I'm shocked this doesn't have millions of views. Heard it on a random spotify playlist and just assumed this was some legendary classic song that I'd somehow missed. It's just that good and left such a strong first impression on me.
I found her during the pandemic and binged her for months afterwards. But TODAY... this song is on repeat!! Thank you, Sarah. You are an amazing artist.
I just watched my best friends horse pass from colic and over the speaker comes this beautiful voice. It was just one of those moments in my life being able to be there for my friend both of us really enjoying Sarah's voice while grieving a huge loss for her.
Like you, your music grows more beautiful with every year that passes. Met you when you travelled to Pontypridd and you couldn't have been nicer to my wife and I. God bless you.
I fell in love with the song, and was listening to it. The wife comes in and says "wait, did they get back together". She meant the Civil Wars. So I had to give her bad news, good news. Good news is of course Sarah Jarosz is out there making fierce new music.
Sage Angel Williams ~ Good for you! Go and keep on going away from abuse. Listen to songs like this, reminding you that you are not alone and you do not deserve abusive treatment.
Its very easy for an artist to have their music over-produced - this is just right, and I love that the vocals are prominent and not lost in the mix. Another thumbs up from the UK.
I'd disagree. I've heard some of her studio work before it was fully produced, and the comparison to the finished product is absurd. Compare the raw video of her playing "1000 things" in the studio on youtube with the compressed and mixed track on the album. Her vocals sound so much richer in the former, where as she sounds almost airbrushed on some of the finished tracks, and that's not to speak of the instruments. I'd definitely like to hear her do a more minimalist production along the lines of Gillian Welch's later albums.
"Love opens you up, and there you are." "And you don't even try to stop it. You let it feed." "Because real love makes you want to person you love to be OK... Even if you are not." Damn, Harry.
Another great song enjoyed by another Wimberley fan. Locally grown and internationally trained. What can anyone say? Oh yes, she is such a nice person. Indeed.

Welp, first song I've heard and I'm already hooked on her voice. Also, something incredible just happened. I found this song through an ad, came to this page via the ad, and had the same ad, FOR THIS SONG, pop up once the video loaded.
The women I have heard singing lately from the lead singer in Hiatus Koyote to Esperanza Spalding, they are new, fresh power. I went back to listen for the mandolin! I didn't know what it was. Thank you!
love Esperanza! Ive seen her live too. She's the one who should have done the Prince Tribute at Billboard Awards last night... She was close to Prince.... xo :)
My brother, Paul Blakemore, works with Esperanza, mastering her recordings. He is knocked out by her fresh, amazing talent. Me too and I know nothing except what I like!
I love Crosby Still and Nash! Ohio is one my favorite songs, you really did it justice by adding different bits. I think you could have found a way to keep the lyrics in your cover, however. The Kent state shootings were part of particularly meaningful time in american history.
She is awesome! I discovered her looking for covers of "when doves cry" and her cover is awesome! I like this song but what on earth is going on in the video? Is it a past love? Is the guy a stalker? Or is it just a bunch of random stuff put together?
Until I heard this song Read a few comments I could never understand Why I built The first door to nowhere It’s unlocked However if you dare open You’ll sea an endless wall No entry possible However the camera Will take you picture And I’ll know just who Try enter the impossible
Just heard this on the TV show Resident Alien. Eeriely beautiful, with the earthy guitar and rhythmic lyrics. 🏵️

Me too. Hi from oz!

SO happy to discover talented artists I've never heard before. Beautiful music! (Thank you, Harry Vanderspeigle) :)
im here because of Harry too, (now where is my pizza?)
This album and this song won her Grammys.
I found her during the pandemic and binged her for months afterwards. But TODAY... this song is on repeat!!
Thank you, Sarah. You are an amazing artist.
I swear she gets better with each album.
No doubt!
George Parkins Especially on her latest!
My god, why have I just learned of this beautiful, undescribable heaven

The song has a Civil wars vibe to it, Beautiful guitar and violin composition.
I really wish they were still making music together!!
I fell in love with the song, and was listening to it. The wife comes in and says "wait, did they get back together". She meant the Civil Wars. So I had to give her bad news, good news. Good news is of course Sarah Jarosz is out there making fierce new music.
You can almost mistaken this as a Civil Wars cut
I cried as I was driving to nowhere . I'm leaving my husband of 7yrs . his abusing days of me are done ! I'm done !!!!
Good for you. I am doing the same. Been treated like I haven't existed for years....No one needs to be treated like shit.....PERIOD....
Sage Angel Williams ~ Good for you! Go and keep on going away from abuse. Listen to songs like this, reminding you that you are not alone and you do not deserve abusive treatment.
I'm glad you've walked away. May you be blessed on your journey 💙💙💙 Love from Texas
Greatings from Hamburg/Germany
This was three years ago. I hope you’re safe and happy Sage.

I'd disagree. I've heard some of her studio work before it was fully produced, and the comparison to the finished product is absurd.

First saw this song in a psychiatric ward. What a place to find music.
I hope you are well.
Another talented Austin girl, love ya Sarah.
"Love opens you up, and there you are."
"And you don't even try to stop it. You let it feed."
"Because real love makes you want to person you love to be OK... Even if you are not."
Damn, Harry.
From teen to young woman Sarah's musical style ever changing simply amazing to see and enjoy 👏👏👏🎸
How can anyone dislike this song?
Another great song enjoyed by another Wimberley fan. Locally grown and internationally trained. What can anyone say? Oh yes, she is such a nice person. Indeed.
i love this song, the lyrics are straight to the point and it's not overproduced. good stuff
In the middle of the night again
Still water and the birds don't sing
Cold gin in the back room humming
Medicating for the trouble that's coming
Walls rattle like a diesel freighter
Blood races like a wave
This house wasn't meant for strangers
But you come knocking anyway
I can hear you knocking on the door
I won't leave it open for you anymore
I can hear you knocking on the door
Knocking on the door of the house of mercy
Don't try to change my mind
That knock gets louder all the time
Don't try to wear me down
You'll never get inside this house
Underneath that shirt you're wearing
Strained muscles and a heart of stone
Double crossing like a wild chameleon
You make me want to be alone
I can hear you knocking on the door
I won't leave it open for you anymore
I can hear you knocking on the door
Knocking on the door of the house of mercy
Don't try to change my mind
That knock gets louder all the time
Don't try to wear me down
You'll never get inside this house
I can hear you knocking on the door
I won't leave it open for you anymore
I can hear you knocking on the door
Knocking on the door of the house of mercy
Gracias
TY for lyrics! PLAY FOREVER! ❤😎✌️🎶🎸🪕
just heard this tune yesterday over from Jedd Hughes. It's just an amazing song, beautifully rendered, I'm hooked!
Speak up for those that don't have a voice...Amen.
Swore it was something I missed from Fleetwood Mac or one of the other great group. Added yo the play list
Saw her live in Nevada City in 2016, still a fan. First class lyricist and music. I love you Sarah Jarosz!

Lovely- could anyone direct me to the chords/tab for this song? thanks!
YES SARAH
first heard this featured on NYT website.
Yay! Very cool song and vid!!
I love Crosby Still and Nash! Ohio is one my favorite songs, you really did it justice by adding different bits.
I think you could have found a way to keep the lyrics in your cover, however. The Kent state shootings were part of particularly meaningful time in american history.
Yes! It was driving me nuts what this song reminded me of. I was thinking of a Fleetwood Mac song but it's definitely CSN Ohio.
If you watch her live, she plays a mandolin like guitar....what is that called?
octave mandolin made by fletcher brock seattle
Thanks! :)
Grammy time
She sings for the soul.
Her profile must make her other leap!
yeah...
She is awesome! I discovered her looking for covers of "when doves cry" and her cover is awesome! I like this song but what on earth is going on in the video? Is it a past love? Is the guy a stalker? Or is it just a bunch of random stuff put together?
Who's the guy in the video?
ToadyMcgee jedd Hughes?
I meant the guy physically shown in the video, not the one singing.
Until I heard this song
Read a few comments
I could never understand
Why I built
The first door to nowhere
It’s unlocked
However if you dare open
You’ll sea an endless wall
No entry possible
However the camera
Will take you picture
And I’ll know just who
Try enter the impossible

This songs about......?
Does anyone else hear Gilliam Welch and David Rawlins?
Resident Alien. Great song.
Strange that Molly Tuttle stole this exact intro and chord progression for Dooley's Farm and then won a Grammy.
Gillian Welch cover band?
🌺🌼🏵👍🙏
This sounds very similar to the songs of Joy Williams and John Paul White, formerly Civil Wars.
Real American music is coming back now. It isn't commercially conspicuous. But nothing really good is....
