🖼️ Floating Frames for Canvas Paintings ~ Your Next Side Hustle
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 26 июн 2024
- Here's an easy step-by-step tutorial on how to build a floating frame for canvas paintings. A great woodworking project that sells. Perfect for a side hustle.
Formula for your frame lengths: width of frame x 2, added to width of gap you want x2. Add the result to the length of the side of your painting. I'd actually add an inch or two more to that measurement to ensure accurate cutting.

Thanks for the great guidelines to build a floating frame. My wife recently started painted and your video has helped me create the frames she needs. Thx Again! Also, your painting is definitely worthy of a frame!
Thanks for the feedback. That's awesome you're working as a team!
Yes, frame it!
Thanks for the show, the frame is very nice as are the instructions. The painting ….. thats another story.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to share your thoughts!
Hey Ronnie, once again, great video! I’ll be giving this a try in the next couple of weeks. I have a 12x12 painting of a parrot I’m going to frame. I’ll be getting material tomorrow although I’m going on the cheaper side of lumber until I’m sure I know what I’m doing. Thanks again for the tutorial. You do some very nice work!
I'm glad you found it helpful. Good idea to use less expensive wood at first until you're confident. Good luck with your project!
frame it, is lovely!
Wow.. this is so beautiful!👍
Thank you for sharing a nice video.😄
Thanks! I appreciate you stopping by.
@@RonniesWorkshop Im expecting your next video. 😄
Frame it! It looks fantastic.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for showing me how to do this and your painting is very nice.
Thanks! I'm glad it helped.
Sure!
Gracias, son muy lindas personas.
Beautiful, malae that fame
Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
I'm a little late to the party but I would definitely frame your picture. Thank you for the tutorial on framing. It was very helpful.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
I appreciate it, thanks!
Yes, frame that bad boy.
❤I love your picture you are very talented
Thank you so much 😀
This is the best video i've seen on how to make floating frames.. very helpful! Pre-attaching the inner frame to outer frame as shown seems like the way to go. Also, if you are going to paint the inside frame black so it has more of a "floating" look i'd do that first with a non reflective / flat black paint.
Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm glad you found value and thanks for watching!
I agree!!!!
Frame IT!!!!!!!
Definitely frame! 5/8/24
cabin scene deserves a frame!
Thanks!
I say frame it! Cool work!
Thanks!
Good painting we all have a starting point
Thanks!
Yes it deserves a frame
I know it’s a little late. But yes. Frame worthy. I just found you. I like what you are doing. Great info. I’m subscribing
Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to comment and honored with the sub.
yeah put a frame on it!
Excellent video! My husband is going to be totally wrecked that I found you, cuz he'll have to cut the boards 😂 Apparently, after many trips to the ER an lotsa stitches, I've been deemed too clumsy to mess with power saws 😂 😭 Anyway, I've recently taken up a new hobby & I'm so excited to have this info! Now hubby can help me make frames for all my new diamond paintings & it'll save so much money. Some of the pieces are quite large!❤️ I'm really great with measuring & building, not so great with sharp objects LOL My husband's a machinist & diesel engineer, but he didn't have a lot of experience with building or construction. He likes no-nonsense how-to videos, so i already know he'll appreciate yours.
PS: Frame your painting! I love it! It reminds me of a cabin my Uncle Vernon had by a lake in Oregon. We used to stay there when I was a little kid; I think it was near The 3 Sisters. ❤
Please pass on my apologies to your husband, lol. Thanks for stopping by, I'm glad you found some value.
@@RonniesWorkshop Will do 😂 And thank you!
Thank you !!!! I really think I can sale my pictures for more if I frame them!!!
I hope you find success! Thanks for watching.
This is such a great tutorial! Excited to make frames for some middle school art students I volunteer with. Could you please clarify a couple of the tools you are using?
1. What tool you are using to make the reference line around the frame before punching holes?
2. What are you using to drill the recessed holes?
Thank you! And your painting absolutely deserves a frame!
Thanks so much for watching. I hope the kids enjoy your frames! The measuring tool is this amzn.to/3J5VU50 from Kreg. I use it all the time on various projects. The recessed holes were made with a small forstner drill bit. You could use a countersink drill bit too. Hope your projects go well!
Hey man!!! You framed that picture yet? Well what you waiting for....? 😊😅
Frame it! Red cedar might compliment the scene, and hit at the boat color ;)
Thanks!
Great video,
Can you post the formula in the description with where to input the dimensions for “your size” painting? Thank you!
Done. Thanks for watching
How wide is the outer frame? I missed it in the video? Thank you!
Do you mean how deep, like how far out from the wall it is? If so, it is the thickness of your inner frame plus the thickness of your painting to have it even with the painting when mounted. I like to go a 1/16" or so more just to have the painting inset a bit. It's all just what look you like. Thanks for watching.
Frame it!
Very nice....except you used that beautiful mango wood for the back of the frame? It'll never be seen!
No matter the quality of the painting, if ut's your first painting, it MUST be framed!
Thanks for watching!
Incredie..
Do you have any thoughts on the blackening or not for floats? I think your darker stain worked fine on the inside, even though your base frame color is lighter. That could be one step to eliminate. What do you do with a pine float? As my wife says, the right frame on a so so painting is like a good haircut on a so so man. Frame it up my man.
I always say, "You never know until you try"! I say give it a shot. Could look fabulous, and thanks for stopping by!
hi do you have a tutorial on how to make the jig you made in the video?
No, I do not. Any kind of marking will do as long as it's accurate and you can make repeatable cuts with it. Thanks for watching!
I think you missed your calling. That is a beautiful picture.
Thanks!
Do you have a video making that jig?
No. You don't need to have that particular jig. Jist some sort of stop block system or tape markings to get the same length cuts. Thanks for watching!
Hickory
Bass wood
The painting is really good. I can't even see the numbers
😊
FRAME IT!
Thanks for the feedback!
@@RonniesWorkshop anytime, I appreciate all of the time you put into making the videos. I also build frames for a local artist that is my neighbor. We were just talking about having floating frames as an option. The frames I build for his canvasses are up to 6 feet! Keep up the good work. I'm also retired as of 3 years ago and started wood ]working more since I have the time now. Been a DIYer my whole life.
@@johnmooney9016 Wow, 6 ft! Nice
@@RonniesWorkshop @jkwoodworksbymooney
Just followed your FB channel.
You said that is the one and only painting you have ever done. I’m kind of skeptical that you are the artist of this picture. Lol
It really is the only one I did, other than paint by numbers when I was a kid.
@@RonniesWorkshop Like I said in an earlier post I think you missed your calling. That is a beautiful picture. I am very impressed.
@@boninm252 Our friend is a good teacher!
I'm a year late to the party. Did you end up framing it?
Thanks for stopping by! No, I never did frame it. Got busy with other things!
Hi. Can I send my paintings to you to frame?
Sorry, I don't do that, but thanks for the interest and for watching!
Are you sure Bob Ross didn't paint that?
Too kind! Thanks for watching. :)
Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial! PS: your painting is very well done (IMHO). Looks a bit like the darker side of WINTER, evoking wistful and melancholy feelings. Definitely worth framing. 👍🏽🙏🏽🏔️🌲
Thanks for watching!
Frame it!
Thanks!
