The divorce party was so weird. It seemed like a room full of strangers. I laughed so hard-did they just call people off the street? Nobody but Ava's best friend ran up to hug her.
I think Tyler does this abused woman to happy relationship storyline so much because he didn't get to see this for his mom since she wouldn't leave his dad. Tyler needs some therapy...
He certainly doesn’t identify with the characters that he writes for other people because they are so different from the characters that he writes for himself. Tyler Perry writes characters for him to portray that are intelligent, secure, levelheaded, astute, hardworking, respectful, not a womanizer, cheater, abuser or no domestic violence. His characters have no baby mamas, are not ignorant, or criminals with a lengthy arrest record. Tyler Perry writes for himself stable relationships where he’s the better husband out of the others and if there is a break up (like in Good Deeds from Gabriel Union) it’s amicable, without the hatred, drama and chaos. It makes you wonder if Tyler Perry sees himself differently from other men and women within the black community because he doesn’t identify with them in character or out. JS
@dawnwalton1099 good observation because I had never really thought about this but you're so right. He always plays the "good" black man. And even madea, as crazy as she is, is a good person. But to be honest idk if Tyler has the chops to play a villian. For one, his face is too kind. And two, he's not a strong enough actor
I definitely agree with you! After seeing his documentary on Prime, I came to the same conclusion! He saw a lot that his mother went through. He’s wanting to vindicate her in his movie plots it seems. Idk. I could be wrong!
@@dawnwalton1099 I've always said the same thing. He always writes his characters as perfect and never plays any of the negative stereotypical characters he writes.

My movie grade is a D. More money was spent on gas with all of the back and forth driving than writing this movie yet again.
Tyler needs to do better…..I feel like he struggles with character development. I wish we could have learned more about Dallas’ family and where the anger stems from. Also, it would have also been good to understand the relationship between Ava and Dallas. Also Dallas’ connection with his friend seemed unauthentic. Nothing about that relationship gave “best friend”.
Agreed! I was hoping they would eventually loop back around to him killing his daddy and what that did to their family but they just left it hanging there. Plus, we don't know literally anything about his back story with his best friend or his brothers
Tyler don’t want no writers girl! “He don’t give a dayum” (in my Maesha voice). 😂😂 But yes, he needs help with Character Development. People in his movies are just running around acting a fool and we never know why 🤷🏽♀️
I agree with your assessment on Dallas' character needing to be fleshed out more. There were plenty of scenes that could've been shortened or left out to leave room for that important backstory development!

And it's always some big ninja waiting in the wings (Benji), but he can't seem to protect the woman. Like really. And you're right his characters on Sistas are written the same way. The BEST thing I heard in this review was “Religion can sometimes be toxic.” Yes ma’am.Women are expected to put up with cheating, drinking, emotional, physical, mental and financial abuse… Imagine if a woman cheated and became pregnant. Would they encourage the man to stay. Rhetorical question.
GREAT REVIEW!!! This certainly was typical Tyler Perryism with his dark, depressive, miserable, angry, hurt, devastating, traumatic, broken, stereotypical story because Tyler Perry sees nothing good within the black community. One of my gripes with this movie aside from it being typical Tyler Perryism is the fact that people are judging the recently divorced characters according to their characters in this movie. Like people believing that Tyler Perry wrote his script for this movie directly from the lives of these actors and actress when there is absolutely no public indication disclosure that there was any violence or abuse in the marriages of these people playing these parts. Plus no indication that Meagan good had someone on the side after her marriage breakup yet these are the rumors and assumptions that this movie has produced. Which is so unfair but Tyler Perry wanted it to be set up with the assumption anyway which is why he used the newly divorced Corey, and Meagan.
Meagan Goode's character was essentially in a marriage by herself. Her husband did not participate (in a healthy way) in the actual relationship. Thus, she did the right thing by accepting the divorce. A person SHOULD FIGHT to stay in a marriage if BOTH people are fighting to keep it healthy. In this case, Meagan Goode was really the only decent person in the marriage.
The movie was ok! Not the best and not the worst, I enjoyed the acting skills more than the story line lol! Thanks Measha for being honest about your past🧡🧡🧡
Hey friend! I am so happy to see you back doing your reviews. I was worried about you. I am glad that you made it through that hurricane. I haven’t watched this movie yet. I just wanted to say hello. I’m gonna check it out tonight. Also also if you have not seen Love Island, check it out. This is my first time watching it and this season was so good. OK I will be back once I watch this Movie🫶🏽
Measha you out here working tuhhday!! I’ve been praying you and your son are doing well since that Beryl passed through. Happy to hear you speak your speech!
Chile!!! I try every time with Tyler, but he just can’t get right!😂 This movie frustrated me!! Glad you’re back! I have been “binge”watching your reviews all day!😂
Boooo🍅🍅🍅 Tyler Perry did this same thing in acrimony. Had young Taraji go over to that boy's house , excuse me trailer after her mother’s funeral and he took advantage of her. This man must be stopped.
I never understood how she said she wanted to stay in the marriage like her parents. But her parents seemed to have a really good marriage. And you are telling me that Megan Goods character came to the conclusion that she needed to go through abuse because her parents never said they were proud. I know there are people like that. But come on. Seems like a stretch to me.
I def agree about it feeling “rushed” at the end but I also find it ridiculous because it was 2 damn hours, like wtf…a good hr and 15 mins on unnecessary dialogue, like the scenes that should have been quick went on forever and the scenes that deserved some attention just left us asking more questions. Tyler done got us again!
Ms. Measha... I love that you read. I haven't heard of that first author you mentioned but yes, I remember Of Mice and Men! That was summer reading for 9th grade English classes❤
I tried so hard to watch that movie but I kept thinking Tyer Perry wrote this, so I knew I would be disappointed……and I was😣. But none the less I loved your review. You’re right when you said it was predictable. The movie just didn’t have that shock factor I needed to keep me wanting more, I give that movie a U for unsatisfactory 🤧
I am so glad you reviewed this movie. I have a couple of questions. Did Jim have a job because he was always available? Also, that gun was too close that Dallas should have seen it? This was a bad lifetime movie. Thank God for streaming because TP wouldn't be making any $$
Okay, I finally watched it. Smh. Poor Corey. He's a good actor, and he did what he could with this basic script. I now realize that Tyler doesn't need rest. He's just not a good writer. His ego will not let him hire writers. Smh. He should enroll in film school.
Spike Lee never lied when he stated that Tyler Perry has zero talent. The movie is garbage. Tyler has a position on divorce, but he's never been married. He pimped Cory and Meagan, and Ms. Dimples (Debbi Allen) who has been married and divorced 4 times (maybe more). Everybody, including Beyonce's former step daddy, Richard Lawson, who recently divorced.
I don’t agree that Tyler P. is untalented. He is a play writer, which is mainly dramatic and a bit repetitive. Tyler has a formula and he hasn’t deviated from that style. As a result, his movies will always be “B” movies or have a Tubi/Lifetime effect to them. One thing Tyler did correctly was hire actors that could try to bring their passion and current circumstances to the film. The only issue was that his script didn’t convey the feelings he really wanted to be portrayed. It wasn’t a horrible movie but it wasn’t great. However, I see Tyler for who he has always been a play writer. I’m not understanding why y’all are wanting cinema quality from a stage play writer. It’s not the same and never will be.
I was confused with Jim & Dallas' friendship. How did they become friends and why did Jim continue the friendship with abusive Dallas?? * Need the backstory on Dallas admitting to killing his father * What was the likeable quality about Dallas that Ava found so appealing? He sucked!!
I absolutely related because I was in the same type of marriage except my church did not support me. They encouraged me to stay so I was happy to see this.
i think it was IMPLIED that he was “groomed” to be ruthless….like his father abusing his mom & his mom instructing him to kill his father but some further insight woulda “helped”
Yesss!! I'm so glad you reviewed this! The movie really had lots of potential but Tyler just gon continue to recycle the same tired storylines and caricatures. The actors did their best considering how poorly written the script was.
smh & that’s the problem….the bar is so LOW b/c the NEED is so HIGH. so he can throw out anything at Black people & we watch it 😢 it’s exploitative & tyler is FULLY aware of this
I actually enjoyed the movie. IMO, the movie left some areas open to interpretation and allowed an individual to write their own scenarios based on their personal histories and/or experiences! 💕💚💕
SO happy to see you back Measha!! And I'm even more happy you reviewed this mess BUT I will admit that this is probably the best Tyler Perry movie I've seen yet. It could have just been the actors though

I Actually Loved the Movie .. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I keep hearing about this opening scene and I'm just like, what in the world? TP pushes the element of suspension of disbelief too far. There's creativity, fantasy, even the absurd, and then there's TP. Just outright outlandish.

You're more entertaining.. so I'm listening to your review instead of watching the movie!! And I laughed from the VERY beginning.. Thank You!!! 🤣😂
Glad you enjoyed it!
All of this! Been there..done that...got the T-shirt
So happy to see you review this!!! I just commented the other day asking you for this! You’re the best girl! 💜🥰🤗
Thank you so much @kellie9365 💚
The movie was ok! Not the best and not the worst, I enjoyed the acting skills more than the story line lol!
Thanks Measha for being honest about your past🧡🧡🧡
Measha watched so I could live 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you! After Mea Culpa, there was no way 😅
😂😂😂 I got you! I hope yall were safe in Houston during the storm
@@MsMeashaIMO I live in Charlotte. I am glad y'all are safe and recovering down there. I have family there.
Hey girl heyyyy!!! Thank you for thinking of me. 💚
Measha you out here working tuhhday!! I’ve been praying you and your son are doing well since that Beryl passed through. Happy to hear you speak your speech!
Thank you for thinking of us. 🙏🏼💚
Chile!!! I try every time with Tyler, but he just can’t get right!😂 This movie frustrated me!! Glad you’re back! I have been “binge”watching your reviews all day!😂
14:41 I tell my clients to do a pros and cons chart all the time so they can see it in black and white.
That is such awesome advice.
This commentary had me HOLLERING!! I found your channel today! I’m hooked:)
Hey girl heyyy!!! Thank you for giving me a view @ntabon0219 😊
I agree the ending sucked. It was too predictable. He should at least done a plot twist.
Yep😂 he sure did.
All his movies are rushed at the end. It's all basically the same template at this point, smh
Ms. Measha... I love that you read. I haven't heard of that first author you mentioned but yes, I remember Of Mice and Men! That was summer reading for 9th grade English classes❤
That's exactly the first time I read that book 9th grade!
New subscriber, your commentary is golden 😂!
Also, sorry you had to encounter a Dallas in real life !
Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel 💚🤗
I am so glad you reviewed this movie. I have a couple of questions. Did Jim have a job because he was always available? Also, that gun was too close that Dallas should have seen it? This was a bad lifetime movie. Thank God for streaming because TP wouldn't be making any $$
Jim was always conviently available. He was wearing a suit but Idk where or if he was working. 🤔
@@MsMeashaIMO
Jim works as an attorney. He's Dallas's attorney as well.
Here to support Measha’s great content.
Thank youuuuu 💚
I was confused with Jim & Dallas' friendship. How did they become friends and why did Jim continue the friendship with abusive Dallas??
* Need the backstory on Dallas admitting to killing his father
* What was the likeable quality about Dallas that Ava found so appealing? He sucked!!
I'm so sick of Tyler Perry's movies/series, but I love your review
This moving was an overrated TV movie from the 80s. Just a mess😂😂😂
Truly an after school special.
I absolutely related because I was in the same type of marriage except my church did not support me. They encouraged me to stay so I was happy to see this.
Every time you called Big Benji Big Lenny I hollered!!! 😂😂😂😂
This is the second most funniest review I’ve seen!!! Go away Lenny & Jim!!! 💀💀💀💀💀💀😂😂💀💀💀💀💀💀😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Chileeeee!!! That opening scene was a whole lotta!! But I wish we got a little more background info about Dallas and how he became so abusive.
i think it was IMPLIED that he was “groomed” to be ruthless….like his father abusing his mom & his mom instructing him to kill his father
but some further insight woulda “helped”
So glad you reviewed this. You’re always on point. 🥰🙏🏻
There is no way a black man can do that in a bank. 🤔🤨😠
I love the commentary ❤ I was waiting for you. Yes, sometimes you have to see things on paper, also went through abuse.
It makes things so much clearer. I'm sorry you went through that.
Yessss I would love for you to review supercell. Movies might just be your pivot for slow show seasons. Glad your back!!!!
Thank you! I'm going to look into reviewing more movies.
@@MsMeashaIMO yesssssss ♥️
Yesss!! I'm so glad you reviewed this! The movie really had lots of potential but Tyler just gon continue to recycle the same tired storylines and caricatures. The actors did their best considering how poorly written the script was.
I almost tripped over my little doggie to get to this couch and listen……..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Woah. Wasn't expecting this! Thank youuuuu!! Haha, I clicked SO fast
I'm like so excited abx in such disbelief, I'm distracting myself from actually listening, haha! Okay, lemme calm down now 😅
I tried to zuzzh up the channel 😂😂😂
@MsMeashaIMO ooh it looks like it's paying off with all these views! 🎉🎉🎉
Not Quan Millz!!! Baby!! My Baby Mama Got Roaches 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
👀THE OPENING SCENE WAS SUPPOSE TO GETCHO MIND RIGHT😩🤣 A TRUE QUAN MILLS MOMENT. THANK YOU FOR THIS REVIEW.
You are very welcome 💚
It doesn’t matter how bad the script is Tyler Perry is laughing all the way to the bank. The funeral scene alone will bring in the viewers.
I get what you are saying, but his movies are a ONE WATCH and I guess that's all it takes to get paid 😉
smh & that’s the problem….the bar is so LOW b/c the NEED is so HIGH. so he can throw out anything at Black people & we watch it 😢 it’s exploitative & tyler is FULLY aware of this
RIGHT!😂
I was waiting on this review! Girl you never disappoint 😂🤣
Thank you so much 💚
Whew chile Ty-Ty gone pump out these heartbreak hotel, beaten down black woman stories if he don't do nothing else😩
Lmao😂😂right
Hey girl heyyy!!! I haven't seen you in a while. I hope you are doing well
I actually enjoyed the movie. IMO, the movie left some areas open to interpretation and allowed an individual to write their own scenarios based on their personal histories and/or experiences! 💕💚💕
Oooo chile the way I clicked so fast. Let me walk this dog real quick I’ll be right back 🤭
💚💚💚
Jim was so useless and annoyed me the whole movie lol
Me too! He didnt help at all
SO happy to see you back Measha!! And I'm even more happy you reviewed this mess BUT I will admit that this is probably the best Tyler Perry movie I've seen yet. It could have just been the actors though
I really liked the actors as well
Talking to em & watering them!!! Lmaoo. 😂😂😂 the one liners are golden
So glad you’re reviewing this!
You were nice to this movie! I tore Tylerious up! 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂 I think I'm still recovering from Beryl. I couldn't even get into it like I should have.
Loved the critique of the movie. You are so right about the template that TP uses for his movies. Hopefully, he will see some of the reviews like yours and utilize the constructive criticism.
I'm so glad to hear your thoughts on this (and so many things as well). I trust your opinion, and I was on the fence about watching it. Ok, I'm bout to listen now and see. Lol
Love you
Hope you enjoy it!
I Actually Loved the Movie .. Cory did an Awesome job portraying Dallas and the Actress who Played Dallas Mom did an Awesome job..However, I do Agree they should have had more scenes showing Dallas back ground and what happened in his life to make him so Angry and Abusive.. We did need more of a Back Story about Dallas family.
Great review. I was cracking 😂 up at the voices....I was tickled, and you really had me laughing with the nicknames....but Andy Griffin was a good one...😂😂😂
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I keep hearing about this opening scene and I'm just like, what in the world? TP pushes the element of suspension of disbelief too far. There's creativity, fantasy, even the absurd, and then there's TP. Just outright outlandish.
I thought Benji had killed Dallas in the bedroom fight and his facial expression looked as if he thought so too😂😂😂 That's honestly where I thought we were headed
