    Just an update on the Multi Role template, everyone:
    1. Swap the places of the rocket rails and HMG so the rocket rails come first. This will classify the plane as CAS, which gives +20% agility when you're on the battlefield support doctrine.
    2. The 650K range is a tad bit short, so you can swap the armor plate with extra range modules/drop tanks (whatever the weight allows)

    Here's the dilemma I have with "meta" fighters, there's little to no definitive guide on 1936-1939 air production. I feel like preparations made in those three years have more of an impact that making meta fighters from 1940 onwards where the game likely "ends" in 1940 via snowballing effect.
    Personally I've developed my own personal meta as to convert some 480 interwar tactical bombers GER has at the start of the game to heavy fighters with 4 light MGs and 4 light MG turrets.

      Part of the problem is that if you are not Germany, you either don't have cannons as a game start tech, or else you don't have good access to rubber to mass produce fighter planes.
      Some European countries with only light aerial machine gun tech simply don't have a practical workaround to not having as much Air Attack as the Germans per weapons slot until those countries get the heavy machine gun tech, which really isn't meant to have research begun on until late October 1938, due to the research ahead of time penalty with an earlier start on heavy aerial machine gun research which would result in a whole avalanche of other techs later on not being researched as soon as they need to be.
      Britain has substatially better access to rubber than Germany, and can somewhat compensate against Germany's aerial cannon advantage by using that rubber for self-sealing fuel tanks for more Defense, and by avoiding having extra fuel tanks on other than scout planes. (Scout planes don't get shot at much, and so can have extra fuel tanks.) Not having extra fuel tanks means a faster production rate, which will partly compensate from the lower quality from having only light machine gun tech instead of aerial cannon tech. Not having extra fuel tanks also means avoiding a reduction of the Defense stat. Britain has unusually small core territory airzones to defend, and so can get by without extra fuel tanks in most airplanes. Britain also has the Air Experience to be able to afford to add a light machine gun turret to an airplane design.
      Some countries simply can't make those adjustments. If those countries make airplanes before they get heavy machine gun tech sometime in 1939, those airplanes will often simply become victim airplanes that will aid in creating more German aces. As such, there is in Europe until 1939 the German build, the British build, and the no airplane build.
      Outside of Europe, Japan has practical uses for airplanes. Range is mostly king in Asia, so land based airplanes for Japan will be mostly medium airframes and transport planes. There is a niche role for small airframe Ground Attack airplanes, for the small percentage of land battles in Asia that will happen within range of some well-supplied airfield conquered by Japan. Well-supplied airfields close to the frontline are scarse in Asia. As such, medium airframes taking off from more distant but well-supplied airfields will be the rule. So often in Asia, an airfield close enough to the frontline is poorly supplied, resulting in airplanes taking off from that airfield have poor mission efficiency. Transport planes have a supply delivery radius slightly larger than the base combat radius of a 1936 era medium airframe. Out at sea, Japan has aircraft carriers, and so needs carrier airframes too.
      Short version: Having a no airplane build is fairly common in Hearts of Iron 4 during the 1930s for various reasons. In many countries airplanes use too much fuel or too much recruitable population to be useful. There is also the risk of one's airplanes being so bad that they will assist too much in generating enemy air aces for countries that have superior airplane tech at game start in January 1936. Czechoslovakia for example should simply scrap or sell its game start airplanes, since otherwise the enemy Germans in 1938 will make easy progress toward generating aces if game start Czech airplanes appeared in the sky to offer to engage superior German airplanes in air combat.

      (Optional) I like to use drop tanks if playing a major or nation that can afford them.

    I would not say the "cheap/high ground attack CAS" meta is busted at all, atleast not in MP where people will stop trading if their fighters are losing in a zone. Against AI or in a test scenario sure, but that's not how a decent player will micro their planes.

      @@MrLizson sure, but my point was even if it seems that you're winning the air war by a few percentage points, you can still incur massive losses for ignoring air defense. Just 10 days of fighting can result in big losses, and you're not looking at the air screen all the time. If you have established comfortable air superiority of at least 70% then you can bomb with anything you want, but until then you have to be mindful of cas IC lost

      @@balkan-cowboy Yeah your point is true and proven, I am simply saying that in the MP scene with decent players doing the air war, cheap CAS with stacked ground attack is still the meta since the superiority is usually more binary per zone.
      There will be times in MP where the air will be contested, but not enough for it to justify less ground attack or a higher IC when you average it through out the entire game.

      I did do a 30 min naval tier list for the majors, I'll do a part 2 on that one at some point. Unfortunately people don't seem that interested in the topic compared to other parts of the game, so it has to remain secondary for me as I have limited time to produce. Maybe I'll make smaller videos with instructions on navy designs/philosophy

    Honestly why I still play the game on 1.6.4 version. Less broken features like vehicle designers. For example Space Marining the AI is harder when you can not design a tank just for pure armor values that's cheap to make. To get the same values requires like expensive heavy tanks or heavy SPAA/SPGs. Not cheap and hard to make on mass. Also can not cheese aircraft design either and design fly swatters that the AI can not deal with.

    ap bomb locks on cas are the best naval bombers for damage output but you cant fit extra range on so maybe only for carriers and not asw

      I thought so, too. But the 1940 torpedo module gives 17 naval attack. Also, if you notice, if you try to put AP bomb locks + torpedo, the game tells you that you can only bomb with the most powerful module, making AP bomb locks kinda useless. Best to use small/heavy bomb locks for that 8 ground attack per module, which is more than AP bomb locks.

      ap bombs have higher targeting, meaning that in a CV battle, the planes that hit are better than the miss with higher damage, think it as DPS stat.

      Italy has Fiat aviazione as MIO, which gives 60% range bonus to medium frames along other stuff. This is why it's better to let them create medium planes and focus on light ones as Germany. Italy is next on the list, so you're reading my mind!

      Shouldn't be the case, if the weight and thrust is equal you can use the plane. Maybe you're trying to build these on a light carrier airframe? They are heavier so it can mess up things

      ​@@balkan-cowboy Maybe im stupid i give you an example the improved small fighter with 3 heavy guns 1 engine lv 3 and two armor plates i habe 26 weight and you only 24 why ? I get 4 weight for the armer plates 15 for the heavy machine guns and seven for the improved smalltalk airframe
