2. "All enforcement options" includes "sending the Capitol Police to arrest him and haul him in front of the committee." They should consider that.
As a general rule: No Trump crony gets any credit for NOW telling us what horrible things Trump did at the time when you didn't say anything in public at the time.
You knew it was wrong and you did nothing.
Now you know how Hitler came to power. One third embracing the rulebreaking because they are bad persons themselves and another third looking the other way and doing nothing because it would weaken their own position (early on) or risking jail (later on).

When they put in their memoirs or make the statement that Trump did or said something that would be favorable to a Republican narrative? They are labeled as liars.
Take Donald Trump petitioning for the National Guard to be present on January 6 for example. Right now you or someone else is either feverishly typing the results of a “fact check“ or feverishly seeking a “fact check“ that is going to tell you that there is no official record of Donald Trump having petitioned anything or having made that statement. Therefore it is false. That’s what it’s going to say.
But for some weird reason that dynamic doesn’t apply when the things being said which there is absolutely zero proof of are to the detriment of Donald Trump.
They needed ALL the juicy info in order to really cash in!
It is interesting that if I missed my day in court, a warrant would be put out for my arrest, and a bounty placed on my head. But when politicians do it all the time, nothing happens.
It is interesting, true; more so it is sad, and the more time that elapses the more convinced we can be that there is indeed a different standard of law for one very tiny, narrow segment of society. In the end, no society that proclaims itself a democracy can sustain such an imbalance of judicial processes.

You cant demand justice for politicians. The whole government would halt because too many would be in jail. Only solution is to let them all go unpunished, because them following laws is just too much to ask.
I would say that the United States justice system has become a joke, but for a pretty good chunk of the population (the poor, minorities, gays), it has ALWAYS been a joke. We just know about it now.
This is not a court of law tho, it’s a House committee. Also, any subpoenas they issue aren’t court-issued subpoenas.
If they DO subpoena witnesses and the witness blows them off, the House has to vote whether to hold them in contempt, then refer it to the DOJ. Edit: And that would be “contempt of Congress”, btw, not contempt of court.
Why didn’t these people come forward during one of two impeachment hearings?
Why? because they still had not written their books, which means money and that is more important to them.

Hate to break it to you, but the "integrity of your democracy" and "image on the world stage" ships have sailed many, many moons ago.
People who watch real news heard abt this long ago. We heard about many incidents soon after they took place but Trump and his minions called it “fake news!”. I’m sure you recall Trump’s rage and his ranting about anonymous sources. It was an “If they’re anonymous, you can’t believe them” type of thing. It drove him nuts that people were telling on him all the time.
You are 100% on target with your comment. WTF, right? I'd be fleeing across state lines only to find out my car is out of gas and I'm on a no-fly list anyway. And I would still be wearing orange (maybe tan??) for quite some time. I would NOT HAVE A CHOICE, proceedings would be held and I would be found guilty. And no one would buy, much less read, a book I wrote about it all. What really pushes the sword deeper into the belly until it severs the spine is the fact that they KEEP getting away with these things, they KEEP getting passes to Knicks games, they KEEP fudging on their taxes (if they pay at all!), and some people in the US KEEP sending these morons back to DC. The thing that chafes me the most is the fact that now, after all his 3 ring circus BS, rump even gets air time. The entire world laughs at the US. And the people in the US who continue to not give a red rat's arsehole about our nation also continue to make me regret that I am an American. They laugh at us and we continue to think we're on the path to righteousness. Our founding fathers might now be dust on the earth, but they never would have stood up for this idiot (45) and his shenanigans. It is criminal but it keeps getting a pass. WHY?

We hear about these things fairly soon after the incidents take place. Trump calls them “fake news” and sites the fact that the source is anonymous. You should watch the entire 60 Minutes interview with Esper. Many of these cabinet members and staff feel obligated to stay for fear that they’ll be replaced by someone who thinks Trump’s behavior is okay. I totally get that.
If memory serves, it was also Esper who publicly addressed the Antifa crap when it first started being touted by Trump. He said that DOJ, DHS and other government entities had investigated and determined that “Antifa” wasn’t an actual organization and that it had no members. He literally said they couldn’t find any members. It was just a made up entity and Trump and his minions were using it for propaganda purposes. Sean Hannity was exposed doing that, so was Jason Miller.

It’s not a court of law, it’s a congressional committee. That means that any subpoenas issued by the committee are not court-issued subpoenas. And if I recall correctly, Rudy agreed to voluntarily appear, he wasn’t subpoenaed. Nevertheless, these a-holes should ALL be subpoenaed and when they don’t show up, they can be held in contempt of Congress and the matter can be referred to the DOJ.
This committee can make laws with what they’ve learned from this. That’s literally what a House oversight committee’s purpose is.

100% agree that they MUST say “either be there or you’ll be arrested”.
The problem is that the Committee refuses to use its own power of contempt to arrest people who defy the subpoenas. Instead, it refers the cases to the Department of Justice which receives the referrals, looks at them, and says "yeah, we don't care, you're on your own".
@@nomore6167 Congress does not have the power to arrest people. They are not a court of law. They can only refer contempt of Congress charges to the DOJ if someone ignores their subpoena. (And as I mentioned, the charges would be contempt of Congress, not contempt of court).
The Congressional power to hold violators in contempt hasn’t been used since the Civil War. There’s no way this SCOTUS would let them put all these cowardly traitors in the jail cell in the Capitol

Congressional committees are not courts of law. They do not have the power to arrest people. Their subpoenas are not court-issued either. It’s pretty concerning how many people are still making this type of comment.

Hi, first time Jackal here but I just wanted to correct Seth's correction. Up until Pete Davison (the 5th Doctor), the credits referred to "The Doctor" as "Doctor Who" or "Dr. Who". When the series was revived in 2005, Christopher Eccleston was again credited as "Doctor Who" but it was changed once again to "The Doctor" at David Tennant's request.
