging in a tree. A guy bought US made Thorogood mock toes and another guy bought Nicks. 2 years later, both are still going.
@@guyfawkesuThe1 this reminds me of when I worked at chrysler. And NOONE, owned any of the vehicles we sold from the lot. Only hondas, Subaru, or Toyotas.
This reminds me of where I work. I work in a warehouse, and seeing everyone either wear tennis shoes, hokkas, or cemented work boots. (anything under 120$) I'm the only one who wears Thorogoods. The only other boot brand I've seen are from the mechanics who wear georgia boots. And some people who wear romeos. Even when I told people the benefits of owning a wedge sole boot. They literally still go out and buy the same shoe, or buy hokas.
I am on my 4th year wearing my Georgia boots, great boots and perfectly happy with them. I've seen these and others in the price range, and that sketchy advertising (I actually had just watched another popular boot reviewer comment on the same kind of advertising on another brand, (funny how the lower tiers are coming out to make a buck) before watching this one) the worst pair of work boots I ever had were a pair of Wolverines that the stitching, practically all of it, broke within 6 months. I resewed them and they lasted about a year. Great video, love your content and I am sure the owners of Brunt all wear loafers 😀
Well mine are year and half old, i dont wear loafers either. Im heavy equipment operator, and own landscaping business. Been most comfortable boot ive ever owned. Only complaint is leather at steel toe is thin. And they been in all sorts of bad weather, rough conditions, and not pampered
I screwed up and bought the Brunt Marin about a year ago. They lasted about 4 to 5 months and they were WORE OUT. This review is spot on. They felt great for about 45 days with no break in period and then your foot felt like it was standing on the floor itself. I would recommend spending a hundred bucks more and get a boot that will last several years. You will have to break them in but they will form to your foot and last.
Jesus thank god for this comment … literally had my cart ready to go on my other web page … I ran with thorogoods for a while and wanted to maybe switch up … anybody have any recommendations or should I just stick to what I know ?
When i got my nicks 2 years ago, my wife being concerned with the price tried to convince me to buy a pair of these. Thank goodness i was able to convince her that it was a terrible idea.
@@Keepgoing9919 from what I read she didn't 'dictate' but aimed at discussing it since it's probably THEIR money he's spending and Nick's cost 4-5x the Brunts
These guys delete comments and reviews as well. The company is more trash than the boots. I had a debate with one of my technicians a bit ago about these boots. He was 2 weeks into them claiming how comfortable they were. 2 months later he was wearing Thorogoods. 😂
Im a new subscriber. This is the absolute best channel for getting TRUTH on work wear. If you are on the fence about a product you are eyeballing, just come here and let Carl give you the facts. You will not be disappointed
Great video, again. I like getting real, honest reviews from real blue collar workers. I know you have done plenty of recommendation videos for work boots. Can you do one for mechanics? What did you use when you were working with solvents, oils and on the concrete all day that lasts longer than a year? Keep up the good work
You described my experience with Brunt down to a T. I purchased a set of Ryng low comp toes, and they were, by a fair margin, the worst boots I've purchased. The plastic eyes broke within a week, they were uncomfortable, and began tearing the stitching after a few weeks of use. I got a pair of Red Wing 2406's after that, and a year and a half later they're still holding up
I've worn 2406s for years....usually get a year or a year and a half out of them.....last pair would not break in....decided to try the ryngs. Out of the box, they were awesome....6 months later they are falling apart....really disappointing. I'm a finish carpenter. I'm not nearly as hard on boots as a lot of tradesmen. Back to the 2406s I go...
I bought a Marin a few years ago. They were pretty comfortable at first. After about a month, the sole really started breaking down. I don't think the boots lasted 3 months.
I remember I use to follow this contractor on IG and really liked brunt. I was looking to upgrade my boots so I was going to purchase these. Literally about to pay and thankfully got distracted. Later that night saw a video from rose anvil about the new whites moc toes. Bit the bullet and dropped $365 for boots. Kind of regretted it but also excited and curious? That was 3 years ago. Still wearing them, resoled once, and still the most comfortable anything I’ve ever worn on my feet. Can stand all day and walk all day, no pain. And still in great shape. Will be retiring them soon.
I’ve had a pair for three years, but I only use them around the house and in the woods. They are sufficiently comfortable, quality was questionable though. After less than a year, the boot started to split (the sole from the boot), which allowed water to get in very easily. I still use them for a pair of junk boots, but when it came time to buy a new pair, I went with Danner.
Finally a real review on these boots. I sell work boots and western boots for a living and get questions all the time about this brand. Now I can give a true response and answer to them. Much appreciated.
Good stuff Carl! If you're looking for a topic, you seem like the right person to further review the term "Made in USA" and what that means. There are a handful that REALLY do it and most that do some version of it and get away with it. If you're interested in a further discussion lmk it would be great to chat. Another topic would be WATERPROOF and expectation vs reality and at different price points.
Wow man, thank you!! I did a video years ago about what the requirements are to include "Made in USA" on a label and it was very eye-opening. I remember there being a document which outlines all the specifics for a product which is made in the USA, and some textiles were exempt. Awesome recommendations my friend. Thank you!
This isn't specific to this boot brand or even the video, but this type of honest evaluation and 'level playing field' is exactly why I subscribed to your channel, Carl. I appreciate your efforts and also, very importantly, your integrity shown in your reviews. I'm a firm believer of what I would consider your "buy once, cry once" philosophy. I also buy USA made as much as I can- especially when it comes to footwear. Thank you for your time and effort!!!
Carl, great video on these brands that spam and market down your throat to make a buck! As an electrician, and a electrical teacher at the IEC, Ive seen countless apprentices walk in with a new pair of brunt's, and about a month later, they're trashed! I always tell them to just save a few pay checks, and invest into your footwear! It's a night and day difference in being able to work hard in good pair of boots, compared to trash like Brunt! Great stuff Carl!
I absolutely can't stand that brand!! I'm glad to see someone roasting them. After years of seeing their annoying ads, there are 2 things that bug me the most: 1) Anytime someone comments on their ads asking about country of origin, they give the same generic response about how they could only find manufacturers in China to make those boots to their comfort and quality specifications. Like a garbage throw-away cemented boot is so rare and only special Chinese factories could meet those rigorous standards. 2) They claim to cut out the middle man and pass the savings onto the customer. Except the prices aren't even good for how low quality their stuff is. I think they use the extra profit on all their annoying ad campaigns and fake reviews.
The intro was great and you made so many good points that encapsulate the core values of your channel very well. Which is why many of us watch I think, there's just not enough good work wear and quality mans clothing reviews out there. I recently have been shopping for new boots after my favorite redwing CRV's which are no longer produced have reached the end of a good 4 year run of real work 40hrs a week on jobsites as a commercial electrician. The critical aspect for me aside from durability and quality is some toe room I can't have my toes feel like they're in a cast and so so many boots seem to overlook this anatomical feature, one of the only reasons I didn't go ahead and spend on a PNW boot, I was scared my forefoot would suffer, thus landing me on trying out some of the higher end Keens for the first time. Look forward to seeing future video reviews from you on various models and brands of major work boots.
I contacted them because I was looking for a cheap pair of boots to destroy around my yard, and needed sizing information. They could not give me CM or JP sizing and kept telling me that they don't sell in Europe or Asia. CM or JP sizing is based on actual measurements and after a week and a half of going back and forth I gave up. They just kept saying that they fit true to size. But the US vs EU sizing didn't match up as they normally do with other brands. If they can't answer sizing information then they don't deserve my money.
@@tstewardson yes CM is centimeters and JP is Japan. JP is also centimeters. They are both the same thing. There is also Mondo sizing sometimes which is Millimeters. Those 3 are the only sizing that uses actual measurements. To properly measure your feet, place a piece of paper against a wall. Stand on the paper with one foot and your heal against the wall. Trace your foot with a pen/pencil. Repeat for the other foot. Then measure the length of your outline from heal to the top of the big toe in CM/MM with a metric measuring tape.
And do you know of any direct correlations to the industry standards for each measurement? Meaning , are all size 9's a certain measurement?@@joe_ferreira
@@tstewardson each company from last to last the sizing doesn't compare to brannock sizing. So the issue is not specific to one company vs another but also exists within the same shoes/boots if they have different lasts also. This is not specific to boots but applies to all footwear. I first learned this trying to find inline skates that fit properly many years ago.
@@CarlMurawski your welcome. keep the channel going reviews of workwear by tradesmen like you who actually works and will give no BS reviews is really helpful
Thanks for your honest review. I totally agree about reviews that are bought and payed for. It’s rather infuriating that the internet is full of BS review blogs and top ten list with Amazon links and a million ads for dumb products, written by someone who has never even held those products in their hands. Honest reviews of products are harder and harder to find.
Carl I remember when you started your channel. You have come a long way since then. I also remember occasionally watching and thinking [even commenting] "you're crazy ... spending $$$ on ....?... ! Why ? Who ? You can get it cheaper.....". Then I listened more and your presentation format changed some.. and YOU MADE SENSE !! You get what you pay for lol how novel lol. But honestly you always focused on looking for the best product and then some good options. That meant you didn't have to break the bank to get good quality products. You have options based on your needs and the price point. Yet, you don't sink into the cheap garbage. I really appreciate that. I know that when I see a review from you. You are going to be honest and that is important. Plus you provide those options. I can spend the big bucks and get the absolute best. Or I can spend a little less and get a very comparable product. Because I don't need the top of the line version so I save a few dollars. But I am not going to completely compromise the quality standard. Keep up the great work your doing. The information is great and it is very informative.
Can you do a Keen work boots video? i'm just starting off as an electrical apprentice. any good tips // idea for realtively cheap work boots that will last a while would be greatly appreciated.
Oh I’ve got adds from Brunt. Mine were for slip on shoes. Given the quality of the adds I’m impressed that they actually sent you boots. That alone exceeds my expectations.
I have a pair of thorogood moc toes that are on their third set of soles and prob almost 6 yrs old. If that doesn’t say quality I don’t know what does. I wear them out and they replace the soles for half the price of a new pair and they come looking almost brand new. I run transport and work on heavy machinery among other things too
I am SO glad someone called out True Classic tees. They hardcore advertise themselves as something they aren't all the time. And what they claim to be, Bayside actually is, does it cheaper and has better quality
The worst thing that ever happened for workwear was having it become fashionable. These seem like a great example of a casual fashion boot masquerading as a work boot. For me, if I can't get at least 4 years out of a construction boot I feel cheated.
@@shaunlehman9158hahaha you got it right I don't know what he is but I'm an HVAC technician and my boots timberlands always last me 4-5 years. Got the brunt Marin's and 9 months later the insides all torn up on both boots and they're no longer water proof. Make sense though an iron workers boots go through hell compared to plumbers, electricians and hvac guys
I will never buy another pair of work boots not made by Nicks. The quality, the customer service -- amazing. I burned through dozens of pairs of $200.00 boots before stepping up to a PNW boot. Never looking back.
This is the video I needed to see! Been wearing Red Wings for 10 years now, and need a new pair now. Been thinking of ordering a pair of Brunt Marin boots to see if they live up to the hype but something keeps telling me to stick to Red Wings. Definitely gona be sticking to my Red Wings, maybe a pair of Irish setters this time.
My shop is pretty close to the brunt home base. We have about 100 guys so they had our company go over to brunt and gave us like 70% off or something like that maybe even some free stuff. This was three years ago when they were much newer trying to get the name out. I asked my manager why he wasn't wearing his, he said he preferred his 3 year old redwings over them lol...I ended up going and getting myself a pair of the black Marin's because they looked sharp and I kept seeing the ads and some guys at work said they were good boots. At first they were comfortable and waterproof but after 9 months the insides are tearing apart on both boots and after a few months they were no longer water proof. They are really warm though I'll give them that but I also wear thick socks in the winter. Switched to sketchers for the summer though I fix AC units all summer so I need light weight boots for now but I'll probably try redwings when the fall comes. Never worn anything other than timberland pros.
I get ya red flag first was were almost out of stock. I called them out, but never a definitive answer. So I declined the purchase. Luv ur good reviews.
I just got a pair and second day in my toes are rubbing the comp toe wich isn’t back far enough to begin with. I’m in industrial maintenance and walk over 10k steps and this boot is going back for a refund.
Eric, the founder of Brunt’s, is not a blue collar worker as he claims. He claims he started this business in his garage because of all his blue collar buddies just wanted a great boot at a cheap cost. He’s an entrepreneur mogul that has started many business and here he just prays on the hearts and minds of the hard workers in the trades with his fake reviews and down your throat marketing. All to make his pockets fat while providing Chinese crap. There are plenty of other Chinese boots that will out perform these such as Rock Rooster for cheaper. I’m glad you finally made this video. Wish you would have made it a year ago though. More people need to see what crap these are and not waste their money.
I got a pair of the black Marin's They stopped being waterproof after a couple months, and this inside of both boots started tearing apart. I got mine at their factory here in Massachusetts so I got a discount. I only paid $106. I guess I got my money worth but I think it's funny when I see guys talk about how great they are and how they get a new pair every year I'm like yeah if they're good, why are you getting a new pair every year lol
I honestly wanted to love these...but I always get unexplainable knee pain after a few hours when I wear them. I've never had knee pain before. Comfortable enough when moving, but I feel like the fatigue set in for me when just standing.
So I got my my 6" Brunt Toe Marins last year in July or August of 2023. I was running a scooter & bike logistics company and put a ton of sidewalk and pavement walking into these boots. I use the upper foot of the boot to lift and spin around rentable electric scooters. The boots held up ok until maybe 2 or three weeks ago when I used the rear leather loop to pull the boots onto my feet and the stitching ripped and caused one of the leather pull straps to peel from the back of the boot. I also notice a wear pattern on the rear sole of the boot but that is to be expected. I've done a few tree jobs with the boots over the last month or so and they are taking a beating now. Honestly the most comfortable boots I've ever worn but I'm really put off with the fact that the leather pull on eyelette tore from the back of the boot. Then I see this review and kind of shake my head in agreement. I'll probably try the new Brunt welted and the black brunt before I completely call it quits with them based on how good my knees and little fatigue I get while wearing them but long term, I may look into something else. I appreciate the video here.
I was just in a Redwing store buying a couple pairs of new boots. A guy came in with thorogoods, worn out soles after 8 months in construction. At the same time another construction worker came in to have his Redwings resoled. 2 years on those soles, and having them redone. the leather was beaten , but in great shape. Redwings al the way.
Irish setter boots go for around the same price and have a Goodyear welt sole, thicker leather and are a proven brand. Made in Vietnam so that can be a con for some.
I’m a 30 year machinist from Washington state and started in the 90’s with Wolverine, went to Georgia than Thorogood and Redwing. Finally in my late 40’s ponied up to Whites first and recently Frank’s. The durability and craftsmanship is so far ahead of any of them. I don’t miss spending $200 plus a year on disposable boots.
I’ve been a machinist for about 25 years. I wore redwing almost exclusively until I ended up with a pair of wolverines because of a time crunch needing steel toe for a new job. They’re holding up better than I expected but after two years, I just sent in fit sheets for a pair of Frank’s. I’m probably 6 months away from receiving them but I’m excited and don’t mind the wait.
@@johnnyb6067 they’ll be worth it brother, my Frank’s are the inexpensive Patriot model which I kind knew my size but since I am a 3 1/2 drive I’ll be headed there soon for a proper fitting. I’m going to get a pair of 4” boots for weekends. After that I’m thinking of getting a pair of T1 Commander’s, 8” and full custom with toe caps and pull holes. What model did you order??
I was happy to hear you mention Keens as a good quality affordable brand for work boots. Have you reviewed Keens work boots yet? Of course, they're not on the same level of quality as brands like Nick's or White's, but they are good, IMHO.
Honestly, was thinking about buying a pair. Liked the look and fell for the ads, i guess. Glad i saw this video. I cant afford some of the brands Carl reps, like Filson and the hand made boots, but i have a lot of carhartt and most of their stuff is worth the money. As for boots, my go to boots for a mix of work and casual are the standard Timberland Pros. Can find them at outlets for about $100 and theyre comfy and pretty durable IMO. I know there are better boots out there, but $100 every 2 years works for me
I bought the Brunt Marin soft toe’s because I had the Keen Red Hooks and after a year maybe I wanted a more traditional boot look (moc toe). Saw these all over instagram. The composite toe I first got I immediately sent back cause they were stiff as hell. The soft toe would be fine if the sole / outsole was softer. They suck. Stiff and no real give for a wedge sole. The boot itself if comfortable because I got the lined ones (although they don’t breathe well). I wouldn’t get them again.
If you like the look of this boot the keen san jose looks pretty similar and they lasted me about a year, which is a pretty decent amount of time with my job. For comparison the pair before was Georgias and they lasted close to the same. Only complaint about the keens is they dont offer a insulated version and the stitching on the front broke.
I'm so glad you mentioned true classic. One, I kinda thought the thin stretchy muscle fit tees went out of style like years ago, lol. Two, I've seen a lot of reddit posts about how the fit is inconsistent, they shrink, and are overpriced
I've had a pair of Keens for a month now, and they're killing it. Holding up great to aggressive treatment. If you're on a budget, Carolina and Keen are brands I can say from experience hold up great.
A young journeyman on the job bought these and was surprised when I told him they were made in China. They fell apart in a month and they gave him a new pair but pretty much the same result. I told him I’ve been wearing redwings for 30 years and he should give them a shot
I'm a mechanic, my coworker bought some of these and returned them pretty quickly- said they were very uncomfortable. The fake welt is lame. At this price point I'd probably get Wolverines
The only thing I really liked about my Brunt boots was the 30 day try on/return window because I returned them ASAP. I work on wet surfaces and the Brunt boots felt like I was skating on ice.
What do you think about Duluth Trading work wear? I was a Carhartt guy forever but finally tried Duluth after listening to my nephew go on and on about their underwear. Now I'm not in the construction trades I'm a Tool and Die Maker but I do weekend jobs. I have three pairs of jeans and seven pairs of pocket tees from Duluth that are over three years old now. They are 100% hands down the best and most comfortable clothes I have ever worn. You should do a review one them and no I'm not "sponsored" by them.
Recent convert to Jim green myself. Will probably get their steel toe razorbacks and add an external met guard unless I can get my painmaster rockports to finally loosen up
It took me about 2 months to figure out that these boots were the reason my calf was cramping up. So past the 30 day return mark. I left a review of them that they deleted. And gave them to my son. I have JKs now
So while I understand it may be a waste of money. They just released a welted boot and I would.love your take on them. Would be nice to see if they are improving or just more nonsense
I have a pair of the Distasio's I am still getting blisters from them almost 2 months later and just found out that they are not waterproof. Not happy.
I just got promoted to being the head handy man in the condo building I work in. it wouldn't require too much walking and heavy lifting. Do you think these would still be suitable as I think they wouldn't be under heavy work load?
Just got a pair, i do cell tower/rooftop cell site work so either im gunna be in a JLG lift basket, climbing towers or walking on commercial roofs Hoping they hold up
With them having a next gen version of their boots I'm curious to see what they've changed.. that said I'm stuck on thorogood and the only change I'd make boot wise is going to a PNW boot brand
I had a pair of slip on work boots from brunt and the fabric in the heal had been ripped on day31 and would dig into my heal. It also made it very difficult to take off. I was one day out of warranty and the boots were unwearable.
Sounds a lot like Keens. So comfy in the beginning but it only lasted a couple of weeks. I'd spent so much I kept wearing them and my feet hurt. The last straw was walking across a freshly rained on parking lot and my socks were wet.
I got some of these about 2 months ago. About a month of wearing them for work in a warehouse and a one hour pit bike and i had to gorilla the soles back on. They were comfy though
I worked manual labor in parks (lots of mud, snow, gravel, brush) till I moved a few months ago. I have a pair of Red Wong Dynaforces that got 1/2 a year of rotated use and 1 year of full use. They’re still going strong and I brought them with me for when I have to do work outside so they’ll last me many years, especially since I don’t work outside anymore. I have no need for something like Brunt’s but thank you for letting others know to look elsewhere.
I could tell they sucked the moment you opened the box?! I recently purchased the KEEN CINCINNATI 8” and love it!! I’m a Painter by trade and the Cincinnati is comfy to be on your feet all day!!!
I saw these on my Facebook feed and just looking at them, they look sus (as the kids say today). I have a pair of 300Xs and White's Perry Select on order so unless I wanted to pull a Rose Anvil and cut them in half..haha.
That’s funny, I have a pair of Perry Selects on order too, and came very close to ordering a pair of the JK 300x (instead went with the Whites Fulton).
Couldn't agree more. I write tool and workwear reviews as well, and Brunt sent me a pair for free. I told the rep they were uncomfortable and bulky (and ugly), and they asked what I was used to (Thorogoods). They offered to send me another pair that were more in line with my taste, but I wasn't interested. Fast-forward to a few weeks ago when I finally wore them on a roofing project, and they didn't make it through a single day without the lace ripping completely off of one boot. Laces are replaceable, yes, but c'mon. I know why they're so popular, but it's just shilling.
I'll also add that you guys found the leather to be thin. My Marin's were the insulated version, and they were extremely stiff. The pressure on the front of my shin was unreal. Just my $0.02.
I just bought a pair that will be here Friday.... I don't do construction though, I do warehouse maintenance. Working on conveyors and sorting machines, all in doors, they may have a better time in that environment.
I happened to buy a pair of the Brunt’s. And definitely didn’t like them. Then got a nice pair of Keen moc toe boots and they lasted almost a year. Now I went with RedWing and love them. The End.. Merry Christmas!
I bought a pair after a recommendation of a coworker working assembly/ industrial Painting. I will say they were comfortable. But they lasted about 3-6 months on just concrete. The the comp toes were ripped through the leather. The inside of the heel lining ripped. The soles especially the heels went fast. This is on smooth concrete floors too the amount of lacquer thinner i have to use probably didn't help. The next pair of boots i got a $50 pair of Angry Rams from Amazon have lasted longer.
Thank you for making this review, I was able to make a good decision on a work jacket based off one of your other videos and appreciate it very much. These boots were almost next for me but I am going to steer away from that.
Great video, and perfect timing! Brunt just popped up in my feeds recently, and they looked promising. Just goes to show, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
I need to find a review on the work boot with the best softest but not so soft it only lasts 6 months wedge sole in a moc toe. Maybe Thorogoods. I haven’t tried Whites or Perry’s and never heard of them before channels like this one and Rose Anvil
The Rockrooster wedge boots that have the real vibram Christie soles are really Good for the price. I think they are called the norwoods. Have had them for a while now, and they’ve been great.
Best video on the internet! These brands and their campaigns are beyond shady. They are dishonest. Brunt, if your care about the America worker how about make your boots in the USA.
If you work construction, welding, or anything blue collar, just the sound in a boot tells you the quality. My wife almost bought me these boots and I almost slapped her.

@@ShouUFu stick with what you know brother.
When i got my nicks 2 years ago, my wife being concerned with the price tried to convince me to buy a pair of these. Thank goodness i was able to convince her that it was a terrible idea.

Thank you so much dude!!!
Great video, again. I like getting real, honest reviews from real blue collar workers. I know you have done plenty of recommendation videos for work boots. Can you do one for mechanics? What did you use when you were working with solvents, oils and on the concrete all day that lasts longer than a year? Keep up the good work
For sure man! I have a mechanic buddy of mine doing some testing right now.
I was a tech for 20 years and got out of the business 1.5 years ago. I found Thorogoods to be the best bang for the buck.
My favorite thing is when I see their add comparing the sole of their boots to the “off brand” read the room Brunt you are the off brand.
Same here. That guy on the ad sure is proud to have his name on that crappy chinese boot, though...haha.
Will be retiring them soon.
lol smh brunt is the best and half the price
@@thegreatestmantoevrwlkthep9986weird troll.
The best cheap boots are the Irish Setter Ashby. Same price range as Brunt, wayyyy better cheap boot
After years of seeing their annoying ads, there are 2 things that bug me the most:
1) Anytime someone comments on their ads asking about country of origin, they give the same generic response about how they could only find manufacturers in China to make those boots to their comfort and quality specifications.
What is JP sizing? Assuming cm in centimeters?
I totally agree about reviews that are bought and payed for.
It’s rather infuriating that the internet is full of BS review blogs and top ten list with Amazon links and a million ads for dumb products, written by someone who has never even held those products in their hands.
Honest reviews of products are harder and harder to find.
My Ariats lasted 9 months before I had exposed toe caps and I'm really loving my Irish setters mesabi, but I would love to see your thoughts on them
I got a pair 9 months ago and the sole is gone already, my Dr. Marten Chelsea Industrial lasted about 3 years, each pair.

I remember when you started your channel.
Thank you! I’ve certainly learned a lot in these last years.
I can say that buying these marins got me really into boots. I realized how terrible they were and started getting into real heritage style boots

I’ve been waiting for this beat down lol
If you like the look of this boot the keen san jose looks pretty similar and they lasted me about a year, which is a pretty decent amount of time with my job. For comparison the pair before was Georgias and they lasted close to the same. Only complaint about the keens is they dont offer a insulated version and the stitching on the front broke.
I'm so glad you mentioned true classic. One, I kinda thought the thin stretchy muscle fit tees went out of style like years ago, lol. Two, I've seen a lot of reddit posts about how the fit is inconsistent, they shrink, and are overpriced
Thank you for this honest review. I definitely will be looking elsewhere to buy a work boot.
Glad it was helpful!

I've had a pair of Keens for a month now, and they're killing it. Holding up great to aggressive treatment. If you're on a budget, Carolina and Keen are brands I can say from experience hold up great.
Keen offers a year warranty also against defects but I ran keens and brunt’s also danner, all have been good to me in the construction industry
I agree with you about Keens being good quality boots at a good price. Plus, Keens have good foot support and a wide toe box.
A young journeyman on the job bought these and was surprised when I told him they were made in China. They fell apart in a month and they gave him a new pair but pretty much the same result. I told him I’ve been wearing redwings for 30 years and he should give them a shot

Nice Carl. Nailed it. Buy better, buy less. And for Crissakes be comfortable.
I'm a mechanic, my coworker bought some of these and returned them pretty quickly- said they were very uncomfortable. The fake welt is lame.
At this price point I'd probably get Wolverines
Harsh words, but sometimes the truth hurts.. I’m sticking to my red wings! Keep it up Carl! 👍
The only thing I really liked about my Brunt boots was the 30 day try on/return window because I returned them ASAP. I work on wet surfaces and the Brunt boots felt like I was skating on ice.
I kept seeing these and almost debated getting these, something just didn’t feel right though so I never went through with it
What do you think about Duluth Trading work wear? I was a Carhartt guy forever but finally tried Duluth after listening to my nephew go on and on about their underwear. Now I'm not in the construction trades I'm a Tool and Die Maker but I do weekend jobs. I have three pairs of jeans and seven pairs of pocket tees from Duluth that are over three years old now. They are 100% hands down the best and most comfortable clothes I have ever worn. You should do a review one them and no I'm not "sponsored" by them.

It took me about 2 months to figure out that these boots were the reason my calf was cramping up. So past the 30 day return mark. I left a review of them that they deleted. And gave them to my son. I have JKs now
What about Duradero. I get spammed by then as well comparing to thorogood and offering a free resole!? I'd love to see if their worth it

When was the last time you reviewed the Origin boots? They now have a vibram sole.
Red wings are junk. Give them out free to department of transportation every year. They have to because they fall apart before a year every time!
Tom, thank you for the valuable feedback echoing my own experience. I think I may have read some of your work on Bob Villa? Maybe I'm mistaken.
