To make you laugh, I once asked Mr. Castellucci whether he sings the highs and lows of this song in one take or if it was done over multiple takes and then spliced together and he gave his wonderful self-deprecating laugh and said that it wasn't "that high...or that low" and that he can hit both on a good day... The man is...not human...but it is very pretty...💗 I'm so glad you enjoyed this too Mortius! Always good to see a true response...
This is a very special from Geoff, being only him and the keyboard. He's said that he did Shenandoah for Kathy, but that he did this for himself. Obviously this song is important for him. It certainly stands out compared to his other covers.
This was not the first Geoff solo song I heard, but it is the one that made me a subscriber. I think it is one of the first that really show his heart. I admired his voice and music before, but this one shows he is a beautiful person who loves music more than accolades. This was about the song for him, regardless of what anyone might think. And it is a work of art.
This is actually my favorite of all the covers he has done BECAUSE it's just him with a piano. I think there is no cover that portrays his incredible capabilities as well as this one does. Less truly is more sometimes
I saw an interview with him saying this was his favorite but it was also the one that people didn’t seem to like as much. It is my all time favorite of his. The best to listen to at the end of a crappy day.
I love when Geoff goes low, I love when he goes high. But I’ll be damned if I don’t admit that my favourite thing is just when Geoff sings deeply like he does in this and Nothing Else matters to name 2 songs. It’s so smooth, and is sends shivers throughout my whole body. I don’t think I can even express how much I love when he just sings low. It reminds me every time why he’s my favourite singer.
I love me a good Mortius malfunction! This cover is just so perfect. No other words needed. Perfect. Geoff is showing off. Just plain old showing off LOL...and so beautifully and easily showing his full range. Perfect!
This is such a underrated cover from Geoff, which is a shame because in my view Geoff added so much complexity and contrast to the song, and with the simplicity of the video he really allow the song shine ❤
Awesome reaction. I’m pretty sure Geoff has said before this cover is the one he’s most proud of for how technically difficult it was to pull off. His vocal range is just damn silly.
Great reaction to a beautiful song. I always recommend this to anyone wants to hear Geoff full range. Its surprising to alot of people he can go that high until they find out he was a tenor before becoming a bass. Age and vocal training accomplished that. If you watch any videos of him at universal studios he sang baritone and talked with a higher voice. He was in his 20s then right before he and Kathy got married. The woman in those videos is Kathy. And Tony played Dracula. The guy that played Beetle juice is now an assistant and Character actor at Pattycake Productions with Tony and Layne. You should also watch Bare Necessities and Saddle Up by Geoff. Both done a couple years ago. Very upbeat. Layne makes a cameo in Saddle Up. .
This is still my very favorite Geoff solo piece. Film wise it's perfect in it's simplicity and stillness while melodically it has a beautiful smoothness that moves soothingly through his range. Utter perfection. Knew you would love it.
I've always thought this was so underrated by most (compared to his other works), but it's probably his most artistic piece, and you can really feel the emotion Geoff put into it. Thank you so much Mortius for recognizing the beauty as well. Big hugs! 🤗
This has been my favourite Geoff solo since he started out with his own stuff. It perfectly showcases his highs as well as his lows. Even all the different techniques he uses throughout - the sub harmonics, the scoops, the rumbly whispers... it just makes you feel like... swooning. He has put out a lot of amazing stuff since, but nothing quite like this.
I've never seen this one before. The ease with which he goes from bass to tenor (and back again) never ceases to totally blow me away. I really love the simplicity (yet complexity) of this.
This is definitely one of my favorites that Geoff has done, I love the simplicity of it. It's just him, a piano, and some extra claps/stops. It is just so beautiful and moving. I hope that he does another one like this one day. Thanks for the great reaction as always friend!!💜
Sixteen Tons will always be my favourite as that was my introduction to Geoff but, the moment I saw and heard this it shot straight to the almost top of my list! The simplicity of the video, just Geoff and the piano is wonderful and I'd love to see him do more like this. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Geoffettes and his gorgeous harmonies but this has such an intimate and emotional feel. He gave it a bit of everything, a sub, that gorgeous velvety bass, a bit of rasp and those oh so pretty highs, perfection! So happy you loved this too, great reaction, thanks! 😥😊💜
Thank you to your Patrons for requesting you to check this out! This is by far one of the best and most beautiful covers Geoff has done that shows off his range, talent and heart. Truly perfection. ❤ Thank you for your reaction. 😊
This is my favorite Geoff cover and video. Everything he does is spectacular, but this one just always makes my soul happy. Had a bad day? High and Dry by Geoff. Want to be sung to sleep and guarantee good dreams? High and Dry by Geoff. Want to feel cozy and comfortable in your soul? High and Dry by Geoff....and a cup of warm tea. 😆
Mortius, I was not familiar with this song when I first heard Geoff's cover, but it affected me almost exactly the same way. I love his multiple tracks, but this solo is absolutely gorgeous! The only other time he comes close to a solo, is the Christmas piece he did with the American Sirens - Mele Kalikimaka. You will want to put it on your reaction list next Christmas, trust me!!
I can't believe you hadn't seen this one!! It's one of my favorites from Geoff. It's so difficult to pick a favorite and have it stick with Geoff or VoicePlay, lol. They're always upping that bar. But yeah, this one still remains in my top Geoff picks and for good reason! Loved your reaction, Mortius! ❤️
Geoff did Shenandoah first for Kathy, then did this one for himself. The introspection is what surprised me the most and it wouldn't have if he had not done this one for himself. It's a song of regrets in a lot of ways which I wouldn't have picked for Geoff, truth be told I still think it's not about him but maybe about someone he cares about.
IF you have a 5+ Octave range....ypu have got to 'flex' those 'muscles' once in a while...this was Geoffs time......he covers same 'range' in Oogie Boogie Song.......>^^
Watching this again I just fell in love with the man - again. For me he is perfect. Not much more I can say. Glad you got round to watching it., as I'm sure you are. :)
Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your gals. blokes, and all other folks, as I fit somewhere under that umbrella, though I don't fit most places. It's so welcoming.
@@officialmortius thank you for another great reaction to Voice Play. They have a brand new cover song out now. Would you please do a reaction to Voice Play new cover...In My Room...by the Beach Boys ? Voice Play knocks this one out of the ball park again. ❤️

Also Mortius: "You--WHA--"
Great reaction by the way!

Why be picky? It doesn’t really matter who’s reacting. Seeing any of them malfunction is fun!
Very true. I watch alot of reactors. Love them all. Mortius is one of my top favorites though.
It’s almost unfair, Geoff’s range, and the ease with which he uses it. Fantastic reaction!
Geoff did record his audio and mix it with the clapping and foot stomps before recording the video, though he does actually sing along as he films.

All required for perfection is Geoff Castellucci and a piano.
I’d almost forgotten how really sweet this was (and the complexity!!). Great reaction!!

All. Singer. Cover. Geoff has it all. XD Thanks for reminding me how good this one is and what a beautifully written song it is.
I think this is the one where he said that he just set up in his living room and filmed it.
