    At 13 years old: I started playing this game. Cried everytime a monster dies. Got attached to some monsters to the point of me just freezing them whenever they got old, so i can just unfreeze them for a week whenever i want and just look at them move and walk around the ranch. All monsters i had got old at around rank B.
    During my college years: i started playing this game again as a form of escapism, using the same old playstation i had when i was a kid, and an old outdated box tv that my family refuses to use. Engineering School was pretty hard and i needed to blow of some steam with a familiar game every once in a while. I got so frustrated on how to get my monsters to class S and beat the major 4, But i can’t seem to find a way. My PS1 finally broke down and i continued playing on a PS1 emulator for PC.
    I got an in-game joker monster that i thought would be my ticket to that class S life, but that didn’t cut it either. It can’t even learn a new technique unless you combine it when it got old.
    During my working years as a Licensed Mechanical Engineer: I was randomly walking alone on a construction site i’ve been finishing up when it suddenly and RANDOMLY hit me,
    “i need to raise monsters in multiple lifetimes, Joker style, for me to beat the Major 4”
    So i started playing again with a Phone emulator during work commutes. And f*ck yes! I finally beat the f*ckers!
    I just came looking for MR2 videos because i just learned about the legit Android/IOS/switch version that will be dropping soon. I don’t do much games these days but I think i’m gonna keep that game on my phone always, when it’s finally available.

      I totally feel you mate, that freezing of the monster before they die yeah. Always tried to avoid getting sad losing them especially if they won me a lot of battles. I always make saves every now and then so If they die I can go back to the previous saved game to freeze them instead before I lose them. Sometimes unfreezing them too to watch them , to interact with them, and watch how happy they are giving them the best food. Back then we are all noobs and mostly playing to ourselves, no guide, no internet, sometimes lucky wi h a few tip from friends or if there is a way to get a gaming magazine or the cheesy way a gameshark"not recommended though". Tons of hours spent of this game and every memory is precious.

      Depends on monster. Most of mine lasted till B rank at around 3-4 years. However I managed to keep getting suezos and mmmmmaybe colour pandoras to 4-5 years and the suezos would see A class, but the colour pandoras would only make it to B lol

      However if this were monster rancher 1 I'd end up getting golems to A rank with 5-7 years lol
      Man imo monster rancher 1 was somewhat better... you could spoil your monster and still have 100 loyalty and you can do the jobs to keep money rolling in.. I'm sure most of us playing MR2 ended up being broke unless you had the MR1 disk and fought in the heels tournament and won with sueki suezo and sold the heels badge lol
      Double Edit: I restarted a new game of MR2 and I would up with 0 golds and what's bullshit is the week you run out of golds you better fight in a tournament and/or sell something because game over is the week after you run out... that pissed me off especially when I knew there was a tourney on week4 but I got 0 golds on week 1 and week2 was game over

      @@adventureoflinkmk2 The early game money woes were because of a blunder on the game designers' part. You see, the jobs WERE available in the Japanese version, but only if you had a Pocketstation. I just bought all four monster ranchers and a PS2 to relive my childhood some. By far this game doesn’t lose anything even over a 20 year gap, I would highly recommend buying this if you’re able. The games ran between $20-40 on eBay and I was able to get the system and memory cards for $80. All in all it was a little under $200. My PS4 has been gathering dust while I’ve been binging on these classics. 😂

    Combining items from expeditions are limited (not including disc chips), you can only get them once.
    Combining items from Battles (such as Dragon Tusk and Double-edged) are unlimited.
    By the way, Big Footprint doesn't give you a Jill when you it as a combining item. You need to get Big Boots by defeating Bighands in Torles Errantry and use that as a combining item.
    Strong glue is not a combining item, you have to use it to make a Quack Doll in order to get a Ducken. Also, strong glue doesn't disappear once you make a Quack Doll.

    One thing I did when my monster was old, I always freeze them. Revive them a week before the big-4 tournament and S-class tournament. Rest them then battle. Then check on the stat gains after battle. The stat gain after battle is like adult stage after every battle and it seems like the weak stats doesn't affect it. Like Ski for Golems. It will still gain over 10 for it's weak stat. I usually reset if the stat gain is not the weak stat. Rinse and repeat until there is an indicator that it is about to die.

    So my training technique especially in adulthood is 3 hard trains and a rest with items being 1:None, 2:Nuts Oil, 3:Nuts Oil, and 4:Mint Leaf+Rest. I was interested in why when your monster seems to have no fatigue you give a Nuts Oil then initiate whatever activity, does the Nuts Oil retroactively lessen the fatigue of an activity if given on the same week or is that just to ensure they are absolutely at 0 fatigue before you start?

    • @teawch
      @teawch  8 лет назад +4

      No, Nuts Oil doesn't reduce the fatigue given by the drill on the same week.
      Fatigue and stress can be represented by numbers.
      A week Hard drill gives 15 fatigue and 12 stress
      A week of Light drill gives 10 fatigue and 5 stress
      Nuts oil reduces fatigue by 28
      Mint leaf reduces stress by 50%
      So with my training method, in a month, the amount of fatigue can be calculated as follows:
      1wk: Hard drill +15 fatigue
      2wk: Light drill +10 fatigue (total 25 fatigue)
      3wk: Nuts oil -28 fatigue (total 0 because fatigue cannot go below 0)
      3wk: Hard drill +15 fatigue (total 15 fatigue)
      4wk: Light drill +10 fatigue (total 25 fatigue)
      1wk: Nuts oil -28 fatigue (total 0 fatigue)
      The net fatigue of each month with my training method is 0, so I can keep training without rest.

    • @georgeclinton4524
      @georgeclinton4524 8 лет назад +1

      Thanks, I was using rather outdated info from back when the number specifics were slightly more of a guess. Basically I would end up still stressing my monster out and couldn't quite figure out why. Makes sense now, there would be a slight stress surplus that pushes the life index past 70 the way I did it.

    • @zombieboy3000
      @zombieboy3000 7 лет назад

      The method in this vid past the baby stage still makes your monster lose a week of lifespan every month if it isn't a HAD monster. Sadly the method gets you to exactly 70 in LI every third week iirc even if it likes/neutral to tablets. I crunched the numbers myself and I think my method for Non-HAD tablet neutral monsters is better and can save you alot of gold if it's tablet neutral or if it's hidden like is a tablet i.e. Nagas etc. Mine is HD/HD/LD/Rest items are any/ML/NO/ML. Feed tablets and no other. with my method you lose a week of HD but not lose an extra week for not being a HAD monster and you free up the 1st week for any item you want to give your monster, I personally give it Magicbananas to get back the 1 week of no training from the 4th week rest. Ifyour monster is only neutral to tablets you can feed it a mango ever other month to avoid stress build up. I've raised a naga/golem on a fresh file with my method and it reached monster stats, about 600 each at 6years old and it's still was in its prime at that age, I finished it with a little of freezing battle method with more or less 800 stat each, that's only a first monster with gold peach given at prime and silver given at elder for freezing battling method. I believe it lived for about 8 or so years with my method, that's including expedtions and a few errantry for some useful skills
      BTW The magic bananas only became available at my shop when my monster was nearing the end of its prime before a gold peach, so imagine if you fed it bananas early on when you have some loyalty to spend... yes! more time to live!

    • @georgeclinton4524
      @georgeclinton4524 6 лет назад +1

      teawch So I've been trying to figure out where my lost lifespan was going and it's not the no rest, item every week, and tablet method you show. I was searching online and I found out every time you send your monster to a battle it costs 3 weeks off their lifespan, and also there's a bug with Errantrys where the Life Index gets checked at the end of every week so on that 4th week after it subtracts weeks of your lifespan then next week at the start of the week it checks again so you get hit twice for the same week.
      I usually send my monsters to lots of battles and that was where all the lifespan hits were coming from. Say you send your monster to 40 battles, that's 120 weeks (2½ Years!) off their lifespan. Errantrys subtract 5 weeks off of lifespan (-1 at 3rd week's end, -2 at 4th week's end, and -2 at the next week's start) so sending you monster on 5 Errantrys subtracts 6 months from their lifespan. This is where I was losing so much life from.
      There is no flaw in your training regimen. Once I found out this new (to me) info I raised a Suezo from the market using your method constantly for 5½ years. It is currently 7½ years old and should live to be about 9. Suezo's have 450 weeks of lifespan and I gave both peaches, so 525 weeks. I have sent it on 4 Errantrys (-20 weeks) and battled it 12 times(-36 weeks). By only sending it to 1 Official D, 1 Official B, 1 Official S, 7 of the Big 4, the Legend Cup, and the Silver Peach tournament it has made over 100K gold and paid for the expensive raising style itself. After 5½ years of constantly training my Suezo with this style even if only 1 point of excess stress were building up per month I would have been at 60 excess points and Colt would have chewed me out. This never happened. Your method works for any monster as long as it doesn't Dislike Tablets.

      On the Video Config screen, try using the "Fast" Default settings and see if that helps (Default settings is located on the bottom left hand corner of the Video Config screen).
      You actually need a decent computer to run everything on high.

    Just raised a Purple Jell (Jell/Naga) from a disc and first monster of the save. Nice raising method, very good explanation. Just one thing wasn't very clear for me is the Jungle Expedition opens ONLY if you went to the Volcano Expedition. And you, actually, needs to go 2 times to catch a Golden Peach and the Old Sheath (Item to unlock Durahan wich is on the building behind the pumpkin next to the Ivory Tower).
    Due to money problems in the beggining and didn't want to waste de adult phase, just had 2 techs, but it was fair enough to easily win the Major 4.

      I'm glad my guide was useful for you.Sorry that I wasn't clear on the part about how the Parepare expedition unlocks only after the first Kawrea Expedition, you are right about that, this comment will surely be useful for future viewers.
      Allow me to correct one thing, it is possible to get Old Sheath and multiple Golden Peaches in a single expedition, it only depends on your luck (Old Sheath can be obtained only once in the entire game though).

      It's was strange. I was in the Ivory Tower and grabbed all the items and the Gold Peach was not there! After the first expedition, I always find a Gold Peach in the Ivory Tower.
      One more question, do you know how works the Elder Cup? Do you need the old aged monster in the beggining of the month or just in the right week?

    • @teawch
      @teawch  7 лет назад +1

    • @teawch
      @teawch  7 лет назад +2

      I feel like Errantries reduces the same amount from the monster's lifespan regardless of what stage in life the monster is in. I would rather take away the monster's life early on than when it's older because it would be better to take away the monster's life when it has low stat gains (when it is young) than the time it has high stat gains (when it is older)

      For Adolescent stage, what type of training for hard drill and soft drill? Only Shoot and Pull? and for Errantry for do when promotion available?

    • @teawch
      @teawch  7 лет назад +1

      Light drills: Domino, Shoot, Study, Dodge, Run, Endure (1:50)
      Hard drills: Pull, Leap, Meditate, Swim (1:54)
      You can use any combination of Light drills and Hard drills.
      Ex. Pull and shoot, Meditate and Dodge, Swim and Run, etc.
      For Errantry, yes, do them only when a promotion is available, and don't do too many (stop after 4-5 Errantries) because doing too many will decrease your monster's lifespan by too much.

    • @shamil1752
      @shamil1752 7 лет назад

      One more question i don't understand. For Errantry and Expedition item,
      As for Errantry you mention Mint Leaf + rest , then Nut Oils after. You stated that only go to Errantry on the first week, if i rest then it will go to the 2nd week. Same goes for expedition. Can explain how the process? Thankyou

    • @teawch
      @teawch  7 лет назад +1

      Training will give your monster Fatigue and Stress. Once Fatigue and Stress reaches a certain point, it will start to decrease the lifespan of your monster, and more lifespan will be reduced the more it passes that certain point. If your interested in the detailed calculations, you can take a look at the guide in the link under the video, look for "Lifespan Index" (in section A7 of the guide).
      Errantry will give your monster a lot of Fatigue and Stress and will decrease the lifespan of your monster (same thing for Expedition). To make sure your monster has 0 Fatigue and Stress before going to Errantry, you should give your monster Mint Leaf and let it rest before going. By going to Errantry on the 1st week, you can feed it Tablets after Errantry to decrease Stress accumulated from Errantry, which will lessen the lifespan reduction caused by Errantry. If you go on the 2nd week, you won't be able to feed it with Tablets (since it can only be given on the 1st week of the month).

    Hi teawch! I'm currently raising a Mocchini (Mocchi/???) I want to get Petal Storm and my monster is already Bad-natured, but the errantry guy has always said my monster can't get it (and his nature never got Worse). I'm wondering if Mocchini can't get Petal Storm? Is it the case?
    Also, according to this guide (gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/197977-monster-rancher-2/faqs/76372/tech-chains), Mocchi needs to get Petal Storm before it can get Petal Vortex. I'm doubtful... Maybe only inherently Good-natured Mocchis can get Petal Vortex, while only inherently Bad-natured ones can get Petal Storm?

    • @teawch
      @teawch  4 года назад +1

      I've never raised Mocchini to have Bad nature before, so I can't confirm if its nature can become Worst or not.
      However, to get Petal Storm, you will need a Mocchi with Worst nature.
      Petal Swirl --> Petal Storm --> Petal Vortex tech chain is the hardest tech chain in the game from my experience because you have to raise your monster from Worst nature to Good/Best nature and use a special tech that costs 40 guts for 50 times

    • @klinsmanhinjaya
      @klinsmanhinjaya 4 года назад

      @@teawch So the tech chain is correct? Wow... So it seems my Mocchi can't get Petal Vortex either 😭😭😭

    • @klinsmanhinjaya

      @@teawch I kind thought that it's possible to get Petal Vortex straight from Petal Swirl because of this article:
      www.tapatalk.com/groups/monsterrancher4520/mocchi-faq-t2298.html
      And, the post of this trainer's Dracco Mocchi suggests that their Mocchi acquired Petal Vortex without acquiring Petal Storm beforehand:

      Yes, my Mocchi managed to get Petal Vortex! 😊

    • @teawch
      @teawch  4 года назад

      @@klinsmanhinjaya It turns out I was wrong! Mocchis don't need to use Petal Storm 50 times to learn Petal Vortex (Petal Swirl x50 is the only requirement)
      Also, Mocchini (Mocchi/???) can learn Petal Storm. It just needs to be as bad as it can be, since it can't have Worst nature. The method I used was having 1 Heel Badge in inventory and feeding Mocchini Sweet Jelly every week. My Mocchini learned Petal Swirl x50 and Mocchi Ray. I checked with Errow every week if my Mocchi could learn something from Kawrea Errantry until he didn't say it was difficult to learn and was able to learn Petal Storm.
