Little Mix and Mamamoo are technically developed in the vocal department. They have shown that in the entirety of their career. Fifth Harmony, while they sound amazing, they tend to use techniques that are damaging, and it will be a problem in the long run. BlackPink needs more time to show their capabilities but right now they are fine.
@@mollymccolm I've always thought that Little Mix and Mamamoo were similar in that both groups seem like they genuinely really love each other and love performing. I know Mamamoo better and truthfully I don't think I've ever seen closer friends-basically just family. Hwasa's parents even refer to Wheein as their daughter, especially since she grew up without a dad and her grandmother who raised her passed away when she was just in high school. Both groups are seriously talented and seem like they'll always be a group, even if they part ways in their career.
That’s not true about Fifth Harmony except with Lauren who regularly smoked in addition to routinely singing from her throat instead of diaphragm. But she shouldn’t be made to represent the whole group while every other group doesn’t get judged by one member’s weak point.
@@gimi5502 well until recently, Dinah's mix was inconsistent and heady, while Ally can be chesty which causes her to strain on the upper 4th and 5th octaves. Camilla, in her 5H days, uses a very nasal placement along with a chest-dominant mix. This continues on today in her solo years and the effects are slowly manifesting - difficulty in resonating notes in the 5th octave and straining on 4th octave notes. Normani has some pitch issues and occasionally goes off key but that's about it besides being throaty at some points. And everyone knew about Lauren already.
I realise kpop groups only focus on fast songs and dance and visuals... i mean MAMAMOO are really very artist like group so professional looking but other groups dont look like them at all, and i see many big3 stans ignore mamamoo bc they're not from big company or focus on visuals eventhough i find them pretty but i fail to understand why are they not equally popular....

Actually they focus a lot on singing too, just not all the members cuz usually each have their speciality, like rap and dance. But singing is also taken pretty seriously huhu. You will find out there's looots of very good singers in kpop, and you can clearly immediately hear it in some groups (hi Dreamcatcher.) But yop, Mamamoo are with no doubt at all the most vocal focused group and the best in this area for the girl groups (Exo being the best in this when it comes to boygroups x) ) All that to say that the kpop genre is much more diversified than what you seem like to think! Aaand I'll just end up saying that popularity has never had anything to do with who is the best and all that jazz, if you know what I mean. Love!
Honestly one of the comparisons should have been Red Velvet or another kpop girl group known for great vocals. No hate to BP but it's odd to compare them with Little mix and Mamamoo vocally.
He said in the beginning it was only because he previously made videos on all the groups before so this rank is easy because he and the viewers are familiar with each group individually. But yes I do agree with you: vocally BLACK-PINK stand out as the clear bottom here so Red Velvet would have made for a more of a tight competition.
You know what's so interesting to me. Okay so don't shred me I'm like a newer mixer as of like around 4 months ago. I liked their LM5 album when it first came out and I still love it but I didn't look into their background. But with their newest album Confetti I started digging into their old music. I honestly get Jade and Leigh's voices mixed up bc of how light they are. I do notice in most belts that Leigh has a more child like tone where Jade has a more colored one. But I really want to find songs that showcase Leigh vocalizing aside from "Secret Love Song part 2" and "Lightning" are there anymore songs that Leigh takes a strong vocal approach in that I can listen for?
I thought Little mix would win in pretty much every category, really impressed by Mamamoo! Now I understand why people keep requesting a collab, please make it happen! It would be incredible!
No especially low , belts and lm is pretty weak on upper register since except Perrie no one carries head voice support.jade has relaxed falsetto but no support in hv Leigh Anne lacks hv support as well and her falsetto isn't really open and relax.none showed potential in whistle
In Mamamoo's harmonies, Moonbyul and Wheein are the key. Moonbyul's lower registers gives the harmony more body while Wheein's voice gives it an extra oomph. Wheein is my bias and it's because her voice really suits ballads like in her song Anymore and it could fit in other genres (like in Easy) and it also complement other people's voices (ex. Diet by Peakboy ft Wheein). I really love it when collabs.
Omg i really agree. Wheein is also my bias and it's because of her voice wise. I mean she's really like a gem in kpop industry, literally no one sounds like her, i really cant think why she's so underrated as a solo artist.

Mamamooooo 😻. I love their group dynamics on stage. They always look like they are having fun together and genuinely love performing. Their stage presence is like whoa, I can’t take my eyes off them and the way they sing so well together is so satisfying to hear. They all complement each other so well.
I think Red Velvet can compete with them. Mamamoo is better than Red Velvet when it comes to vocals AS A GROUP but Wendy from Red Velvet is a better vocalist than all Mamamoo members.
Little mix are the best girl group overall. They just have it all. All 3 members are extremely talented and can sing. Even the previous member, jesy. They’re the biggest girl group of this generation and then deserve it.
Lets be honest here. I prefer LM because i love them and they are extremelybtlented BUT they arent the biggest girl band it’s blackpink. But for me LITTLE MIX ALL THE WAY IS THE BEST AMONG THE REST. Even though they are underrated.

Why I love MAMAMOO so much. They don’t focus on singing high pitched like most other k-pop girls groups, which gives them an overall more mature sound without any visual assistance.
Why is BlackPink part of this discussion. No offense I like their music and they have all worked hard for everything. They're not a vocal driven group. A great group! Vocals are not their focus or strong point.

I think Little Mix and Mamamoo are vocal goddesses. But personally I enjoy listening to Little Mix more. I think they know very well when to hit high notes so the song doesn't sound so overloaded. And their harmonies are from another world 🤯🌟🔥
Yup... Not hating on Mamamoo but I feel like every memeber of Mamamoo REALLY and LITERALLY like belting that every member just belt and then belt and then belt again... Whereas LM use alternatives for reaching higher notes such as falsetto and head voice. Not saying that Mamamoo are not good in upper registers but still they put emphasis on belting. My opinion tho.

Mamamoo and Litle Mix wins when it comes to vocals ! Blackpink is more rap and dance their vocals are good too , but Mamamoo and Litle Mix is another level . Edit : Actually i don't like editing comments...but uh lemme explain. Jennie writes her own raps...Solo remix version , Sure Thing , Stay(she wrote the whole song), So Hot,Lovesick Girls and she helped with DDDD. And Lisa writes her own parts too , but not that much like Jennie. She wrote Sure Thing and So Hot. And they both have skills tho , Jennie's flow , technique, breath support and Lisa's voice.

Little Mix is probably one of the best girl groups to have entered into the music industry ever since Destiny's Child whereas Fifth Harmony went down to be one of the most iconic.
Most Iconic? how so? because they had a huge chart success, ...Fifth Harmony never had any kind of cohesiveness and it showed which was sad for them cause they could have at least try to give LM a run for their money....LM has had 5 UK #1 singles....1 UK #1 album....over 25 UK top 10 singles....LM's tours have gone down as the best sellers not only in UK history but world history....and have sold way over 20 million albums....how many albums has 5H had? (and yes I mean with all 5 original members, I feel once a member leaves it kind of affects the formula....and YES I feel this about LM now that Jesy is gone).Point is, that 5H never really wanted group success, it was just ways to a means for them....where LM wanted solo success but knew that group was the way to do it and embraced it and not only embraced but OWNED it and loved each other for it!

He never said blackpink are the best vocal group nor the most talented group, he just stated his personal liking in the end as a separate section of the video. Also the whole point of this video was to state who is the best in each category not who is the worst, thats why he didn't make a finale vocal ranking, if you can't do basic math the finale results are: Mamamoo: 2 wins Little Mix: 2 wins Fifth Harmony: 1 win Blackpink: 0 Which means Mamamoo and Little Mix are tied at 1 place.
For real, he's not calling anyone bad. He's just stating who he thinks is best, not who is worst. And like y'all can disagree with him of course & have your own opinions, but some people act like he's hating when he's not. For me personally, I prefer Blackpink's vocals in terms of vocal tone & uniqueness, but I prefer Mamamoo and Little Mix for vocal technique. Now, notice how I didn't mention Fifth Harmony. Mamamoo does amazing harmonization. Immortal songs are a perfect example. I always get chills when I listen to it. Little Mix have always been skilled. Both groups are amazing.

Idk I’ve never heard a Little Mix song I like (granted I haven’t heard all there songs). The only group I really like from this video is Mamamoo but because I happen to like the style of music they do (they have Jazz, Show music, R&B, Latin, other influences in their music). I also love their rapper.
Personally, I have listened to several of little mix’s songs and I liked some of them (mostly their ballads) however some of them are not really my taste and the only reason I would listen to them should be for their vocals... so I don’t think that people who don’t like their music necessarily have bad taste, it’s only different. But indeed tho, they vocally should be the standard for all groups and sadly yeah they are still quite underrated, hopefully their company will start to up the promotion game.
They are not the standard. I’ve heard girl groups who sound WAAAAY better. Perfect example: June’s Diary who is WAAAY MORE underrated than LM-As I’ve said before, some of LM’s songs just ARE NOT THAT GOOD. For me, I DO NOT like their BIGGEST songs: Black Magic, Shoutout to My Ex and Hair. Just not my taste, and I’ve listened to all 6 albums. Personally, LM5 is their best work they’ve released, and I honestly like the songs on that album. Get Weird is okay ( minus BM and Hair) and so is Confetti. LM definitely has so BOPs, But their discography as a whole is kinda blah to me.

They're like the most lovable people in the world sometimes lol. Also, I think they could have maybe tied with little mix in the harmony department, it's just that the video clip used for reference was a very small little piece of a song, performed on a couch during an interview, it wasn't really a real performance, so it's hard to compare it to LM's more put-together show. Either way, both groups are really special and Mamamoo and LM both have beautiful harmonies.
Not to mention hwasa and the way she sings. It’s very personalized and true to herself. She doesn’t follow rules she doesn’t like, same with vocal techniques
I feel like this video was overall pretty fair except for the part where you talk about Mamamoo's harmonies, they are precisely known for having one of the most impressive harmonies in all of k-pop but maybe since as you said you're still new to them you haven't seen enough videos of them where they harmonize.
Little Mix literally has everything in terms of vocals, lows, highs, belting, riffs, runs, harmonies, long notes, etc. and it's not just one member, it's all of them who's capable of these all
Moonstar has many talents, but my favorites are her raps, dance steps and her greasiness (which is required to be an over-the-top girl crush). Her singing is underrated, even by me. When I hear her get the spotlight, it is always a surprise and I need to get this straightened out.
Their debut in 2014, Mr. Ambiguous, has been long regarded as one of the best ever. They are fan-girled by so many other girl groups in K-Pop as well. To misquote a common saying, they are the singers' singers.
I think it could have been nice to hit on fifth harmony without Camila because harmonies were tighter and they felt like a true group. they all wanted to be there. it was a completely different vibe

i just have to say I’ve been a fan of little mix for years, they’re vocally amazing, have incredible harmonies (love on the brain and olm’s wings) great dancers, super funny, their personalities and friendship are beautiful and genuine, they’re always on point and doing that while having some very hard moments like Jesy battling all the hate from being “fat” (which i never understood cause she is gorgeous) simply one of the best groups to have ever exist period

13:00 i blame a lot of fifth harmony’s flaws as a group on their label. sometimes members would get barely any lines on songs, so they would have to fight as hard as possible to stand out, even if only for a few seconds
This has been talked about alot amongst the members themselves after the hiatus and yeah the way the label pays attention to only one or two members, if i’m in the group i would’ve fought for the spotlight as well 🤷🏻♂️ it’s just how things works in every group project i guess

It's so sad that 5H didn't work out eventually, when they were on xfactor MY GOD that was something that I've never seen on that show, I think that their problem is quite simple. They are really good individuals and could've work as a group but they had a really bad evolution. Sad that when they started to find their place in the industry they went on a hiatus but they are better as solos

You need to listen to the cover 5H did of “Feels” for spotify. Im no expert of course but they were so much better as a group in their last era 2017-2018. As a 4 piece their voices blended more, they regained harmonies and had for the first time equal distribution. Plus they were as well for the first time involved with the process and they really got sooo much better. Just as an example Lauren started doing higher notes again, not as much as she used to in x factor days, but in those final years they all got more time to prove they could do more than they were doing in the previous albums. I guess with 5 members (bc they were the only group of 5 i think) they were limited to an specific “task”, sound, or technique, Lauren only does lows, ally high notes, Dinah all the vocal agility stuff idk, but with one less member they could really explore more aspects of their voices thus they sounded more cohesive as a group, they all did a little bit of everything. If they sounded like 5 solo artists put together is because they weren’t allowed to intervine in the artistic process, they were told what to do, but like i said before as soon as they were finally able to write their songs, got involved with the music, etc (only bc they hired a freaking lawyer) all that changed.
Great video! Though I might suggest for future videos, an underrated Moonbyul performance would be her live duet with FT Island's Hongki on the song "You, Clouds, Rain" - she belts briefly towards the end of the song, and pretty stably imo. Solar herself has an impressive moment in Mamamoo's cover of Save Me From Myself - the lungs on that girl lol. And finally, Hwasa's cover of Orange-Colored Sky is awesome, her best cover imo.
How it’s been almost 3 years since their break up but you still include 5H. Yep that’s how great they were. Not gonna like, I miss those goofie girls. Dinah still stands out even among all these amazing vocalists.
@@jeonjk-l4q They aren’t really dance based either tbh. BPs choreographies are really unspectacular & on the easier side (not saying they couldn’t handle much harder choreos btw, they are great dancers, but definitely not dance based).

Little Mix and Mamamoo are technically developed in the vocal department. They have shown that in the entirety of their career. Fifth Harmony, while they sound amazing, they tend to use techniques that are damaging, and it will be a problem in the long run. BlackPink needs more time to show their capabilities but right now they are fine.

@@mollymccolm I've always thought that Little Mix and Mamamoo were similar in that both groups seem like they genuinely really love each other and love performing. I know Mamamoo better and truthfully I don't think I've ever seen closer friends-basically just family. Hwasa's parents even refer to Wheein as their daughter, especially since she grew up without a dad and her grandmother who raised her passed away when she was just in high school. Both groups are seriously talented and seem like they'll always be a group, even if they part ways in their career.
That’s not true about Fifth Harmony except with Lauren who regularly smoked in addition to routinely singing from her throat instead of diaphragm. But she shouldn’t be made to represent the whole group while every other group doesn’t get judged by one member’s weak point.
@@gimi5502 well until recently, Dinah's mix was inconsistent and heady, while Ally can be chesty which causes her to strain on the upper 4th and 5th octaves. Camilla, in her 5H days, uses a very nasal placement along with a chest-dominant mix. This continues on today in her solo years and the effects are slowly manifesting - difficulty in resonating notes in the 5th octave and straining on 4th octave notes. Normani has some pitch issues and occasionally goes off key but that's about it besides being throaty at some points. And everyone knew about Lauren already.

Actually they focus a lot on singing too, just not all the members cuz usually each have their speciality, like rap and dance. But singing is also taken pretty seriously huhu. You will find out there's looots of very good singers in kpop, and you can clearly immediately hear it in some groups (hi Dreamcatcher.) But yop, Mamamoo are with no doubt at all the most vocal focused group and the best in this area for the girl groups (Exo being the best in this when it comes to boygroups x) ) All that to say that the kpop genre is much more diversified than what you seem like to think! Aaand I'll just end up saying that popularity has never had anything to do with who is the best and all that jazz, if you know what I mean. Love!

You know what's so interesting to me. Okay so don't shred me I'm like a newer mixer as of like around 4 months ago. I liked their LM5 album when it first came out and I still love it but I didn't look into their background. But with their newest album Confetti I started digging into their old music. I honestly get Jade and Leigh's voices mixed up bc of how light they are. I do notice in most belts that Leigh has a more child like tone where Jade has a more colored one. But I really want to find songs that showcase Leigh vocalizing aside from "Secret Love Song part 2" and "Lightning" are there anymore songs that Leigh takes a strong vocal approach in that I can listen for?

In Mamamoo's harmonies, Moonbyul and Wheein are the key. Moonbyul's lower registers gives the harmony more body while Wheein's voice gives it an extra oomph. Wheein is my bias and it's because her voice really suits ballads like in her song Anymore and it could fit in other genres (like in Easy) and it also complement other people's voices (ex. Diet by Peakboy ft Wheein). I really love it when collabs.

Most Iconic? how so? because they had a huge chart success, ...Fifth Harmony never had any kind of cohesiveness and it showed which was sad for them cause they could have at least try to give LM a run for their money....LM has had 5 UK #1 singles....1 UK #1 album....over 25 UK top 10 singles....LM's tours have gone down as the best sellers not only in UK history but world history....and have sold way over 20 million albums....how many albums has 5H had? (and yes I mean with all 5 original members, I feel once a member leaves it kind of affects the formula....and YES I feel this about LM now that Jesy is gone).Point is, that 5H never really wanted group success, it was just ways to a means for them....where LM wanted solo success but knew that group was the way to do it and embraced it and not only embraced but OWNED it and loved each other for it!

Idk I’ve never heard a Little Mix song I like (granted I haven’t heard all there songs). The only group I really like from this video is Mamamoo but because I happen to like the style of music they do (they have Jazz, Show music, R&B, Latin, other influences in their music). I also love their rapper.
Personally, I have listened to several of little mix’s songs and I liked some of them (mostly their ballads) however some of them are not really my taste and the only reason I would listen to them should be for their vocals... so I don’t think that people who don’t like their music necessarily have bad taste, it’s only different. But indeed tho, they vocally should be the standard for all groups and sadly yeah they are still quite underrated, hopefully their company will start to up the promotion game.
They are not the standard. I’ve heard girl groups who sound WAAAAY better. Perfect example: June’s Diary who is WAAAY MORE underrated than LM-As I’ve said before, some of LM’s songs just ARE NOT THAT GOOD. For me, I DO NOT like their BIGGEST songs: Black Magic, Shoutout to My Ex and Hair. Just not my taste, and I’ve listened to all 6 albums. Personally, LM5 is their best work they’ve released, and I honestly like the songs on that album. Get Weird is okay ( minus BM and Hair) and so is Confetti. LM definitely has so BOPs, But their discography as a whole is kinda blah to me.

They're like the most lovable people in the world sometimes lol. Also, I think they could have maybe tied with little mix in the harmony department, it's just that the video clip used for reference was a very small little piece of a song, performed on a couch during an interview, it wasn't really a real performance, so it's hard to compare it to LM's more put-together show. Either way, both groups are really special and Mamamoo and LM both have beautiful harmonies.
Not to mention hwasa and the way she sings. It’s very personalized and true to herself. She doesn’t follow rules she doesn’t like, same with vocal techniques

I feel like this video was overall pretty fair except for the part where you talk about Mamamoo's harmonies, they are precisely known for having one of the most impressive harmonies in all of k-pop but maybe since as you said you're still new to them you haven't seen enough videos of them where they harmonize.
Little Mix literally has everything in terms of vocals, lows, highs, belting, riffs, runs, harmonies, long notes, etc. and it's not just one member, it's all of them who's capable of these all

Moonstar has many talents, but my favorites are her raps, dance steps and her greasiness (which is required to be an over-the-top girl crush). Her singing is underrated, even by me. When I hear her get the spotlight, it is always a surprise and I need to get this straightened out.

i just have to say I’ve been a fan of little mix for years, they’re vocally amazing, have incredible harmonies (love on the brain and olm’s wings) great dancers, super funny, their personalities and friendship are beautiful and genuine, they’re always on point and doing that while having some very hard moments like Jesy battling all the hate from being “fat” (which i never understood cause she is gorgeous) simply one of the best groups to have ever exist period

13:00 i blame a lot of fifth harmony’s flaws as a group on their label. sometimes members would get barely any lines on songs, so they would have to fight as hard as possible to stand out, even if only for a few seconds
This has been talked about alot amongst the members themselves after the hiatus and yeah the way the label pays attention to only one or two members, if i’m in the group i would’ve fought for the spotlight as well 🤷🏻♂️ it’s just how things works in every group project i guess

It's so sad that 5H didn't work out eventually, when they were on xfactor MY GOD that was something that I've never seen on that show, I think that their problem is quite simple.
They are really good individuals and could've work as a group but they had a really bad evolution. Sad that when they started to find their place in the industry they went on a hiatus but they are better as solos

You need to listen to the cover 5H did of “Feels” for spotify. Im no expert of course but they were so much better as a group in their last era 2017-2018. As a 4 piece their voices blended more, they regained harmonies and had for the first time equal distribution. Plus they were as well for the first time involved with the process and they really got sooo much better. Just as an example Lauren started doing higher notes again, not as much as she used to in x factor days, but in those final years they all got more time to prove they could do more than they were doing in the previous albums. I guess with 5 members (bc they were the only group of 5 i think) they were limited to an specific “task”, sound, or technique, Lauren only does lows, ally high notes, Dinah all the vocal agility stuff idk, but with one less member they could really explore more aspects of their voices thus they sounded more cohesive as a group, they all did a little bit of everything. If they sounded like 5 solo artists put together is because they weren’t allowed to intervine in the artistic process, they were told what to do, but like i said before as soon as they were finally able to write their songs, got involved with the music, etc (only bc they hired a freaking lawyer) all that changed.

Though I might suggest for future videos, an underrated Moonbyul performance would be her live duet with FT Island's Hongki on the song "You, Clouds, Rain" - she belts briefly towards the end of the song, and pretty stably imo. Solar herself has an impressive moment in Mamamoo's cover of Save Me From Myself - the lungs on that girl lol. And finally, Hwasa's cover of Orange-Colored Sky is awesome, her best cover imo.
