Sarah after work gang RISE 👾
* sarah talks about the significance of the mug for nearly 3 minutes *
me: yes yes yes
* sarah continues to talk about the baseball, something I DIDN'T EVEN REALISE LED LINDA TO THE DAMN NOTE *
me: yes yES YES YE-- :OOOOO OH
anyway great video ☺ always a treat to see your videos ♡
i love that bit where you're like "OH YEAH THAT'S THE MUG"
the delivery of that section is way too relatable hahaha
NEW SARAH
When you talk about watching movies from the technical side instead of the audience side, I felt that
the hazards of working in the industry
Welcome back. This was great.
The Tarantino dig was excellent
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that goes into a feature-length flashback of The Sandlot whenever I see a baseball with sentimental value that was once placed on a pedestal
Fantastic video! I especially like the bit about the mug. I cannot tell you how many movies have totally lost me because they kept lingering on items that are Of Importance like I've never seen a movie before lol.
So that obvious breaking at 12:30 trying not to laugh is adorable
Your videos just keep getting more entertaining and interesting. It's great to see you back, Sarah!
Toe to tip that’s a video!
Should’ve said this months ago but these videos on Knives Out introduced me to this awesome channel, keep up the good content!
Your voice is so soothing I love listening to your videos to go to sleep
Curio sent me here. Can’t wait for part 2!
Gosh it took the upload of the VHS version to remember that I wanted to watch this but I was waiting to see the movie for myself first.
You shouldn't sell your video short as a "glorified 'top five Knives out easter eggs' listicle" because it can be an insightful video for an aspiring mass media artist. The particular framing of the Hollywood Style you gave, allows artists to consider whether or not to actively partake in it when creating their craft and how to effectively do so.
edit: relating to the topic of Communist Revolution, this might be wishful thinking but, if somebody with a commie script, design doc or what have you were to engage their co-workers into standing up for their rights, perhaps in a syndicalist way; pitching a commie media with Hollywood Style trappings could sweeten the deal to compel the workers to convince higher management to greenlight the project.

Very glad to have you back. Great video. Love the 4:3, it's tragically underutilized.
Also, I have the feeling that Raymond Chandler would have been incredibly jealous of Knives Out. He struggled with the exact type of plotting at which the film excels, and was very aware of that deficiency in his storytelling. It's why his most famous plotting advice is 'have random armed men show up for no reason and rationalize it later.'
sarah this is great and i'm happy to see you making videos again!
My dad LOVED this movie. It was so fun for him how all the little things came together and when i got home from college to quaratine with them for the summer, he was really excited to show me it. I was able to guess the culprit, they chose the obvious candidate but it was still a great movie and story. Great characters and actors and a crazy plot
Excellent start!
I'm so glad to see a video from you again!
The script on this video reminds me that I wrote this essay not too long ago about the simple topic of why I liked the matrix... that turned into a 20+ page essay (hand written no less) about the action genre itself in which I have to explain the career of producer Joel Silver. I was just writing this essay *for fun* about why I liked a movie and I couldn’t just do that, because I was writing in a video essay style I felt compelled to write something that made a bigger point than: “This movie good, this is why I think movie good”. I don’t think that writing about the action genre was bad to try doing in order to explain the context which allowed the matrix to be both successful and influential, but there was a point where I realised how long it was taking me to talk about the matrix itself and I had to step away. The essay had really served its purpose by then, since I don’t publish essays publicly anywhere it was mostly an exercise to get the juices flowing for other creative projects anyway. It took me a while to work out why I was sharing this info in this comment, then I remembered I started the essay because of your content. The video about the homestuck fanfic and on the earlier Wachowski film “Bound”. I remembered that you’d hinted at a matrix video and I didn’t know if you were ever going to make it so I decided: “I’ll just write my own matrix essay! For fun!” That’s not me calling you out for not making that video by the way, it’s just me saying thank-you. Thank-you for helping me not only get out of a creative rut, but also for getting me to write about something out of my comfort zone for essays. I’m glad that you’re back.
Welcome back! I'm so happy to see you back!
stanning the choice the use 4:3

Welcome back!! This has become one of my favorite movies, and this video already has me dying to watch it again.
Ohhh yes!!!! Knives out is in my top movies of all time lists. I've watched it like 7 times, twice with director's commentary, and I still find new things every time

Can’t wait for part two! You make excellent insights with a great sense of humor to keep the video interesting!
Sarah! :o I missed you!! :')
Hey, I just wanted you to know that I found your videos and have been really enjoying listening to your critiques on movies and games. Its been a hell of a time lately, and your funny, well thought out, and engaging video essays have really been a great thing to be able to watch for when my depression and anxiety go "Try to listen to anything more than a youtube video and I will ensure that you will forget every plot point and go into the scroll-hole that is App of the Week on your phone."
So, thanks.
Still kinda mad that it didn't get a production design or editing nomination.
Like, subscribe and bell ringed just because existential suffering in the first 5 minutes, well done.
I actually hadn’t seen the movie yet but welcome back! Congrats on getting this finished.
Also holy shit Enc does a really entertaining American accent.

Loved this video! Looking forward to part two!
That sandlot bit is, very relatable
Can’t wait for part 2. Great video essay
Glad you're back
My man it's refreshing to listen to a vid essay that doesn't recap the whole story over 45 minutes before yammering about the 'undeniable brilliance' about it part 1/6
Oh nice I've been waiting for you to come back
Looking forward to where this multi-part knives out analysis goes!
Yes you can just talk about a movie you like for 30 minutes! Welcome back 😊
Interesting 🎬
missed ya Sarah 💛
This video is really hard on my eyes for some reason. The aspect ratio and the rainbow sparkling is tough.
all according to plan
@@letstalkaboutstuff No like, I have sensory processing issues and it makes it harder for me to watch as an accessibility thing.
@@Isthecakereallyalie oh, less according to plan then i suppose
@@cerulianchild3879 you logged into the wrong account btw, idk if you wanna keep that one private
@@Isthecakereallyalie oh, i'm sorry.

Looking forward to the next part! Subscribed.
Somehow hadn't seen stuff earlier
I've been hyped for this vid
I missed your work, hell yeah!
dope ooga chaka for this one
It's a very cozy aspect ratio, honestly.
Oh damn I love Knives Out
Missing your podcasts
"DO YOU GET IT YET?"
Glad to see you back on RUclips also 16:12 is that an orb made of knives in the background!?
It's a big halo of knives that all point at someone's head if there sitting in the right spot. I can't remember if it's actually stated in the film or I just assumed that it's a recreation of a prop from one of Harlan's murder mystery novels.

Have you ever thought about starting a podcast?
The old mail char and the papers invisible ink mark arr not necessary relevant for you to known about the invisible ink setup. Because invisible inke is a classical element in detective stories, if you are savvy spectator to see those things, is probable you known about this trope.
To be clear, I am not saying the movie is less because of that. A dare to say it is more, because it giver mote than one avenue for the spectator to get the same right conclusion.
My only problem with this film is with Daniel Craig craft. I don't think he is the right mix between Clouseau and Poirot, but that is more a personal taste than a objective analyses.
it is 2020
and people are still pretending anyone takes cinemasins seriously except for cinemasins haters
euh
I must be in the minority that actually found the film quite average
Knives Out. One of the most overrated movies in years. The plot is basic, the "twists" are predictable. Those praising it are doing pretentious mental gymnastics imo.
