how ingrained are yall with water bottle culture that u know all the brands like i only know yeti stanley and hydro because they’re the actual popular ones if you’ve heard of the others you’re probably chronically on the water bottle side of the internet. do u study the atoms in the plastics and metals?
Well I hadnt even realized stanleys were popular BECAUSE they fit into the car’s cup holder when that has been my biggest issue. Soooo…. Guess I’ll be the next annoying person joining that group 😅😂🙋♀️
Nalgene was popular bc it was one of the first plastic bottles marketed as BPA-free when ppl started learning about toxins in plastics, it held a ton of water, is easily cleaned in the dishwasher without particles getting trapped inside, and was nearly unbreakable. Athletes loved them bc they could be tossed around easily - from an early 2000’s collegiate athlete - not bc ppl could put stickers on them (no hate but just want to clear that up… I still own about 10 Nalgene bottles for myself and 2 kids)
Water bottle trends are so wild to me. Just use what works best for your needs! I use public transit to get around and Stanleys are huge and not leak-proof, so they don't make sense for me.
Stanley’s used to work best for me. Working out in the cold either on foot or horseback or on a wagon, things got cold and I needed a good mug that could hold a lot and keep it hot. Those old Stanleys did that perfectly. I still have mine from 20 years ago and it still works almost the same as it did when I got it. But these new ones are wickedly overpriced and useless. If anything ever happens to my Stanley and my spare, then I guess that’s it. I really do not understand the obsession with taking good working class items, popularizing them to the point of inaccessibility, and then lowering the quality. The quality doesn’t go back up after it’s not popular anymore either. I hate trends
@@issnake1109woah you described overconsumption and wildly unnecessary popular trends perfectly I also own a Stanley but I think it’s an older model I got it from Amazon and it doesn’t have a handle or a straw but it works great for me as a Junior in highschool
@@Coca531 I know that’s what I described because I passionately hate it tbh. I work on a farm so in the winter when I have to traverse long trails by either tractor, 4-wheeler, or horse, the big green stanley mugs have always been a good friend of mine. They’re one of the few mugs I have that last more than a couple hours in extreme weather or temperatures
Exactly. Mine is a 24 fl oz bottle I bought at Walmart and I've used it all throughout middle and highschool. It's covered in stickers and I love it so much lol. It also wasn't really expensive
Nalgenes have been the hikers go to for twenty some years. You had pop top soft plastic squeezey bike bottles which got really hot and plastic tasting, they also leaked and you had nalgenes which gained popularity because they didn’t make your water taste like ziplock. They also were hard plastic that didn’t crack if you dropped it. The 1980s-late 1990s were a dark time in water bottle options. I’ll always think back to how cool we thought Nalgenes were, it’s sort of comical but if you looked at what the options were…it all makes sense. Tervis came out as a game changer because they didn’t leave condensation marks, that was a big damn deal! No more coasters! Use a lid, use a straw! Keeps your ice from melting for a little while. Then BOOM, the Yetis, Hydroflasks and cursed Stanleys happened. It’s crazy what water transportation devices have turned into.
I’m not a nurse but I’ve had an owala for over 2 years now!! And it’s the absolute best! Your straw is protected at all times and it is super easy to clean
I’m a nurse and right now we all have an owala, yeti, or Simple Modern. I’ve had my simple modern cup for over a year and I love it. It’s so easy to clean, keeps ice for hours and hours, and way cheaper than a Stanley or Yeti.
I love simple modern! If my son hadn't lost the three sm bottles I'd already purchased, I would buy more. Does he ever lose my Zak clearance water bottle that I got for $3? No. Of course not 😂
I had the pink Owala shown in the video long before Stanley cups became popular and it is one of the best purchases of my life. My other water bottles (Rubbermade) let water come out and leak easily but my Owala has always been super secure. It also has a straw and a bigger area which is nice.
Lol! I'm in mental health and see a ton of Owalas. I just got my second 😅. I also use a Hydroflask for smoothies and Stanley Mug for hot drinks (the Tough to tip Admiral mug - its never leaked or spilled once!), but I STILL have my Camelbak! The mouth piece comes off with a lil tug. 😉
I've had my hydroflask since I was in college in 2015/16. I definitely don't plan on buying a new reusable water container when mine works perfectly fine. The idea of a "cup trend" is so cringe.
I think the main reason for healthcare workers being on the owala trend is because during covid I remember they gave healthcare workers and their families a great discount on their bottles.
It was going on before 2020 though, someone stole my beautiful mermaid scale Starbucks travel mug in the ICU in 2016 😂 We take our fluids seriously and we have very little opportunity for self expression at work so that cup is your time to shine.
Honestly by all means. Stanleys were never meant to be popular. They’re a working class mug that’s meant to last and be durable and good.
