No it's not its a cheap knock of that freeze all the time and the blacks on this display is something I remember from like 10 years ago, I'm surprised people are buying these things and the Lag for gaming is sooo terrible. Save some money and get OLED or the most high quality LED that you can get from SONY, the soundbar is some cheap BS as well probably cost 80 euro. Remember people get the OLED either LG, SONY or PANASONIC you might get sound Barr half price or just get 7.1 or 5.1 system.
Great and balanced review as always. I understand the receiver has an aerial input but little is made of the ability or specification of the tv tuner. Is the tuner T2 capable and therefore provide HD Freeview pictures and if so are those pictures any better or worse than the streams which is the focus of the tv? Keep up the great work. Neil
Superb and honest review, the product itself however is a miss from me. The problem with this hardware for me is the restrictions and limitations of setting up the TV how you TRULY (the consumer), want it to display and behave. I want a product to use with full functionality, not hidden menus and engineer mode codes. With Sky introducing this, it takes the power away from the consumer and it’s frustrating. Take Sky+ and Sky Q. There were loads of features on Sky+ that would’ve been very helpful on Sky Q but, Sky nowadays release NEW hardware whilst continually stripping useful features from past platforms. Consumers seem to be seeing newer devices being released with less and less useful features from Sky. Hmmmm.

Why is my sky glass not repairable. I have this on a 4 year contract with a 1 year warranty. I have had mine for 2 years and it's broken. Called sky and they said that they don't have a technical department for sky glass so you have to buy a new one for £400+ plus I still have 2 years of my old one to pay for. So please sky can you please tell me that this is good customer service, plus the the best for the environment. I would love to hear back from someone with an explanation. Well done sky.
For your average consumer would you notice the differences to the quality that you mention? I think the average person is my interested in fitting this in a media wall and not having all the cables and not having a separate compartment / shelf within the media wall for sound bar and an ugly sky box. would love to know others thoughts Sorry, great review by the way :)
Thank you for this review. It was very useful and I like the way you're able to highlight the relative strengths and limitations of the product, whilst also bringing in the way different customer demographics may feel differently about Sky Glass.
Great review, very informative. I was thinking of getting this as my sky contract runs out in Jan 23. What would you recommend as an alternative ? We whatch sky and sky sport . No movie subscription. Netflix and Amazon on seperate account s so they can be used outside the house . What's your thoughts. A
Consider sky Stream box instead. It’s Sky Glass but in a box that can be used with any to of your choice. It’s subscription options also have a 30 day rolling contract too.
HLG is the worst HDR format that you can get DV is probably the best one out there at the moment but only for movies and shows for games i would stick to HDR10, HLG is ancient at this stage.
I have the 65 inch sky glass, I love it. Simple. It’s £1000 for a tv and soundbar so you aren’t going to get the top of the market hardware, unless you want sky to charge £5k and then no one will buy it. I love the whole concept, but I probably wouldn’t choose it over sky Q. ( I live in a flat where sky Q isn’t possible)
Problem is, there are TVs that perform much better for less and offer far more flexibility for image quality. Adding a £100 soundbar to one of those gets you a far better experience and performance for those who want that, in my opinion. However, I'm glad you like your Glass and it obviously suits your needs, so that's great.
@@jamesblair18 I may be missing the point here but couldn't you just plug in a NowTV streaming stick into a regular 4K TV and get all the same content available to stream for a fraction of the price?
SKY Glass is a con. I bought Sky Glass, not on a credit agreement, I stupidly bought it and paid in full in March. The TV was at first faulty and got replaced in July. Between then and now I've had a growing frustration with it. Ultimately this product is inferior to Q. You can't record. You get less channels. So I decided I wanted out. The problem is this. When I did the research I discussed the TV with a Sky Rep at a stand, and gave him the hypothetical situation that if I wanted to change product in the future I could sell the TV (the benefit of buying it outright) and someone else could use it. They said yes, this was possible. Well. That is a lie. You can't. When you sell the TV no one else can use it and attach a Sky Glass subscription to it. Basically it is useless. You ae essentially painting yourself into a corner as you now have a TV no one wants to buy as it can't be used as the thing it is advertised for. Needless to say I am now seeking legal advice on this. As SKY clearly must have the ability to attach anew subscription to a TV. They are basically just limiting the free trade of the TVs on the open market (people wanting to sell as they want a new product) but buyers not being able to use the TV. I'm now raising this with a number of consumer bodies. SKY must have the ability to change TVs to new owners as they did when they sent me my new one - and let’s face it they will have sold on the faulty TV after they had fixed it. People need to be aware of this limitation with Glass. An inferior product to Q. And ultimately an inability to be able to sell on for the purpose it was intended. I tried to resolve the mis selling with SKY and they have washed their hands of it.
Hi mate, what’s the update on this situation? Would love to hear if you managed to get the money refunded or were able to resell it on the open market.
The UI ad UX really is awful on SkyQ. SKy have gone from what was the the best UI and UX on the market for many many years, to a confusing mess, full of misery. Hope sky do a u-turn and put some effort into bringing back an interface that's a joy to use.
Fantastic review. I was on the fence about getting Glass from Sky. Your review has made my mind up. No glass, for now, I think I will wait a year or two.
Rule number one of Sky club. NEVER rely purely on internet to support a tv service. The satellite dish option is far more reliable. Also Sky Glass by all accounts has absolutely tanked. A reduction in tv channels and freezing issues are common fare. Keep that Sky Q box for sure. 👍. Who on Earth needs yet another huge telly these days anyway.
Loved this detailed and somewhat "nerdy" review. He is a "qualified ISF and THX calibrator"... so he might know more about picture quality than me 😀. Based on it I will give Sky Glass a miss and stick with my OLED and Q. In fact, if we're not for my son's love of F1 (and him paying for it) I would ditch Sky altogether. I love streaming TV. Stream on 5 other TVs around the house and use Rokus, Apple TV and Firesticks. The comment on the Glass PQ reminds me of my cheap second hand 4K JVC I have wall mounted in my study.
This is not accurate if the distributor cancels the programme you lose it whereas recording on sky q is forever. Sky Glass is not for me but sky have made it difficult for me to upgrade my sky hd box to sky q by giving it a long lead time. They only want to sell me sky glass which is not for me. Shame on them. My 22 year VIP status means nothing and it stands for very inadequate person. Get lost sky.
Sky also don't tell you that unless you have an unlimited broadband contract with your provider then your bills are going to be ridiculous as the TV is constantly live streaming
What kind of half-wit would not have unlimited broadband if they were watching a streaming service? Capped domestic broadband is not even sold very often these days anyway.
Yeh I have a friend who lives In social and it was like the best thing ever for her and her family to stick a 65 inch sky glass tv on the wall. It seems to be aimed at the working class i binned sky years ago, went to streaming service and saving hundreds not pay sky
If a films on live TV, and the channel doesn't have catchup then that's going to happen. And to be honest not all content ends up on catchup. The remote sounds like a headache.
No consideration for people who CANT have a dish. I don’t have a stereo. I would save a bunch not having to buy a separate stereo or sound bar. No way else to access SKY HD programming without a dish. I think this review is for screen spec nerds, a market it was never designed for.
To be fair, he is clear that this review is from an AV enthusiast perspective, not really the target market. However, there are many who might be interested in the Sky Glass service who either want or already have a better TV, who are locked out because Sky insisted on locking the service to their own hardware, which seems pretty like an outdated business model.
Hi Alex, I do make it clear that my assessment is from an AV Enthusiast's point of view. I do, however, also feel that proper assessment of these types of display is important rather than saying it's for people that don't care about picture quality. There is better hardware available than a locked in system from one supplier. Thanks for taking the time to reply and comment.
This simply isn’t true, As a BT broadband customer I have a BT TV package and I pay BT £45 a month for all sky sports and BT sports channels in HD (BT Sport in 4K), Sky sports full package comes via now tv on the BT TV box and can also be streamed on 2 other devices or tv’s at the same time, as can BT sport via the BT Sport app, so 3 screens running all content at the same time, a full sky package via BT costs £74 a month, this includes sky entertainment, cinema, sports & Netflix all in HD, the same package via sky tv as a new customer is £85 a month on Sky Q, on sky glass this would be over £100 a month.
This is a silly post. I don't have a dish either. Like many people, I just plugged in a Roku streaming stick for £40. Nobody really needs a dish anymore NOW TV is pretty much the same as SKY for a lot less money.
U didn't even give the tv a chance only thing u changed was the Sharpness try turning the colours up and brightness just looks like u hated it out of the box
We tested it against the industry standards for image quality. Just turning up the brightness and colours doesn't make a jot of difference to a mediocre TV with bad backlighting, poor contrast and inaccurate image quality. Plus, the UI is clunky. I don't hate TVs, I assess them as fairly and honestly as possible to try and push for better quality products for end users. There are much better options for performance. I also understand that some people don't care about any of that and just want the convenience. If you're happy with the TV and service then that's great, it however, doesn't make our assessments any less valid. We will always hold manufacturers to account and push for better quality if we feel the product is poor, as we have done here.
This review is absolute rubbish the picture quality is excellent and I had a a good tv before I went with sky glass because I heard many great things about it like no more sky box and endless wires I’ve had no issues with it since I got it stop with these negative reviews
I'm glad you are enjoying the TV and it suits what you need. My opinion hasn't changed and is based on objective measurements to industry standards, mixed with 20 years of TV reviewing and calibration. If none of that appeals to you and you're more than happy with your choice, that's fine and nobody would question it, but calling a review absolute rubbish because you disagree, is a little childish.
@@avforums not childish at all I just don’t agree do you actual own sky glass to pass option as I mentioned before never had any issues since I’ve had it … I’m really happy with it the picture quality is excellent the sound is amazing everyone raves about the sky Q I had more issues with my sky Q Was replaced 4 times I lost all my recording that I build up when I saw sky at my local shopping centre and explained all the benefits and how it worked I was more then happy everyone is so quick too judge
@@Juliaanna49I don’t doubt that the picture quality would be ok for me as I’m not purist. However, it’s not worth £1,000. For that price you can get a much better quality TV and a better sound system/bar. I’d rather buy a TV separately, a steaming device and my own choice of sound bar/system and subscribe to now TV. The whole set up would be less than getting any glass. I have 4 TVs in my house. I can get Amy content on all of the, via one now TV subscription. I don’t need to pay for multi room.
Terrible screen... Suffers from bad screen banding had x 2 replacement screens and all suffered the same issue (Football lovers stay away!!!) Cancelled back to sky Q!
I did find your review very overly critical. For many this device has mass market appeal, it is a cheaper way to get sky and a 4k dolby vision / atmos tv. most people do not care about alot of the specifics you mention. they want a solution that works and requires little interaction. the voice search is pretty good and you say the ui is awful, there is far far worse out there. if you were struggling to find what you wanted the handy voice search could probably find what you were looking for!
I'm glad you are enjoying your TV, James. Thanks for your feedback on the review, but I will always be honest and critical of any product where I think it offers a poor performance and choice for the consumer. I will always push the manufacturer to improve the product for the benefit of consumers, it's why I do what I do.
To be fair in the review it is pointed out that the TV is aimed at the masses. I think if you are coming to a review like this, you are doing so because you want to know how it performs / compares.
Gosh this tv is by no means poor, its actually very good! It's not the best on the market but for the average user, sports lover and gamer, it'll work like a charm and be fantastic. Your video review is a bit like a mechanic who will always criticise what brand of coolant tubes your car uses then bitch and moan about the whole car too, calling the brand "terrible" lol This TV is phenomenal. End of. The sound is by no means mediocre its the best I've seen and I've got a soundbar on my other telly!
Glad you're enjoying your purchase. I do however stand by my assessments which are based on objective testing and data, as well as use for over a month. There are far better TVs out there for the money, and if you must have Sky there is Q or the new stand-alone Pucks that do what Glass does, without the poor TV, but if you are happy then that's all that matters. Thanks for taking the time to add your thoughts.
@@avforums You do know this dude hasn’t a clue what he is talking about. You cannot buy the Sky Glass pucks and add them to a existing TV without taking out a Sky Glass contract. The pucks are in essence like multi room sky boxes.
Blimey it's not an expensive tv in the first place, stop comparing it somthing that costs 2 or 3K, so annoying your channel, like comparing a Nissan Juke to a Ferrari and then saying your dissapointed in the Nissan's performance!!!
Not at all, it was compared to other models in the market segment that we are familiar with and which have been tested by us. It is silly to suggest that we are comparing it to £3K TVs, that wouldn't make any sense whatsoever. People simply don't understand that TVs should be able to perform at measurable standards, which is what we test by and what the Sky Glass fails to do, whereas other TVs we have tested that are cheaper than the Glass manage to achieve. It's a poor TV that needs some updates to make it more acceptable for the money Sky are charging, and we are pointing those out. I don't understand why people are happy to give poorly performing products a pass when a little more effort from the manufacturer gives the consumer a better overall product. We will always push manufacturers to listen to feedback and improve their products, and we will never back away from that.
The easiest way to explain this tv is it’s like a Ford Focus, for the masses at a competitive price. If your looking for OLED and have an ear for sound it isn’t for you.

This is a silly post. I don't have a dish either. Like many people, I just plugged in a Roku streaming stick for £40. Nobody really needs a dish anymore NOW TV is pretty much the same as SKY for a lot less money.
It's a downgrade from Sky Q. No recording is big no no.
Thanks great video
Returned mine within 24 hrs. Wish I'd seen this reveiw, what a waste of time. Poor picture quality was the deal breaker.
My 65 inch soundbar crackles
It seems to be quite a common issue for customers. Thanks for letting us know!
It's shit mines going back please tell people who use it for gaming it's crap plus iv had to reset mine most day's please tell people the truth
That’s a pretty disgusting looking tv, especially compared to others on the market.
C'mon, disgusting is over the top. Subpar maybe but not disgusting. You may be the ne that believes only a Sony Master Series is worth of reviewing.
@@Juliaanna49I have a better tv that's cheaper than this in 4K and its far more superior and it isn't a fat chunky piece of garbage 😂
Terrible screen... Suffers from bad screen banding had x 2 replacement screens and all suffered the same issue (Football lovers stay away!!!) Cancelled back to sky Q!
How did sky get sky glass so wrong looks pretty bad
Do not buy this TV, its too heavy and sound is rubbish sent it back to Sky.
Thanks I am thinking I dont have sky box sound box and broadband what can I do It's better to buy safretley
Dos sky think that this a step forward its massive sky q far better come on sky you have drop the ball here
I did find your review very overly critical.
Hells Bells why can't you tech people provide a non techy review without the need for a degree in electronics!!!!! !
Gosh this tv is by no means poor, its actually very good! It's not the best on the market but for the average user, sports lover and gamer, it'll work like a charm and be fantastic.
Your video review is a bit like a mechanic who will always criticise what brand of coolant tubes your car uses then bitch and moan about the whole car too, calling the brand "terrible" lol
This TV is phenomenal.
Eek
Looks to thick
TL-DR; It's shit. 😄
Not for me, slow, no 2.1 and refresh rate on par with a phone from yesteryear.. Yuk 🤮
Cable TV is dying. No point buying this
Blimey it's not an expensive tv in the first place, stop comparing it somthing that costs 2 or 3K, so annoying your channel, like comparing a Nissan Juke to a Ferrari and then saying your dissapointed in the Nissan's performance!!!
