We love these mini NAS boxes, especially when they’re NVMe flash inside. This guy holds 4 M.2 SSDs.

    • @Rushil69420
      @Rushil69420 7 месяцев назад +2

      I think people are paying a premium specifically for a very small, but capable, NAS like that.
      I live in NYC and know many people with fairly high incomes ($200k+) who live in either small 1BR apartments, or in a slightly larger apartment that they share with roommates.
      You wouldn’t think so but theres definitely a market made up of people for whom money isn’t really an issue, but at the same time, space, power consumption, & noise still are.

      It's because of the NVME speed.

    • @SevereMkII
      @SevereMkII Месяц назад

      @@jollygoodfellow3957 NVME speed is completely useless for most home NAS systems.
      That's the issue with these low cost small NVME NAS systems. Unless you have 10+gigabit networking in your home or business all that speed is wasted because you are saturating your network speed far before you saturate the NVME bandwidth.
      It's like having a 300MPH capable car. It's really cool, but you'll never see that speed in usage unless you find a roadway capable of it as well.

      @HaloAceGamerTV That's the speed limit of the network interface, yes.
      Most of these NVME units are not designed with bleeding edge NVME sticks in mind, if for no other reason than almost no consumer network can keep up with that anyway, and most networks that can are servicing hardware in a totally different class than a 600 dollar QNAP.
