The chaotic energy of everyone muddling through their The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals choreo while Jon just films with the most gleeful smile on his face.
when robert says “gotta show stopping hymnal for you” it was actually a really good cover because he had to make it rhyme since he said “no exits from this broadway venue” and honestly it was so well covered because if you haven’t seen the show before you can’t really tell it’s wrong
Hamilton move over is from the third verse, but he accidentally sang it in the second verse on the digital ticket version, which is the one in this video.
I literally went into this going “There’s lots to learn HO HO HO HO HO. HO HO HO HO HO. HO HO. HA. *OX LIKE ME* “ better be in here. You did not disappoint.
The best part is that Starkid is so chaotic that if something like the ox coming out at the end instead of the mum or the general store guy going off on a tangent about his own musical happened, no one would even pick up on it because sometimes Starkid just *does that*
They've literally scripted _planned goofs_ for some of their shows in the past (the Taylor Lautner poster in AVPS, the flying diary in AVPSY, Joey's bad note in TTO), so anything goes with Starkid really! 😂
WHERE WAS THE SCENE FROM AVPS WITH THE POSTER AND JOEY RUNNING UP TO EVERYBODY JUST GOING "i can't get it off it's stuck on with magic,,," AND THEN IN THE NEXT SCENE GOING "hey they have a taylor lautner poster here too," AND DARREN JUST GOES "yeah,, they're everywhere" WHILE ALL OF THEM ARE TRYING NOT TO LAUGH
Because it was a planned mistake probably. Joey Richter talked about it in an interview once. They had to change who "Peter" was last minute because what they originally planned didn't play out well when they rehearsed it. I was kinda disappointed when i found out because at the time I thought "wow! They covered that so well"
It's on purpose, it's supposed to be Voldemort forgetting the rules about how the diary works. They say so in the A Very Potter Golden Birthday livestream :)
0:52 Jaime's save is actually really good here, if i saw this i'd think it was part of the jokes. The only thing that breaks that is when Lauren laughs.
I love that there's still people that think the Taylor Lautner poster being "stuck on the wall" was a mistake. That shows how good they are that they were able to make a scripted moment seem like an accident.
2:31 That was supposed to fail. His task was to improvise a new joke for ever show as to why he failed the high note. He could've easily hit it if he wanted to.
Words to live by in theatre: It's not avoiding mistakes that matters, it's how you recover from them. And these guys recovered really damn well. Though I do question why rehearsals were included. Those aren't fails, they're experimentation.
thats just the law of the land in wvery performing art. mistakes work their way into every performance, dont make another by showing you made one and breaking.

You should have included that part in AVPMwhere Snapes comes in and says the wrong line and then everyone pauses and then he’s like: sorry, deshavu-AHHH!
Starkid fails is the definition of "the show must go on" and any issue that occurs just gets turned into a comedic bit that the actors can improv jokes off of, i love it

one of the best parts of nick as emma in my opinion is when he does the “oh thank god line” before the tip song, instead of laurens normal like “uhhh im like creeped out by you, oh thank god a distraction” nick says “oH thAnk gOD” like you’d say “oh gOoDnESS FINALLY”
The whole “lean on the light switch” part is relatable, happened to me when I was doing back stage for Willy Wonka at my local theatre, nothing feels worse than the sinking feeling you get when you realize you just turned on the lights of the entire stage while they are in the middle of a dance number
honestly i love how they all just laughed about all their fails afterwards. it’s great to see that. i’ve made so many mistakes in shows before, happens to everyone, but i’ve always gotten screamed at by the directors for them lol. so it’s nice to see how they all have good fun in the end.
Everyone's talking about Robert saying "barista yeah" in the TGWDLM opening number but no one's talking about Jeff accidentally standing up a few seconds earlier 0:44
I relate to Robert forgetting a prop SO HARD because I've had entrances *right after* intermission (for spamalot btw) and my heart went down my stomACH because I forgot to put the umbrellas for 'always look on the bright side of life'. Luckily the person who played king Arthur made an exUse for me to quickly get them but moral of this story is when u make a mistake fake it till you make it♡
You all know about Hegelochus in Ancient Greece? In 408 BCE, this actor messed up a line in the drama Orestes so badly that it became a meme for centuries, in tons of comedy plays. We literally only know his name because it was such a funny mistake. Starkid fails literally make the show funnier, is what I'm saying. (By the way, he was supposed to say "after the storm I see again a calm sea", but instead he said "after the storm I see again a weasel".)
They record whole performances over two+ nights, and compile them into the finished product. So a whole first half can go well, and if a mistake happens they take the recording of that particular scene from another night and splice it in. That's why there's some jump cuts. The end sequence I noticed has two, Paul let it out scene has one, and Emma spitting up blood, the blood on her shirt changes position between shots.
