Tyler cannot fathom a woman being happy without spousal abuse first 😵‍💫. I’m convinced he writes what he saw his mother go through.
Dallas’s mother blames Ava for the negative remarks made about her son by her father at the funeral. She didn’t want and couldn’t afford a church service, but was talked into it being “proper” by Dallas and Ava.
All-in-all Tyler owes me money for pain and suffering watching his Tubi movies 😂

He does write what he witnessed in the home. There's a documentary about him. It's quite telling. You see a glimpse of who he thought was his biological father in it. He was...well, like the mother in law in this movie, frankly. But he knew what Tyler didn't learn until adulthood, which is that they are not blood related.

The mom was right to be mad. She told the truth. They all looked down on them and out of pity paid for the funeral. Since they paid for the funeral they thought they could publicly chastise them. There is a time and place for everything, a funeral ain’t it. Mom gave Ava a chance to be a part of the family healing process and let them down in their time of need. She knew her dad hated those people and wanted her to be with someone else. She knew her dad would say something bad about him. Her dad/ pastor was disrespectful. He knew what he was doing and kept going anyway when the church backed him up. She knew that man outside the club got his arse beat by those brothers for looking at her so why hug him and convo with him and you know your husband is on the way out the bar. Her friend wasn’t a good friend either. She instigated all the time and looked down on her relationship because she thought hers was better. Not condoning abuse or excusing his behavior. Just said her friend wasn’t all this great.

As I watched this movie, I realized he should have done it in the reverse. Focus on the family and the bad brothers. Let Ava meet him while he’s doing bad things … show how she loved him through that stuff then it didn’t work out but at least explains his behavior and mistreatment. Maybe add the funeral scene at the end to show the brothers final outcome after all the wrong doing throughout the movie. The movie could have been good there were many plots but he just can’t be realistic i have no idea why it’s kinda scary. It really does raise a serious question - where does he get his ideas. Like does he not know any real people? This stuff so far fetched it’s like not even real life anymore

He has production continuity issues and Simple flaws that should not have been missed. Ex: the lady saying those clothes were hand me downs from the first lady who was clearly 4 sizes smaller. If he wanted that line to make sense.. He could have thrown in 2 lines from Megan or the husband saying how proud they are of the first lady since she lost weight.. That would have solved that issue. I'm not the biggest fan of Tyler Perry's, movies, but I do like some of his stuff. One thing, I'm a little bit confused about is when white Hollywood make the same types of movies. I mean, look at Jennifer Lopez (Enough), so when it comes to us, as black directors and actors, and Tyler Perry in particular it, seems then people have a problem with it. But when it's made by others, even if it's the same movie over and over again with different actors, no one has an issue with it. I'm not really sure what the big issue is, the movie was ok, it was decent, it wasn't the worst nor the best movie ever made, it was just decent. And if people can accept Hollywood, making slavery, movies over and over again then what's the problem? At the very least it's a black person in a major position giving other black actors jobs and paying them that they deserve to be paid. So that alone should be good enough for us as a race of people.

Well seems to me in since she was a battered wife, now that her husband is gone she finally has control and she just wasn't a good person to begin with along with her husband. They were just bad people, and they raised bad children, and Megan's character simply got caught up in trying to save him, or trying to see the good in him. It really reminded me of if you've ever seen what's love, got to do with it, the Tina Turner story, and she kept staying with Ike Turner despite the abuse, because he told her everybody leaves him or whatever, so it seems like to me she was just trying to be his support system no matter what. Like she mention she thought if she left him then she would be admitting to failure. Sadly there are too many women like this, seems that on social media you have black men talking about how black women aren't submissive enough and we're too hard. When a movie shows how a black woman gets used and abused for trying to stand by her black man. Social media keep dogging Tyler Perry for making these type of movies, but honestly, how many people would actually look at or respond to a strong, positive movie with no conflict, and that the black family is having a wonderful life, maybe a sitcom, but not a movie, people unfortunately looking for drama.

And Dallas struggled these two worlds. He needed some good spiritual counseling. Cut toxic family loose, cling to his wife who loved him and he could have been the one to help his family. All did great performances!

"I wanna sleep with you, in your room, in your bed" -- That line made me fly back in my chair, 'cause I loved it -- Ava later realizes she was married to the wrong man, all along. -- And, we discover she has a great support team -- Yes, this movie is similar to 'Diary of A Mad Black Woman' (that may have been intentional, because Tyler believes black women deserve genuine romance). -- There are many black women in the US without a man, but after watching this film, and then discover its main message is "Black women are worthy of romance, too, despite the odds" makes this a must-see movie. -- I enjoyed the suspenseful moments -- Meagan Goode is listed as one of the film's producers, very good to know, and she looks so beautiful. Ledisi wrote the song "I Will Survive" it fits perfectly with the movie's main point.

There were too many things in this movie that didn't make sense for me to type it all, but overall, I think too many of you jump on the Bash the Black Man Bandwagon and refuse to give Tyler Perry his props when he does a little better. This movie was vastly better than the crap he has put out the past seven years. That is a _very low_ bar, but he cleared it! 🤣😂😅😆
Anyhoo, the acting was pretty good (Meagan Good, Richard Lawson & Debbie Morgan). *Here is something I HATED!!!!!!* They went out of their way to say over and over again that *their Atlanta home was 90 minutes away from her parents' home,* yet *_Every Single Time_* someone traveled to the other place, they would magically get there in 10 minutes. 🙄🤬 Seriously. I appreciate Tyler's studios and all he does to create opportunities for Black actors, costume and set designers, producers, etc. But what he desperately needs is to stop writing and directing everything, and instead, give people _Who Can Actually Write and/or Direct_ a chance to do so. It would still be his name in the title, but the quality would be better. OH, and he needs an editor. Badly.

They didn't do a good job of explaining, but the main reason for Dallas' anger seemed to come from his brothers pushing him and putting stories in his head. There's a scene where he's sitting in his truck talking to eldest brother on the phone where he's agreeing with big brother telling him Ava has been cheating, sending him a picture of her talking to a guy as proof, and confirming that he's definitely filed the divorce papers. Dallas is a troubled and insecure man who was given zero dimensionality in this film.

no you ain't trippin! You spoke the truth! Every word. And the sad thing is that his crap always goes #1 the week of release. Tyler Perry knows the market he caters to: Church-going black women who are long-suffering and think black men aint shit. I cannot count the number of conversations my church-going mom has had with her sisters and other church-going women complaining about men, and how black men aint no good, and I always had to remind my mom that I am in the room, and she'd always preface her words with "except you, son." The comment you made about the woman taking off her clothes in the church- I thought the same thing while watching the movie. I thought 'she's a completely different size than Debbie Morgan. How Debbie's clothes gonna fit her?" But when she demanded her sons take her dead son out of the coffin 5 minutes into the movie I know it was going to be some over-the-top mess. A few other items- when Meagan Good's husband was going up the staircase, why didn't she yell or somehow let the man in her bed know her husband was coming upstairs? And how could lil Meagan Good drag her husband's body with ease? I understand gravity helping her get him down the staircase- that park was believable, but the rest of the dragging? No! NO security in the bank? Like you said about the best friend talking about his wife- I'm sorry, aint no man going to disrespect my wife a second time. The first time-he will be corrected and I'd make sure there will not be a second time, periodt! Great post.

Why isn't anyone editing his movies? It's like he says cut and just put it out before watching it himself.

I give Tyler Perry props as an entrepreneur but as a filmmaker with good storytelling and films that will live on? Unfortunately he'll be remembered for his business ventures verse having films we'll be watching years from now. We still watch Robert Townsend, Mario Van Peebles, Keenan Ivory Wayans, and Spike Lee movies but guaranteed we forget Tyler Perry seconds after leaving the theater. Can any of Perry's movies sit next to even Spike Lee's or John Singleton worst films? I think we know the answer.

0:14 time stamp. I'm only 14 seconds in and I agree with you. The other thing? I went to college in Atlanta. Live in Atlanta. Love Atlanta. Even though Im not from there. But I am so GXx XXXX tired of every one of his movies being centered around Atlanta. He has REALLY WATERED DOWN the vibe of the city by doing that. Especially because he mostly shows ignorant behavior going on. That's poor representation.
