- In a room there's no other faces
Don't know why I'm feeling like this
Tell me lies, I won't believe them
Why don't it always turn out right?
If we are together again
Surely this will never end
These times have changed this is never gone before
I'm waiting for you behind the door
In a room there's no other faces
I sit alone here let through the night
In a room, we're slowly wasting
I don't belong here, it don't seem right
If we are together again
Surely this will never end
These times have changed this is never gone before
I'm waiting for you behind the door
She lies sleeping in a half filled bed, her eyes
No longer study her emptiness
[ Lyrics from: www.lyricsmode.... ]
In a room there's only so much space (So much space)
Two souls playing in loneliness
I've thrown away the key
I've gone and locked myself and for good
No one can reach me
No one hears my voice anymore
Not anymore...
If we are together again
Surely it will never end?
These times have changed this is never gone before
I'm waiting for you behind the door
If we are together again
Surely it will never end?
These times have changed this is never gone before
I'm waiting for you behind the door
If we are together again
Oooh
Surely this will never end
Oooh
If we are together again
Oooh
Surely this will never end
Oooh
If we are together again
Oooh
Surely this will never end
Oooh
Criminally ignored in the U.S. One of the best Britpop bands. Ever.
free peace sweet is a banger of an album
The drums give The Who vibes - that's a great thing!
This aged very well.
Again, amazing drums.
The Pete Townsend guitar solo , brilliant
Probably one of the strongest tunes of the BritPop era. So tight and the drummer has got his shit together, big time. Yes, a fantastic song. Truly worthy of The Who status, without a doubt! The whole band killed it!
@George Duffy yeah I remember hearing them for the first time when I was about 15. Great band.
The drummer is the tighest of paradiddle kings.
Not just the drummer, great bass line
Nigel Clark the singer regularly visits my old cafe in my town but I keep missing him.
I was so glad when this song came out. I'd had enough of the Beatle-esque Oasis tunes even though i'm a Beatle fan. It's one of the finest Who type tracks ever recorded......
One of the hidden gems of the 90s... I don't think this ever got the air play it deserved... A great track from a great album.
I remember hearing the chorus a lot at least
Yes.
This is a really great song . Nice Keith Moon style drumming, anyway, if you are reading this, id love you to check out the Poem that i wrote about Rock Stars. Simply just type in the following title to the search bar above.....Poem Rock Stars
This song was huge in the UK in spring/summer 1996
Considering I was familiar with it here in Spain, not sure if your assertion holds true.
Wish it was 1995 again. I hate modern times. I hate 2020. I hate Coronavirus. This is brilliant. True essence of the 90s
Okay, I’m gonna say it…THE finest pop song of the 90’s. Never gets old.
Agree 100% - Pete Townsend & Keith Moon would have been proud to have called this their work

Honestly Dodgy are an absolutely fucking awesome band. Amazing melody to their songs. They should have been absolutely massive!!
the drummer has got his shit together.
And a great harmony singer too!
That opening drum fill though
I'm a mature listener...loved it then and still dance around to it on a weekend. TRUE TESTIMONY TO A TUNE ...
Saw and met Matt the Drummer when he drummed with Ian McNabb and The Icicle Works on one of their anniversary tours. Great drummer and nice bloke 👍
Their finest tune by a long chalk IMHO. Deserved to be a much bigger hit than it was.
What an intro, one of the best drum fills on any intro aswell. What a track!
superb song, and some shit hot drumming, class little band, and so sadly overlooked, they were so tight.
great band - saw them 3 or 4 years in a small venue and they were still good.
Totally agree William,,,the drumming is fantastic!!!
What was average and overlooked in the 90’s is musical genius today
P.s decent drumming.... if you appreciate great drumming though listen to Jimmy Chamberlain’s absolute quality for the Smashing Pumpkins on their debut album Gish, different class 👍🏻
@@Optics2024 Love the Pumpkins, amazing band every member a superb musician great taste
Genius lyric...
She lies sleeping in a half filled bed, her eyes
No longer study her emptiness
In a room there's only so much space (So much space)
Two souls playing in loneliness
Agreed. Perfect.
Wicked tune. Britpop meets The Who
1996 ruled for music and this was one of my most favourite records of that year, very good early summer hit. 😊😀
Paul John Leadbeater This one, and "Grateful when you're dead" from Kula Shaker. 1996 did not get any better than these.
CanalPSG oh bloody hell! I remember Kula Shaker when I was a kiddo..mum liked em. Tattiva or something was one I remember from them!
The drummer is great on this track.x
Jonathan Burley didn’t he always wear a hat
Matthew Priest on drums! He lives in Wilton near Salisbury and is a drum teacher among other things
I’m in NY , MTV NEVER aired this video. Thank goodness from 95 til 2000, my cable carrier carried Much Music from Toronto, and they played this and Good Enough. This is SUCH a great, powerful song, and it did NOTHING in the US. Thank you, Much Music, and you helped me discover so many other great UK (and Canadian) artists. I miss MM
This came out just as I was doing my GCSEs... brings back so many memories. Listening to it all these years later my first thought is 'what amazing musicians these guys were' (and probably still are for all I know)
in a room probabaly one of the greatest songs ever writen!!
Absolutely superb song from my childhood. God I severely miss the 90's what a decade to be young.
This is why I loved the 90s. Such good rifts, melodies and incredibly talented musicians! I loved and still love this band 😍
That drummer is worth his weight in gold....and he doesn't look light
This lot weren't my bag at all in the 90's. But you've got to hold your hand up and say that this is a belting song - one of my guilty pleasures🙂
Masters of power pop. Free Peace Sweet is a hell of an album
i remember this group. drummer matthew always wore a hat during their live performances. their other hits included 'staying out for the summer' and 'good enough'. classic indie / alternative tune :)
Thank you for your input.
How can they be ‘indie’ if they were on a major?
This song is brilliant. it takes me back to summer of 1997 .loving life at 17 with love of my life.🙌🏻 🥰
Good song to evoke memories of the indian summer of my youth in 1996 - when 28! Perhaps I should've been busy settling down and making babaies by then but what the hell, I'm glad I wasn't now, looking back - else I'd have probably missed all this classy Britpop era!! :-)
Not having kids at 28 is great.
Lol 28 is very young when you’re 35! This is the true tail end of youth & it’s well over once your 45!
Lol, I can't remember typing half of these things on RUclips comments sections a few years ago but what I said in 2013 still resonates! I'm 51 now - so I now realise that even 'tail end youth' is long gone! I try to still look and keep young though by maintaining a positive outlook and keep highly active :-)
Pheonix festival!
You all know... The rupture but then there's the hope! Spring days of yore and the light in her hair and eyes of the one you so deeply, dearly, totally loved beyond everything else. Don't forget the ones you truly loved!
I get a surge of energy listening to this. Has to be one of the most overlooked gems. Incredible.
Brilliant tune from a cracking band, who somehow went under the radar, shame because they could really rock out live.
william mcmonagle I literally have no idea how I knew about this band because I was in the States and we had JUST gotten the internet a year or two before I heard this for the first time (I see this came out in '96, I think I found it in '99). I mean we had dial-up and I was downloading pirated mp3s wherever I could find them which was pre-Napster. I was the only one at my high school who was into music like this but American pop was so incredibly awful in the late '90s it was like the only thing I could listen to that wasn't awful lol.
I remember Dodgy, Hurricane #1 and a band whose name was just A lol.
This guitar solo is one of my favourites of all time...magical!!!
Love love love the middle eight. Woke up to it in 96 (I think) and it's stayed with me for 20 years. Thanks.
Oh how I love this song. Sums up a really happy and important part in my life. I still come back to it, to remind me of good friends and good times.
Outstanding song from a great band.
Brilliant track this, highly underrated just like the band.
Great drumming Kieth Moonish
It has a very 'Who' feel to it. Which is no bad thing.
It's like the Who meets the Byrds. Great.
+salvadormarley totally
TOP BAND
brilliant description!
When it comes to good music I always get to this gem. Nothing in compare tu this beautiful tune. Still in 2023 boys.
Fantastic drumming and guitar solo
Met the lads on Saturday and bought them a pint lovely fellas👍
Deffo one of the most under-rated bands of the 90's, started off as a Who tribute band hence the comparisoms, f**k I miss the late 90's. Actually f**k I miss REAL music.😭😭
I thoroughly agree. One of the great songs of the decade.
One of my favourite bands of all time. God I miss the 90's. As soon as the 00's came round, music took a massive nose dive and has in my opinion, never recovered.
Each member of this band are awesome musicians, songwriters and performers. I really do miss the 90's. When bands were proper bands.
One of the greatest drummers ever❤
glad to read " The Who " comments ,I've always thought that about this band
The MOST underrated band of all times
Along with Gene
Adding this to my quarantine play list ... forgot how utterly brilliant this song is!
One of the great adrenaline rushes of the Britpop era, up there with "Ready to Go" by Republica. Criminally underrated (even to this day, judging by the paltry number of views of this the official video, views which by now should be in seven figures at the very least).
God Bless Brit Pop.
Underrated and brilliant. Another classic banging tune from Dodgy 👌🏻
Just randomly started singing this at work the other day.
Great song.
Same for me just now. No idea why it’s come in my head after about 20 years
This was a tune that used to send shivers down my spine 22 years ago great guitaring and drums + the other great time from the era was can I dig it by the mock turtles
i saw dodgy at reading festival in the 90s...great band...when i dig deeper some songs remind me of the Beatles...
More 'The Who' than the Beatles.
Bloody brilliant band! Timeless 👏👏🫶🫶🫶🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶
Choon...very underated band...
Touring again in UK this year 😉
Great drumming
I wonder 'Who' still thinks its one of the best songs of the 90s?
A forgotten classic
Love 3 piece bands. Forgotten what a great wee album this was off.
i always loved to listen this while on the poppers and strong cider ,top class tuneage!
This reminds me when I was a kid. This is such a good song!
a hidden gem
Best band of the 90sin my book, what a track this is Brilliant.
A great band this song is their best
One of the great tunes of yester year
And THAT drum sound!!
It's a shame cause these songs are REAL songs unlike the songs these days. This is more like music!
Yes. Like Northern Uproar, real songs for real people. Not fake plastic crap like Romo.
fantastic sound
Love this song such an epic from its time its that retro 60`s sound mixed wth current sound l like.
shades of the Who
Good song. Always liked Dodgy.
Brilliant song and a great guitar solo !
i forgot about these guys - awesome track to my old ears in sh1tty 2017
Outstanding song from one of birmingham 's great bands that have emerged in the second city in recent years
Like a 90s Duran Duran.
Ahhh the 90s, great times; before the internet, 9/11 and the whole world went bat-shit crazy and everyone turned into a paranoid, opinionated, hateful gob-shite (self included). Peace and love mo-fo’s.✌️
True ha ha.
great song great band i met Nige at a wedding in evesham last year .really nice bloke
Amazing Tune! Still stands up today! dx
Brilliant. Takes me back to some great times.
totally adore this song...
damn that drummer!
When songs had real drummers.
Right cos every drummer now is virtual…🙄
Amen. The synchopated toms on this track are awesome. Rarely hear anything like this anymore.
@@leighamery981Probably because you’re too narrow minded.
Yeh i hate fake drummers 😀
Matt priest…brilliant 👍
Absolutely timeless
What a song ......❤
A good track and a good band, and a reminder of a lovely blonde girlfriend a long time ago. Lovely lass.
I use to enjoy getting smashed to this at uni, sadly these days are long gone, but had a good laugh and evoked some good memories at Lancaster.
Drummer lead brilliance
Lovely tune, I remember hearing this back when I was a kid and really loving it
Yes it could easily be a Who song.
true! but the guitar style is more west coast-ish...byrds , neil young, J.A
Gasparuccio X The guitars sound like The Zombies to me.
uh! i didn't notice the zombies influ..i'll listen again :)
killer intro
Really well constructed pop song but so so so derivative. Just shows how 1960s music was really prevalent in the mid 90s.
A filmed backwards band who were looking forwards.
This is very impressive!
Memories of going cornwall with mate in a mini. Happy days
I had a girl back then who put this on a love-mixtape for me, along with music such as republica, blind melon, goo goo dolls, paul weller, sheryl crow....man...had some girls with excellent music choices
think i will be adding them to my playlists now!!
I really love this band
Save the trees... Classic 90s ideology. Great band and song though. 90s music was electric.. Masses of talent. Dodgy were a class band.
This choon sums up the 90s
