That’s why I play chess to slowly increase my patience. Now I even take 1 min to make a move sometimes and if you try you can slowly but surely be able to make calm decisions as well

@@ameykadam5195 really late reply but kh2 is the only move that "works." if the king moves anywhere on the 3rd row then the rook will attack with check, creating a queen and winning white's rook. if Kf2 then that allows Rh1 with the same outcome, allowing black to create a queen and win the rook. "but why can't white take the pawn after Rh1?" because then there's a pin with Rxc2 Rh2+ Ke3 Rxc2, winning the rook. if you move the rook anywhere else, you either let the king free to attack the pawns or break the pin on the pawn, creating a draw g5 doesn't work because then after the black rook moves and white takes the pawn, the king can't move up to protect it fast enough from being captured. h7+ doesn't work because the king can hide behind the pawn and it gives black a tempo allowing him to take the pawn on the next move because the rook can't move back to defend it in time.

He actually has barely above average IQ. He's just very good at memory and pattern recognition, but overall he's not much smarter than you, me, or the next guy.

25:22 as the GM in the room, I can explain this to you hikaru. The rook needs access to the bottom of the g file. Your opponent will attack your h pawn, in which case you push your g pawn to defend. He will then attack your g pawn, and the only way to defend it is to place your rook on g2 where your king previously was, and you now enter a rook and 2 vs rook endgame which is winning
I'd explain it by saying that moving the pawns and the rook to any other position would weaken white's position, while Kh2 doesn't really change anything (keeps protecting g1) and then black is forced to move the rook or the king, but black doesn't have any 'neutral' move to play, just bad ones.

that's called intuition... your intuition can be right or wrong.. but the better you are at thinking consciously and analytically, the more accurate the intuition will be
6:21 Qd6 Bxe6 loses for black to Rxe7, shocked Hikaru missed something so simple. The reason it's not the right solution is because Qd8 forces a queen trade, which makes the position close to equal but slightly better for black.
I love how he tells himself "don't get too cocky" to slow himself down and focus harder on not making a mistake. I do a similar thing when driving fast in dangerous situations on the autobahn. It works really well to focus.
I'd like to point out he's solved a 3937 elo puzzle ... He's rated what like 2800 ish, sounds like my whopping 1500 puzzles rating ... Means I should be more like a 350 elo player, great way to inspire confidence.

I do like it when he does that. I don't always get what he's saying but I surely get amazed every single time he explains what he's planning to do.
We get motivated as well and our mood becomes good and we win more games because of that
