In the 1980s, I saw Billy Preston live at the Capitol Theater in Passaic New Jersey. While his music was excellent, it was overamplified and actually was so loud that it was painful to be in the audience. The audience reacted negatively, and Billy didn't understand why. Never been to any other concert where that situation existed.

I thought George Martin was their 5th Beatle back then.

Then what about Stuart Sutcliff and all the guys in the Quarrymen before John picked Paul, George and Ringo. George brought Billy to John the same way Paul brought George to John. It would have been great if Billy could have fully joined and the Beatles stayed together in the 70's going on tour and creating albums.

The fifth Beatle was a Brit not an American
